Starting point is 00:00:00 Before we get started, Juliet, I wanted to mention that the ringer.com, the place where we do all of our labor. The ringer now has merch. Merch. Go to bitly.com slash ringer merch where you can find shirts and hoodies, and a portion of the proceeds from each purchase will benefit charity water, a nonprofit organization that provides clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. Again, go now to bitly, B-I-T-L-Y-com slash ringer merch to get those hoodies. Welcome to the Ringer NBA show. It's time for sources day, and I am Juliette-Litman.
Starting point is 00:00:45 I'm Chris Ryan. It's so great to be here, Juliet. It's finally NBA summer. Yeah. I can't believe it. No more, well, except for Dionne Waiters. And LeBron James. LeBron James, Dionne Waders, and I think Lance Stevenson are the last holdouts.
Starting point is 00:00:56 And Donatus. You know what occurred to me? De Natus Monti Unis? Really? Also Josh Smith. Oh, is he not saying that? No, he hasn't. That's quite a team.
Starting point is 00:01:05 Do you think that a team? That's a great five sum. Lebron, Dion, Donatus, Lance. who's the five-sum? Who's the fifth? Josh Smith. And Josh Smith. Do you think they could beat the Warriors?
Starting point is 00:01:16 Interesting question. Yeah. Huh. Probably not. But I think like with the right, maybe they got Steve Kerr. If you take Steve Kerr away from the Warriors and you gave them to this team of still free agents, then perhaps. Like I don't know. I feel like, I feel like LeBron and Steve Kerr could have a great partnership because I just feel like Steve Kerr would like really values.
Starting point is 00:01:37 Don't put any ideas in Joe Laco's head. sorry um of that five well of that four because obviously lebron's your number one who who would you most want of that four do you you even have to ask so deion lance philly is in a situation where so dion put up an instagram that says trust the process while he did indeed and i was thinking that like this is this is the best part about the process is that we have so much money to play with and not really that many people who really like want to come to the sixers but why not not sign a Philly guy. That's a great point.
Starting point is 00:02:10 And not even a Philly guy, because Deion's from Philly, but a Philly guy in attitude as well. Because Philly is the most, like, clapping for the ball type city. Uh-huh. You know, and it's like, we haven't really had a true Philadelphia dickhead athlete like that in a minute. You know, like, there's like a... If Deion was on the Sixers, like, which option would he be? One, two, three, four, five.
Starting point is 00:02:30 In Deion's mind or in Brett Brown's mind? No, we know in Deon's mind always number one. I would think of Deon as the safety valve. Okay. So whenever the young guys was having a hard time making a decision, he could just pass it to Dion who would inevitably be clapping for the ball. And then he would just be like, okay, I got this. So he would be option one but option four at the same time. Right.
Starting point is 00:02:50 Okay. Do you think that he would be good for the development of Ben Simmons, Jarsar, Sard, Chau, Mide, Nirling, Nogh, and Jha? Yeah, for sure. Particularly Jha. Yeah. Jah. Do you think he's going to get traded, Okford? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:03:03 He don't think he can play basketball right now because of his neat, right? Let's talk Embed for a second. Like, where is your excitement level with Embed? I'm psyched about the Sixers. I'm so pumped. There's an Instagram today, Ben Simmons put up of him wearing a Iverson throwback and Gucci flip-flops with socks. And some fancy sweatpants, too, which I didn't immediately recognize. Sitting on the head of a nice car.
Starting point is 00:03:22 Of a Bentley. Not just a nice car or a Bentley. Sorry. A B for Ben. Car and driver magazine. Sorry about that. Well, I think that maybe this is because we work for Bill Simmons. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:03:31 But I just feel like there's a lot of like opportunities on his name that he could really go for. So I think Bentley is like smart. Like if your name is Ben, go for the car that's like, oh, like Ben Lee. Yeah. Like I just feel like he's up. Is there a Juliette car that you could get? Um, a Nissan Versa. That's, that's a Juliet car, aka the car that I have.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Yeah. Not swagged out at all. Cars aren't important to me. I'm from New York. Um, but I just feel like Ben Simmons is doing a great job like with his, with his branding, but I'm not surprised. He's, he's a clutch dude. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Speaking of branding. Yes. Great. We want to talk about Team USA. Yes. That's where this is the nice part about getting to the, this part in the summer, especially in a year like this where there's an Olympics. We get out of free agency.
