If you're keeping track, today is Thursday, September 28th.
Welcome to the President's Daily Brief.
I'm Mike Baker, your eyes and ears on the world stage.
Let's get briefed.
Today, it's day one of the impeachment inquiry of President Biden,
and a new twist emerges in the controversies surrounding his son Hunter's business dealings.
According to Republicans on the House Oversight Committee,
Hunter received over a quarter of a million dollars,
in wire transfers from Chinese business partners during the summer of 2019.
And the most intriguing part of this revelation?
Well, the wires listed Joe Biden's Delaware home as the beneficiary address for the funds.
A bit later in the show, we bring you allegations that Dr. Anthony Fauci, you may remember him from the pandemic days,
secretly visited CIA headquarters to purportedly influence.
the COVID-19 origins probe. Representative Brad Winstrup has sent shockwaves through Washington
with this revelation casting doubt on the origins narrative. Then we'll shift gears to a surprising
international development. U.S. Army Private Travis King, who darted across the DMZ two months ago
into North Korea, is now back in American custody. Apparently, the North Koreans decided,
he's yours, deal with it. That's got to be a blow to your self-esteem when even the North Koreans
don't want you as a diplomatic pawn. Lastly, in today's back of the brief segment, we have a few
updates on the embarrassing, to say the least, situation north of the border, where Canada's
Parliament gave a standing ovation to a Nazi soldier. Latest developments include a high-profile
resignation and Polish demands for the extradition of the 98-year-old former SS member. Because, well,
well, the statute of limitations really doesn't apply to a wartime Nazi. You're always wanted,
even when you're 98. But first, today's PDB spotlight. The impeachment inquiry into President Biden
is kicking off today, and it's following a major tantalizing revelation. According to reports from the House
Oversight Committee, in which subpoenaed Hunter Biden's financial records, the President's son received
two wire transfers from Chinese nationals totaling $260,000 in 2019. And what's most intriguing is that
these transfers listed Joe Biden's Wilmington, Delaware home as the beneficiary address.
These revelations have come to light as a result of the House Oversight Committee, which
subpoenaed Hunter Biden's financial records.
Notably, one of these payments came from a man named Li Jiangsheng, who also goes by the name of
Jonathan Lee.
Now, if you've been following this story closely, you'll recognize Lee as a central figure.
He's the CEO of an investment fund with whom Hunter Biden had a business relationship while
Joe Biden was vice president.
Moreover, he's the individual whom Hunter reportedly threatened over WhatsApp messages while
claiming his dad, Joe Biden, was sitting right next to him. These messages were revealed by an IRS
whistleblower. Now, Hunter wasn't the only member of the family that had a relationship with Jonathan
Lee. Evidence shows that Joe Biden had a somewhat familiar relationship with the Chinese CEO as well.
According to Hunter's former business partner, Devin Archer, there were meetings in Beijing,
phone calls and even college recommendation letters written by Joe Biden for Lee's son and daughter.
Now, both of whom were subsequently rejected from their preferred colleges, despite Biden's
recommendations, just in case you were wondering. Now, it's crucial to note a few things.
None of this, on its own, proves criminal activity. At the time of these transfers, July and August
of 2019, Joe Biden was still technically a private citizen, even though he'd already launched his
2020 presidential campaign. However, this revelation adds more weight to the questions surrounding
President Biden's assertions of ignorance regarding his son's business dealings with China.
Remember, he categorically denied that his son made any money from China way back in 2020.
Look, if it walks like a duck and quack,
like a duck. It's probably an influence-pedaling, possible money-laundering duck involved in a
pay-to-play enterprise. The point being, if this level of information was developed on you or I,
a private citizen without significant political connections, we'd be neck-deep in a serious
law enforcement effort to find the truth. And the media wouldn't be contorting itself in an
effort to look the other way. The problem is, we're massively divided. Anytime someone says,
what about Biden's possible involvement in pay-to-play?
The other side says,
eh, Trump.
It's actually possible, though, to investigate both
with the same level of curiosity and investigative integrity.
Just because you can't stand Trump
doesn't mean you can't investigate possible wrongdoing by the other side
and vice versa.
This isn't rock, it's science.
One side shouldn't be exonerated
just because you don't like the other side.
All right.
after the break, we've got two developing stories, so we're keeping an eye on. First, explosive
allegations about a secret visit to CIA headquarters from Dr. Anthony Fauci. Now he's being accused
of trying to influence the COVID-19 origins probe. Then, a surprising international twist
from our friends in the Hermit Kingdom. Okay, to be fair, they're not our friends. Private Travis
King, a U.S. Army soldier, detained in North Korea after hopping over the heavily militarized border,
back in July is now back in American custody.
I'll be right back.

Welcome back to the President's Daily Brief.
The origins of COVID-19 remain murky.
That, my friends, is what we call an understatement.
But getting to the bottom of it, you would think, should be one of our top priorities.
Why? Well, the answer is simple.
Understanding where the virus came from could hold the key to preventing future pandemics.
It's a matter of national security.
because, and not to be the bearer of bad news here, but there will be other pandemics,
which is why stories like these can be frustrating.
According to Republican Congressman Brad Wendstrip from Ohio, who chairs the House Select
Subcommittee on the coronavirus pandemic, Dr. Anthony Fauci, you remember him, America's top doc during
the pandemic, he was invited to the CIA headquarters.
