Hi, I'm Issa Kwanga and I'm Ryan Hunt
and we co-host Stadio, a football podcast
on the Ring of Podcast Network.
If you like soccer or football
make sure you search for Stadio, a football podcast
on Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
It's popping, real ones, Logan Murdoch, Roger, how you doing, buddy?
I'm good. I know it's early for you.
I'm glad. Thank you for getting up and accommodating.
Oh, it's cool, man. It's fine.
It's a random Tuesday edition of Real Ones
And Raja, you know, hit the chat yesterday, like, or not yesterday, but last week, like, hey, yo, we're going to do this recording an hour early.
And I don't know if he realized this, but everyone other than him is on the West Coast.
So that means, you know, we got to wake up at the, you know, ass crack of dawn and just get up.
So now we out here mobbing early rooms.
Let's do it.
I appreciate you, gentlemen.
I think what you guys failed to realize is a last-minute change in a schedule for the only person who has four kids really.
changes things on my end.
So the Tuesday at 12 is not available for
old Mr. Bell over here.
It's spoken for.
I have no rebuttal.
I have no rebuttal.
You know it's a great transition to that?
Fighting in the NBA. Let's talk about it.
Seenless.
Let's talk about it.
The biggest story in the NBA happened
last week.
Basically, Jermond Green lunging his whole body into Jordan Poole and punching him during a practice.
Reports came out last week initially that it happened.
The athletic, I believe, reported that.
And then, I believe the next day, the tape comes out on TMZ of the fight.
Raja, where were you when it happened?
What were your reactions?
What do you think?
what is what does all this mean right now oh that's get it to it that's a lot to unpack we got a
whole hour to do this rhod let's get to it that's a lot to unpack i don't remember where i was
when it when it happened um you know i remember i remember you know a draymond punched jordan
pool and i'm like okay well not great but not surprising maybe and
shit happens okay like okay like okay
Let's keep it moving.
And then when I saw that video, I had a lot of emotions rushed through me, a lot of thoughts, a lot of, a lot of anxieties for the warriors.
My brain was spinning kind of like it is now.
And I'd like to touch on a couple things.
First, from Jordan Poole's side of it.
And I want to make sure that I don't sound like.
I'm saying this is Jordan Poole's fault because it is absolutely 100% not what I'm saying.
But generally speaking, when someone invades your space to the degree that you feel like you have to shove them, you better put your fucking hands up.
Okay?
Like that's just 101, bro.
If that man is in your face and you feel the need to remove him from it, hands immediately up.
So I felt like then after my brain processed that, I felt like Jordan Poole wouldn't do that
probably because he regards Dremont as a real brother.
Right?
That would be the only circumstance where I would say, hey man, get up out of my face, bro,
and not throw my hands up immediately because there is no realm of possibility in which
this dude is now going to try to say.
separate my head from my shoulders, right? Because he loves me. And Dremont then did that.
And so I, listen, again, I forgive me because this is all, these are all the thoughts that are
going through my mind. So now I've just been lunged at by a dude who I love and think is my brother.
Like, what is going on in his mind to even approach me like that? I fight with friends. I'm sure
you've had fights with friends. Logan, I played on many a basketball team. I've never felt it
necessary to try to do that to somebody.
At my most angry
moment, mind you,
at every level. And I was
a hothead. So like at every level,
but, you know,
yeah, that's a tough one, man.
That's tough.
In the aftermath of the,
I wouldn't even call it a fight. It was
a one hit or quitter. It was done after that.
There's so many layers
into this. I want to start with
the Draymond level
of this first.
first, let me just get the timeline correct.
First, after he lunges into Jordan Poole and it's reported,
the Warriors GM Bob Meyer says,
okay, we're going to, you know,
we're going to do something internally,
either a fine or whatever,
something eternally, and he's not going to miss no game.
Video comes out, Jermont missing games.
And now you have this thing where
it feels like Jermont is going to have to rebuild
all the trust that he has accumulated over the years.
What is Draymond's path to being a serviceable teammate and a good teammate again?
What is his path to that?
What does he have to do to earn that from his teammates?
Contrition is where you start.
Real genuine, heartfelt conversations.
with the team and the party involved,
if he will take your audience,
because I've told you,
if I was Jordan Poole,
you couldn't say anything to me.
So if he can get an audience with the young man,
like real conversations.
And then there's no secret recipe for that, Logan.
That is just time.
And being a good dude.
and, you know, diving back into being a part of the culture.
I don't have a great answer for that because with such a vicious,
I've been in locker rooms where, you know, I got into a skirmish, you know,
with, let's say, my second year in the league.
We had big Alvin Jones from Georgia Tech.
Like, we were at University of Kansas in a scrimmage, and he hit me, I hit him.
Next thing, you know, we're wrestling around on the logo.
Like, Larry Brown's loving it.
Like we're, you know, we're, it's going down big seven foot 200.