Starting point is 00:04:10 We get out of all the trades. We get out of all the like, where is so-and-so going to go? What's this person going to sign for? Is it a good deal? And we get to representing America the best way we know how with Team USA basketball. Okay. So I have been really closely monitoring Team USA. Of course.
Starting point is 00:04:25 I wouldn't expect anything else from you. Because all I want to do is watch the new warriors interact with each other. And I also want to see Harris. And judge them. Judge them. And I want to see Harrison Barnes interact with them. And Team USA knows that we're all looking for this, and they're just not giving it to us. I can't get a single shot of Draymond, Clay, and KD standing within two feet of each other.
Starting point is 00:04:44 Right. I saw Draymond and KD walking with each other, right? You did? Yeah, I think so. And then there was a piece today. I think Kevin Ding wrote it for Bleacher Report that was basically about Draymond and KD, or no, Carmelo and KD, taking on the leadership role that LeBron had played in the last Olympics, because they were the only two other players who were on.
Starting point is 00:05:05 the past the last Olympics. Why is Mello on this team? Why wouldn't he be on this team? Because none of his friends are. I love Mello. Okay. And I love Mello the Olympian. I like Mello. Also like, you know, he's been very vocal speaking about like God and violence. Yeah. And I really respect that a lot. But that has nothing to do with why he's on this team. You should just announce your biases here. You come from a family of torture Knicks fans who don't like Carmelo. And I think it. The L word losers. And I think it really has impacted the way you see him. Yes, it has. That's correct. And I also think that many people see him that way. What does he have to show other than his two gold medals? A national championship with Syracuse that he won single-handedly. He was part of a really fun Denver Nuggets team.
Starting point is 00:05:48 So I think what we've concluded. Should have won supporting actor Oscar for Linsanity. I think what we've learned here is that he excels in amateur basketball. Okay. If that's what you want to call Syracuse, sure. Good point, good point. No, I just, I don't know. Like why. With all of these guys, it's sort of like the risk of injury, especially someone like Paul George. Who on that team would you rather follow as a leader than Carmelo? That's a great question. There's not like a clear leader to me. This is kind of going-
Starting point is 00:06:17 Draymond has to take a back seat because he's smacked a dude in the face in East Lansing. He's got, yeah, he's got litigation pending. Quick side note. I saw Draymond out in about recently. Okay. How's he doing? He just like rolled in to this party completely solo. S-P's party.
Starting point is 00:06:33 Yeah, S-P's party. solo. I loved it. I loved it. Me too. I thought that was really cool, but I was just very surprised. Maybe he's just going low pro. Low pro. Yeah. Also, if you're Dremont Green, like, why do you need a crew? Yeah, you just, I don't know. You're a one-man personality dynamo. Yeah, you're just like. So I just think it's like, Dremont's probably chilling a little bit. He doesn't want to be like up in people's faces, telling them what to do, where to go. Clay is looking at pictures of his bulldog and his phone. So he's busy. And crying over the fact that his aunt is keep getting blocked out of Team USA pictures. Incredible. Incredible. Incredible. Incredible.
Starting point is 00:07:04 I think Kyrie could be a leader. So apparently it's like Katie and Mello are the forward-facing leaders, and they organized a dinner in which they had choice tequila and fine and great tacos. Wow, is it Casamigos? I don't know. I hope so. I don't know. And then, but on the side, like, Kyrie is Coach Kay's guy.