His purpose?
Allegedly to participate in the agency's inquiry.
into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the time, the agency had formed a COVID-Origens task force.
According to the subcommittee,
they've gathered intel from multiple sources across various government agencies,
all hinting at Fauci's involvement at the CIA.
In a letter addressed to the Department of Health and Human Services, Inspector General,
Wensstrup outlined his concerns.
He said, quote,
the information provided suggests that Dr. Fauci was escorted into Central Intelligence Agency
headquarters without a record of entry and participated in the analysis to, quote,
influence the agency's review. Wensstrup is now calling on HHS to hand over any documents or
communications connected to Fauci's visits to CIA facilities and interactions with CIA
personnel. As of now, the relevant government agencies have not provided an official response to these
allegations. It's worth noting that the CIA has decided not to weigh in on the origins of COVID-19.
Their official assessment was, quote, undetermined, meaning that the agency concluded after their
assessment that essentially there wasn't sufficient intel to make a call on whether the virus
originated from a Wuhan lab leak or from nature.
This revelation, though, concerning Fauci's visit to Langley,
follows closely on the heels of a recent whistleblower's claim,
alleging that the CIA dangled substantial financial incentives
to sway the opinion of analysts investigating COVID-19's origins.
This is something we've talked about on previous PDBs.
Now, at the moment, this story is lacking detail.
Given Fauci's position during the pandemic,
there could be a number of explanations for his visit to agency headquarters.
I mean, frankly, he could have been visiting the outstanding CIA Museum, which, by the way,
is outstanding.
Maybe he was taking selfies in front of Nathan Hale's statue, grabbing lunch at the cafeteria,
or having coffee at the agency's Starbucks outlet.
Yes, we have a Starbucks at the agency.
Or, there's a chance, given his role in the defining event of the time period,
he could have been pontificating on the details of his favorite origin theory.
There's no reason to believe that Fauci wouldn't have been meeting with the agency's COVID
Origins Task Force personnel, and on the surface, there's nothing untoward about that encounter.
The agency's role, after all, is to gather all possible intelligence from all possible sources.
Really, the bigger issue here is the fact that we still have no better insight into the origins of the pandemic.
And frankly, the entire U.S. government should be embarrassed by that fact.
The government, the media, and I suppose to be fair, the undemanding public, have been too
incurious and too passive in insisting that we get clarity from the Chinese government.
Millions died as a result of the pandemic, and yet the Xi regime in China has successfully
stonewalled the world in providing sufficient transparency and cooperation.
and that doesn't bode well for our ability to mitigate risk from the next pandemic.
All right, switching gears.
You may remember the story of U.S. Army Private Travis King from back in July.
King made headlines when he ran across the border from South Korea into North Korea.
He had just served a prison stint in South Korea for an assault
and was supposed to return to a military base in Fort Bliss, Texas,
potentially facing disciplinary action.
Apparently, Private King had other ideas.
King's escape plan was, you know, fairly simple.
He joined a civilian tour of the Joint Security Area at the demilitarized zone.
That's the border separating the two Koreas.
And from there, he simply dashed across the border where North Korean authorities promptly detained him.
But here's the twist.
It seems North Korea had second thoughts about keeping him.
King has been transferred back to U.S. custody and was last reported on his way to a military hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
It's likely that Private King's decision to seek refuge in North Korea won't reflect well on his record.
All right, in today's back of the brief, I want to update you on a story we brought to you yesterday.
It looks like there's some accountability, after all, for Canada's Parliament giving a standing ovation to a former member of the Nazi SS.
not just for the politicians involved in the embarrassing moment, but perhaps for the 98-year-old
former Nazi himself. It does, of course, beg the question, can one really be a former Nazi? And I think
the answer is no. All right, I'll be right back. Welcome back. In today's back of the brief,
interesting updates on a story we brought you yesterday about Canada's parliament celebrating a 98-year-old former
SS member Yaroslav Honka. As you'll recall, the inability of anyone within the Canadian Parliament
to do a modicum of due diligence resulted in a standing ovation for the aging Nazi. Well, first,
it looks like there actually is some accountability on the political front. The Speaker of the Canadian
House of Commons, Anthony Roda, has taken full responsibility and he officially resigned from his
post over the incident. Now, given how infrequently any politician from any location on this
planet accepts responsibility, Rota's move is, in its own way, commendable.
Rhoda expressed as a regret for the error and declared, quote,
this house is above any of us, therefore I must step down as your speaker.
But the repercussions may not end there.
Members of the division to which Unka belonged, the 14th Woffon Grenadier Division,
have long-faced accusations of committing war crimes during World War II.
One of the most notorious incidents was a massacre of Polish and
inhabitants of a village in 1944, where the division was accused of killing at least 800 civilians.
So, in response to the events in the Canadian Parliament, a Polish government minister has now
called for Hunkah himself to face justice. The minister stated, quote, in view of the scandalous
events in the Canadian Parliament, which involved honoring a member of the criminal Nazi
SS in the presence of President Zelensky, I have taken steps toward the possible extradition of this
man to Poland. We'll keep an eye on where this goes. And that, my friends, is the president's
daily brief for Thursday, 28 September. If you have any questions or comments, reach out to us at
PDB at thefirsttv.com. I'm Mike Baker. Until tomorrow, stay informed. Stay safe. Stay cool.
