If you've listened to my podcast, the President's Daily Brief, you know that we cover the news,
why you should care, and solutions to our problems. But you might not know a lot about me.
So let me introduce myself. I spent well over a decade in America's intelligence community as an ops officer.
My job was to recruit spies and still secrets. It was the stuff at James Bond or Jason Bourne.
I got to travel the world from Asia to Africa and focus on really hard missions, like stopping terrorism
and the spread of weapons of mass destruction.
It was a life that I could have never dreamed of as a kid.
At times, I thought I was in a movie.
You see, I grew up on my family's farm and ranch in Oregon.
It was the same one that my ancestors had homesteaded in 1872,
which was 20 years after they came across the Oregon Trail.
My father was a farmer and a rancher and a logger.
Still is.
My mom stayed at home for the first five years of my life
and managed the house and three very rambunctious kids.
Growing up, we weren't an especially political family. After all, we had crops to grow and cattle to raise. But we were mostly conservative Democrats. My grandparents had benefited from FDR when he gave us electricity in the telephone. My parents were politically inspired by Jack Kennedy and his focus on defeating communism and being of service to the nation. But things really started to change for me and my family in the 90s. The local timber mill shut down and a big company came in and sold off in chunks.
Our little town started dying. A lot of people left. Some stayed behind and did the best they could,
but I started seeing people fall victim to really bad choices, to booze and drugs. And that includes
people in my own family. When I left for college, I made a vow to myself to make something of my life,
to not fall victim to booze and drugs, to make people proud. I also promised myself that I'd never
forget their pain, the struggle of my people, the working class. Now, I thought I belonged to a political
party, the Democrats who felt the same. They were champions of the workers, right? But for over the past
10 years, it's become really obvious that they're much bigger fans of big tech and big corporations.
Moreover, I kept hearing him talk about how bad America is and incredibly how bad we've always
been. To quote New York's former Democrat governor, he said, America's never been that great.
That's just awful stuff. And it hurt because I had spent over a decade being of service to my country.
I had sacrificed for America. My brothers and sisters in uniform had sacrificed for America, too.
20 years in Afghanistan, for example. Folks, I have friends who don't have arms or legs because of
their sacrifice. I have buddies who deal with PTSD every single.
day. And so I left the CIA and the Democrat Party, and I found a new mission. I started writing for
newspapers, going on TV and radio. Reason? Because if we want to stop the next 20-year war,
if we want to prevent another communist regime like China from stealing our jobs, if we want to make
America a more perfect union like we're challenged to do in the preamble of our Constitution,
normal people like you and I have to talk about what's really going on in this country and the world.
We have to talk about the news, what it means, why it's important, and then what to do about it,
all to keep our politicians honest and to make America exceptional.
And that's what this podcast is all about for me.
The President's Daily Brief is going to take complicated things happening around the world,
stuff that's really important, and use my background as a former CIA officer to help translate it all
into a conversation that's just as smart as the actual President's Daily Brief, but for people
like you and I. Now, we're not always going to agree, and that's all right. But if you tune in,
I think you're going to find that the President's Daily Brief gives you some clarity on really
tough issues. I think it's going to give you the information you need to run the country
we all deserve. So thanks for listening to. I'm truly grateful.