Starting point is 00:07:24 Oh, what a surprise. So Kyrie has been watching scrimmages and doing a lot of talking with Coach Kay. The Coach K effect is really fascinating because obviously is Kyrie the only Duke guy on this team. He is, right? I think so. And Kyrie also might be having, I think Kyrie's having an incredible summer. He is having an incredible summer. Won the NBA title, completely, like, answered all critics. Yeah, particularly us. Like, I have to completely change my tune on Kyrie. Low key had just as hard of partying, like, celebration as JR. Perhaps harder. Nobody, like, because it wasn't a meme, like, but he was in Vegas, like, standing in a pool wearing his own
Starting point is 00:07:59 sneakers. Yeah. And then he, he also was, like, on. And bad for the sneakers. Some like beach party. Like there's like a lot of Kyrie partying pictures. And I also saw him out at these parties. How was he doing? Seemed like he was having a great time. I have a couple of calves thoughts. Hit me.
Starting point is 00:08:13 Okay. Let's do it. It's a free flowing conversation. Number one, there's a lot of talk about like NBA players. Are they really as tall as they claim there? I think Channing Fry might be underselling himself, Kevin Durant style. That dude is tall. I was very surprised.
Starting point is 00:08:24 Okay. I was very surprised by Channing Fry's true height. A. B. Kevin Love seemed like he was in the mix. Like people just seemed to like be embracing him. Right. You were telling me this.
Starting point is 00:08:33 Like Kevin Love is in the Goonies. He's in, yeah. They love him. He's in the crew. Like, he's part of it. He's in the mix. Like, in. Like, I have no questions.
Starting point is 00:08:43 There was no, like, Kev, go get us. No. Yeah. He's just in. Like, I saw it with my own eyes. I liked it a lot. Can you give me just a fly on the wall detail of what you're talking about? Sure.
Starting point is 00:08:52 Like, um, cabs walk in together to this party. And, uh, they go straight to the bar. And like the, it's like calves plus, like, plus women. And, yeah. entourage or whatever. The three, it's kind of like a mob moving forward. The three guys leading this charge are Kevin Durant or Kevin Love, LeBron James and Channing Fry.
Starting point is 00:09:12 We already know Channing Fry's the glue guy. LeBron's the captain. And so then his skipper has got to be Kevin Love. I was really happy to see it. Also, Kevin Love has shaved his beard. Okay. He looked very handsome, also very thin. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:09:26 I think that if Kevin Love had just kept his look a little tighter during the finals and the playoffs, I don't know. I think that his scraggliness and the headband with the must hair really did contribute to people being like, you're a corn dog. Well, he started off the season really badly with that crazy hair and headband situation. But he looks great. Like, he just looked like, like, when I saw this banana, Republic ads, I was like, why do they
Starting point is 00:09:49 Photoshop him so much? And now I realize it actually was not Photoshop that much. He looks great. Okay. So I was really happy for Kevin. He's like he's in the mix. He's part of the crew. He seemed like he was having a good time.
Starting point is 00:09:59 Like, also, like, often during press conferences, he seems so nervous. So I guess he just maybe he doesn't like to public speak. I've had to revise so many of my Cavs thoughts. It's really humbling. Channing Fry is tall. Kevin Love is in the mix. Is there a third one? Third is Kyrie rolls with like these two dudes.
Starting point is 00:10:20 Like that seemed to be always with him in many of his Instagrams and then like we're with him in person. Okay. So he's not uncommon in the NBA. No, of course not. But just I think that kind of goes back to the party thing where it's like he's always ready for the party because he always like has his guys with him. But he's like, the thing is is that you got to know when the party's like. over. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:34 And it sounds like he knew. It sounds like he knows. And he knows the party ends by sitting next to Coach K. Yeah. Is he like, I feel like people, I mean, Pop is going to take over. But like, do you think Coach K is like the ultimate dawn of basketball at all levels? I, they, I don't know. It just seems like his effect is so strong.
Starting point is 00:10:53 I think that it's questionable. I've always thought it was like a little questionable how he gets to be the team USA coach and the Duke coach and have such an influence over who gets. gets to be an Olympian versus, you know what I mean? When was the last Duke scandal? Oh, I don't know. Are we all just like looking the other way? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:11:11 There's no way Duke follows every rule. I doubt it. There's just no way. There's just no way. So anyway, that's my Cabs report. You know, I'm happy for those guys. I just seem to them having a great summer. And meanwhile, LeBron doesn't have a care in the world.
Starting point is 00:11:25 This is the thing about Team USA that I love. Okay. Is that it is the Great Redeemer. So Kyrie gets to have yet another very victory lap after this partying over the summer. God bless him. Like, go party. You got a great finals.
Starting point is 00:11:39 But now it's like, Boogie gets to come in and have a great, like, experience away from the losers in Sacramento, even though, you know what I mean? Like, it's like, Boogie gets to be a gold medalist and have experience of these guys. And we get to see Boogie in a light basketball fans get to look at him in a different way that they usually would. Yeah. I'm going to go out there in a limb and say the team I would say it's going to gold medal. Wow.
Starting point is 00:12:02 Wow, Chris. What a bold prediction. It's going to be really, like, meaningful for Paul George. Yeah. Come back from that injury to be a gold medalist after kind of a, like, you know, a season in which he, like, the Pacers weren't that good. He's still getting his legs back. And he's going to get to win the gold medal.
Starting point is 00:12:18 Bougie. I mean, what, who, Boogie, this is probably going to be like the peak of Buggie's early career. Totally. He moves on from Sacramento. No offense. I hope does. Sorry, Sacramento. We're not rooting against you.
Starting point is 00:12:29 I agree with you, particularly someone like Paul George, who is so good, but it doesn't seem like he's really ever going to. would be in a deep playoff run for a couple years. This is fun for him. I just am dying to know what HB thinks now. I think HB is probably in a really good spot because he's like probably the best, like the youngest.
Starting point is 00:12:48 I know that Dirk is the best player on the Mavericks, but HB is going to get a lot of looks. Yeah, yes. I hope he succeeds. I feel like he could do Oliver Carlow. Oh, yeah. But I just, so can you tell me more with the Kevin Ding article because I'm just dying for information like on their dynamics.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Yeah, it was just basically about D. So KD is in the leader role. role and that like the implication being that this could be a similar role that he could play on the Warriors. Interesting. It's like any that he's not a very vocal leader, but that he's learning that with all the years he's put in that his experiences of like are valuable and that he can share experience of people.
Starting point is 00:13:18 So they were saying like LeBron used to be very big on like go here, be here, this is what you have to do now. Not even not micromanaging but just kind of like I've been through the ringer with this. I know how to do it. And now that Kate and now Katie and Mello are those guys. Right. Because there's no CP3. there's no Dwayne Wade, there's no LeBron.
Starting point is 00:13:35 No Russ. No Russ. Damn. Rather, and I think that the KD. Russ stuff is kind of gotten a little, it's starting to look a little raw, yeah. Yeah. I feel bad for us. Katie has said a couple of times, like it's never going to be the same with us.
Starting point is 00:13:49 He's probably pretty mad at me. I mean, that's realistic. At least Kevin's being realistic. Yeah. I mean, Russ hasn't said anything about you. Of course not. He's just on vacation with his boo. But the fact that they've renounced the rights to Dion is some people are taking that to mean
Starting point is 00:14:02 that they think they have. like they could give Russ the extension now. Yeah. I mean, I hope that they do. Rust totally seems like someone who would just be a one team guy. I could see him signing like a two or three year extension with Oklahoma.
Starting point is 00:14:15 And then moving on perhaps after. I don't know if that makes any financial sense, but. Me neither. I feel like also. The amount of places that he can go that would need a point guard. I mean, I know that most teams would probably be like whatever point guard we have
Starting point is 00:14:27 we'll get rid of for Russell Westbrook. But should the Lakers trade for us? I don't think so. I think that's like, overestimating where you are. I mean, even Durant said that when he was like, no disrespect for the Lakers. It's just they're just not where I am in my arc of my career. Right. I think for most superstars who are approaching 30 now, that would be the case.
Starting point is 00:14:43 And if I'm the Lakers, why not just go with Julius, DiAngelo, and Brandon, and see what you have and not blow it up early just to get one guy. I know it's the Lakers. They're going to do it anyway. Lakers going to be Lakers. Yeah. They seem like they are loving life with Luke Walton. I know. They said he gives us.
Starting point is 00:15:02 a lot of positive reinforcement. The Walton family's having a great time. I don't mean the Walmart. Isn't it crazy how it seems like just the secret sauce of being an NBA coach is to create a fun working environment? I think that's true. Where people enjoy coming to work? I think that's true for a lot of work environments.
Starting point is 00:15:16 Yeah, but it's like NBA and basketball in general is such like you imagine a thing like where it's like Tibbs yelling at you or Popovich pulling you out of a game because you didn't do something right. And I'm sure that that will happen. I'm sure Luke Walton has his rules and regulations. But it's crazy. Those guys just seem like completely like, oh, I didn't know that this could be fun. And when you think about them being like 20 years old and the only thing they know is Byron Scott and losing.
Starting point is 00:15:42 Sure. One of my deep hopes is that DeAngelo Russell just like turns things around. Like not basketball wise because he's quite good. What a second chance that guy's got. But I just really hope that like this season he can find some friends and stand the court consistently. About him keep saying he keeps saying I have ice in my veins. That's like his catchphrase. I think it's strong branding once again.
Starting point is 00:16:01 As a woman of mantras, I support it. I repeat myself very frequently. I can only be me. Okay. That's one. And wherever I stand, I stand with Mike Malone. That's number two. And number three, this is the throwback to my former podcast of David Jacoby.
Starting point is 00:16:17 I'd rather have horror stories and zero stories is another personal mantra. Really? Yeah. You never heard that one? I haven't. It's usually in regards to like dating and such. Okay. But I think it's a pretty good life one in general.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Do it for the story. Okay. DeAngelo Russell has a great. great story about how he potentially broke up a marriage and now he's still on the league. Nick Young is out of the league and single. Also unsigned, right? Or no. He's, yeah. Yeah, he is still. He is not signed. He's unsigned. That's rough. I think the Nick Young experiment might be over. Might be done. Should we, should we hire him, the ringer? Sure. Get him back on the Sixers. What should we put him in charge of? Video, for sure. Politics. No, video. He's got a lot of experience.
Starting point is 00:16:54 Okay. Good joke. Thanks. Well, also, Bill Walton's like out here. Like, Bill Walton's Playing Pokemon. Playing Pokemon. He had a book come out a few months ago. He's getting into e-sports heavy. Yeah. It's really interesting. Like, is it just like more interest in the Walton's because Luke is in L.A.?
Starting point is 00:17:13 Like, does that just come with being a coach of the Lakers? I never really been that interested in Bill Walton, TBH. Really? Yeah. Did you like him as an announcer? I was indifferent. I kind of thought he was a little bit, like, fine. Yeah, he was fine.
Starting point is 00:17:23 Of the father's son and NBA duos that we know well, like, where, like are the Walton's top five for you? So there's the Curries. The Tories. The Thompson's. We've got more. We've got Walton's. We've got the Robinson's, Glenn.
Starting point is 00:17:39 I think the Robinson's are my favorite. Hardaways? I think the Walton's over the Hardaways. Interesting. Hardaway are tough to pick. But there's some interesting stories about Tim Hardaway, senior, out there now about, like, his, how he's changed in his life. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:17:53 I love the father-son NBA storylines in general. Because you just bring so much more into, like, you're in too much more baggage into who you are in the league. Let's bring it full circle if we're talking about family. Who would be your Team USA family? Who would be your clique? You guys are going out for tacos and tequila. Or you're just hanging out on a Sunday day off,
Starting point is 00:18:13 maybe playing a little mini golf, whatever. That's a great question, Chris, and I'm going to answer. But first, let me tell you about some of our sponsors. Let's begin with Casper, a brand that we are both fans of. I love Casper. I do too. I love sleeping. I have a Casper mattress, and it is very comfortable.
Starting point is 00:18:27 It was easy to put down on my bed. It came to my door. It was just there for me. and I've not looked back. It's been a great experience. In case you don't know about Casper, though, let me just tell you. It's a sleep brand that created one perfect mattress
Starting point is 00:18:38 sold directly to consumers, eliminating commission-driven and inflated prices. I didn't even know the mattress business was commission-driven. But when you think about it, it makes sense. Yeah, totally. Yeah. Because, like, everyone needs one,
Starting point is 00:18:48 how many can you sell, et cetera, I wish they did this with cars where cars just came in a box. Oh, my God, me too. I can totally go for a new one. Anyway, Casper is an award-winning sleep surface that was developed in-house. It has a sleep design
Starting point is 00:18:59 and is delivered in a small hat do that sized box? In addition to the mattress, Casper offers an adaptive pillow and soft, breathable sheets. An in-house team of engineers spent thousands of hours developing the Casper. It combines springy latex and supportive memory foams for a sleep surface that's got just the right sink and just the right bounce. Plus, its breathable design sleeps cool to help you regulate your temperature through the night. Mattresses can often cost well over $1,500. But Casper mattresses cost $500 for a twin, $600 for a twin XL, $7.50. for a full, 850 for a queen, and 950 for a king.
Starting point is 00:19:35 That's the one for you, right, Chris? I am the king. You're the yellow king of sleeping. Buying a Casper mattress is completely risk-free. Casper offers free delivery and free return to the 100-night home trial. I think I'm still in my 100-night trial, but I would not give mine up. I'm really into it. If you don't love it, they'll pick it up and refund you everything.
Starting point is 00:19:54 Casper understands the importance of truly sleeping on a mattress before you commit, especially considering you're going to spend a third of your life on it. $50 towards any mattress purchased by visiting casper.com slash MBA and using offer code MBA. Terms and conditions apply. Hey, we got another sponsor, Chris. Yeah. Seekek. We know all about Seekek and boy do we like them.
Starting point is 00:20:15 Buying tickets online for sports and concerts has been a confusing process for a long time. It's always been hard to find the best deal for that gamer show you want to go to and none of the older ticket sites want to change that. But Seekek is different. They've come along and they've created an amazing app and website that makes it easy. easier than ever for fans to buy and sell tickets. With Seekkeek, you'll never need to waste time checking prices on other ticket sites. Seat Geek does that for you by pulling all the tickets available on other sites into one place so you save time and you never miss a deal. Seekek wants to help you get the most bang for your buck and that's why every ticket on Seekek is given a grade
Starting point is 00:20:49 based on value. You'll immediately see any underpriced seats and be able to find the best deals that fit your budget. Best of all, if you're listening to this, you get $20 rebate off your first seat geek purchase. All you need to do is use the code ringer MBA. Juliet, you know what? There's so many shows coming to Dodger Stadium this summer. I wonder whether or not, I mean, like, first of all, there's Beyonce. Oh shit. Guns and Roses. Whoa. And then at the Greek theater this summer, Ryan Adams is also playing. I'm trying to check that out. It's big for you.
Starting point is 00:21:18 I've been using Seatgeek for all of my ticket purchases this summer. And plus the Phillies are coming to Dodger Stadium in August. Damn, Chris. It's your time. It's all happening. I'm just like living up in Dodger Stadium. It's all happening and you've got Seatgeek to make your dreams come true. Remember to use ringer MBA on your first purchase to get $20 off. Okay, let's talk about Team USA some more. As like a basketball figure, I in some ways feel conflicted about Kevin Durant just because I'm dreading this season of the Warriors. But I think he seems like a good dude. Okay. So I think also, yeah, cool hang. Yeah, cool hang. I think he's like a curious human, which I like a lot. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:46 So I'm going to put KD. Um, I really want the best for Paul George. Yeah. So like I just want to like, well, look, we have to use the information that we have. So I want to let you know that Paul George enjoys lots of outdoor activities. Oh, no. And I can never tell if that's like something. I think you admire the outdoors visually. Yeah, don't want to be a part of the outdoors. You don't want to go fishing or camping.
Starting point is 00:22:05 Fuck no. So PG's out. PG's out. I guess Kyrie. I think Kyrie and Katie would be fun. That would be awesome if you were on Team USA and just walked up to PG and you were like, fuck the outdoors. I was like fishing.
Starting point is 00:22:14 No thanks. See ya. Go back to Indiana, bro. I forgot he loves a fish. Also, he's tight with Reggie Jackson. I wonder if that's hard for him in Cam Durant because Paul George is so tight with Reggie. Guys are friends with everybody.
Starting point is 00:22:26 They went to Spain together. Nobody's friends with us. But they went to Spain. together. That's intense. That's different. Yeah. It's just different. Okay. So no PG, obviously. I don't think buggy. I think I like buggy more like from a distance, like the outdoors. Okay. So I've got Kyrie. I've got Katie. Who else do I really like on my team? Clay? Oh, yeah, Clay for sure. Yeah. I would hang out Harrison Barnes during the day and Dremont at night. Ooh. Yeah. So that's kind of like Harrison Barnes likes to go to food trucks, check out a movie,
Starting point is 00:22:53 go to reading. I think Barnes and Katie could be friends. Sure. They both seem kind of smart. Who are we missing? Who else is on the team? Oh, DeAndre, DeAndre Jordan, nope. Kyle Lowry and Dea and DeMarre. Those guys seem like fun. Best buddies.
Starting point is 00:23:07 They seem really nice. But they might be like a little bit difficult to break into, you know. Kyle Lowry seems like a really good dude. Yeah. Like just like a great guy. Great guy, great guy. Great guy, Kyle Lowry. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:23:16 It seems like a fun bunch in general. Yeah, okay. I was just trying to provoke an answer. Who's your team? I think I'd roll with Kyle and DeMar. We the North. Interesting. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:26 But like what about how we insulted? Toronto. Did we? I thought you did. Oh, I thought we did that together. I thought you laid into Toronto. Remember you were like my, our have few of my mentions. Oh, right. I forgot that wasn't you as well. It was just me. I mean, I'll take the blame for it. But every time I watch Clay to get corner three in practice, I'm just like get used to that corner, buddy. You're not leaving it for the entire season. Just take one per day. Because you have to get used to until I know one per night. Poor Clay. My Clay Thompson shirt came though. I've been wearing it home a lot. That's pretty exciting. Thanks. Thanks so much, Chris. Who else are you, like, tracking this summer now?
Starting point is 00:23:59 Like, what else are you interested in? A lot of Sixers for me, been interested in the Lakers. I really enjoyed the Summer League final between the T-Wolves and the Bulls. And I think Denzel Valentine could be a really cool player if he gets to touch the ball at all between Jimmy, Dwayne and Rondo. The Bulls are a hot mess. Tea Wolves, is anything, can anything go wrong for these guys? Knock on wood? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:24:22 Hopefully not. I love Tyos Jones. Tibbs is in the building. Hope KG doesn't retire. entire. Towns is like a god this summer. Like what a summer for him. Towns is on Twitch. Megan Schuster wrote this article for Ringer.com about how Carl Towns has just been like on Disney shows on Twitch broadcasting his online monopoly games that he plays with people. He just seems like the biggest like goofball nice dude ever. I love Carl Towns. Yeah. I want only the
Starting point is 00:24:48 best for him like extreme happiness. Yeah. I just want him to be happy. Hanging out, he was at a summer league game with a sleeveless Metallica t-shirt hanging out with Tibbs. so great. He also wears really great glasses. He seems like a great dude. I hope that team like goes far. Like is there room for them in the Western Conference though? I think so. I think there's a couple of teams that are not as good. I hope so. I think they might be better than could they be better. I think they could be. Yeah. Towns is really good. They have a pretty deep, weirdly deep team if these guys all get a little bit better. Yeah, absolutely. And they've got tibs now. So I've been tracking the T-wolves. Are you still in on the Miami heat now that Dwayne Wade has left? I have to
Starting point is 00:25:26 admit, not as much. It doesn't have the same appeal. I would have been much more interested in Flash, Hassan, Dragich, Justice, and Josh than I am in Hassan, Justice and Josh. Justice and Josh. Do you draw and Draghage is so quiet? What's up for him? Where's he at? I probably in Europe back in his homeland. I am really into Justice and Josh on their hat club. Those guys are kings. I love them both. Like they just seem like they're great guys. I think that he will still be good. Yeah, they're Tyler. Johnson Instagram of them dancing in a parking lot. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:59 Pretty funny. Totally. Can I do a quick late pass? Sure. So I finally caught up with his running man dance craze. That's been that the Maryland students really push forward. Shout out to Mallory. Shout out to Mallory.
Starting point is 00:26:12 I think there should be like some kind of official process for every season of like college basketball. It could be NBA, but college is fine where there's like a dance. And like it just is like part of part of the culture. Dougie, the John Wall dance when he was at Kentucky. I loved it. Like, college basketball players dancing is probably like one of my favorite things to watch videos of. I also really like, I'm a sucker for like viral college crowds doing a dance in unison.
Starting point is 00:26:40 Like, you know what I'm talking about? Yeah, of course. When like the whole Maryland stadium did the Harlem shake. Yeah, it was great. God. I just like dance. I sound like I'm a thousand years old. Dance crazes in basketball is something that never gets old.
Starting point is 00:26:52 You might be aging, but dancing in basketball is always has a place. young. Yeah, I love, I just love it. I don't know, like, I feel like now that it's the summer and free agency is mostly over, I can like really catch up with what's important. And that is figuring out what the dance should be for the next season. I agree with you. Because like, Steph Curry has his pregame dance thing, but it's not that cool, obviously. And I don't know, I just want to throw that out there. I think we need like a dance every season. Have we talked about how will Warriors fans chant MVP? Oh my God, great question. You can only choose one person. You can't chant MVP for more than one person.
Starting point is 00:27:27 FYI, Newby Warriors fans. Welcome to basketball guys. You can only chant MVP for one person. That's a great question. And when they want to chant it for Clay, what do they do? I know that's why you were getting at. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:39 I mean, I was definitely thinking what about... What about Clay? What about McAdoo? What about Magadu? I don't know. I just really feel like it's so hard to imagine these two stars existing in the same constellation. We're the worst concern trolls for this team.
Starting point is 00:27:53 I can't wait to watch it play out. I am kind of excited about it because I just don't think it's going to go as well as everyone's expecting. There just needs to be a different league. I'm going to try and come up with a different way to judge teams aside from wins and losses. Oh, interesting. Do you have any prospective ideas? No, I mean, I'm just trying to figure out like what there needs to be basically like a tier. Like there's the Warriors and five other teams and then there's all the other teams.
Starting point is 00:28:13 So then I can maintain interest in the jazz and the pacer's and the bucks and the sixers and stuff like that. That's a really interesting idea. I told Bill I thought there should be like a knockout. Commissioner's Cup or something like that. Thanks. Yeah, I really, I really liked that idea of yours. And it is a good point. Like, we need our own, like, scoring system or something.
Starting point is 00:28:31 It's, like, it's kind of like a second kind of fantasy basketball. But there needs to be, like, wins, losses and but you guys are fun, too. Right. Right. It's almost like highlight real or something like that. Or, like, they should all just try to build a hard. Team chemistry. Or, like, just do the Cron globetrotter shit because what else are you going to do?
Starting point is 00:28:48 Something like that. We're going to be back for more Team USA. Sure. I can't wait. It's like, it's summer. I love it. Thanks for listening, everyone. Don't take me to the lake, PG. Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:28:57 Anything is possible.