But, you know, neither one of us connected or caught somebody in such a vulnerable position
that that you could have done like real physical harm to him.
Do you know what I mean?
This was this was what they tried to characterize the Draymond situation.
It happens on teams.
This happens.
Yeah, things happen.
I've seen them.
I've seen people get in.
And not just a hoop in every sport.
Every sport.
but this one was different.
And so I don't have a great answer as to how you earn the trust.
You just go about being the great dude that, I mean, most people say you've been for the organization.
You have to show a level of contrition and real genuine sorrow for your actions.
Logan, I don't know.
I've said this to you.
First of all, if I were Golden State,
I imagine that Golden State said to Drainman, hey, you either do this or we have to do this.
It would look a lot better if you did this, right?
So come out, have your press conference, say that you're stepping away so that we don't have to do what I think they should have done.
And I told you this on a text with Bill, with Bill Simmons.
10 games.
Yeah.
It's where I'm starting.
That's where I'm, it's where I got to start.
You said you also pushed it up to 22 if I remember the text correctly.
I said I would, but I think that I don't know that you could do that.
But I think you fractured the trust in the locker room to that degree.
It is that severe.
So that's where I would have started with that 10 games.
And then I also told you that if I was Jordan Poole, I'm not so sure I won't play with him anymore.
So there is the-
So let me just finish because I know what people always say.
Like whenever I say anything, anything I ever say anything in regards.
to like quote unquote dirty.
Here they come.
Oh, he was the dirtiest play.
Get the fuck out of here.
Like, I wasn't trying to hurt nobody.
Yeah, I had a moment where Kobe, you know, I had a moment.
But at the end of the day, I went out there trying to hurt anybody.
You tried to kill somebody.
Do you know what I mean?
You tried to, like, that's what that is, brother.
That is fucking aggravated assault.
Yeah.
And, you know, you talked about it briefly, but I got a little bit more knowledge on
you know, the, the, the, um, brotherhood that Dremonde and Jordan Poole have.
And, you know, in his press conference that, you know, you referenced,
Draymond said that he was just having a bad day, that he's been going through some personal
stuff and things like that off the court that he wouldn't get into.
That's not an excuse, one.
But into the brotherhood part of it, there, I can't tell you how much.
At a point in time, Jordan Poole looked up to Traymond, even through the arguments in all these things, right?
Like, there was a time when his, when during his first year, Jordan would just, you know, be the young guy that talks hell of shit during practice, right?
In front of the show, JTA would say he was talking a lot, but he wouldn't make no buckets, which drew the ire of a lot of the vets, right?
You know what vet defended Jordan Poole from, you know, all the vets saying,
man, man, get your mans.
What is he doing?
Get your man.
It was Draymond that defended him.
And another ironic thing is, you know who used to be the guy that would talk shit to
veterans all the time when he was young in the exact same way?
Draymond Green.
I don't know if you know this story, Raja, but when Draymond was a rookie, they, um,
gave him a veteran.
And he didn't like how his veteran was treating him.
It said, you ain't my veteran no more.
Give me another vet.
That's the type of person that Draymond is.
And they have, and it's just really interesting how one moment can fuck up the whole
fabric of a franchise right now.
And also, another wrinkle to this is,
the warriors really, really, really want to sign Jordan Poole to an extension.
Like, really, and there were whispers, you know, at least early on of,
I don't know if we can play together anymore.
I don't know if we can do this.
I don't, and I don't know if it's smoothed out at this point, but in the aftermath of the
punch, there was just, there was a lot of whispers out of JP's camp.
Just, I don't know if we can play anymore.
I don't know if we can do this.
Now, maybe that changes.
Maybe that, you know, time heals and all those things.
But this is really putting, I wouldn't say putting a wrench into the extension talks,
but it was definitely something where it was like, man, why would you do that?
It definitely affected it.
I will say that.
It affected, it is affected just how, because it will be one thing if Jordan Poole and Dremont weren't.
names if it was just two like scrubs that were doing this. So what? But these are two faces of the
French tribes that are not scrubs to NBA players. Two to other NBA players. Yes, not scrubs.
We've done this before. Yes. My bad. No bad. I needed a refresher on that one. Yeah.
My bad big dog. It'd be different. It was two training camp invites. Okay. Yes.
Fair point. Still very good players. Yes. Till very good players who would bust my ass,
bust all of our asses, right?
Except you because you played in the league.
But honestly,
right now.
Right now,
yeah,
probably right now,
probably right now.
But it'd be different if it was,
if it was two non-faces of the franchise going at it right now.
For sure.
But in this case,
this is really going to do,
this could really has the potential to do damage beyond,
not only this preseason,
but just beyond into the future.
Because,
you know, man,
Jamie was really affected by this.
This was his big homie.
This is like,
this is just a really big, just break in trust. It's huge because JP held Draymond in such high regard
at a point of time. And for him to do that, that messed a lot of things up. That makes it even more
tragic. I didn't know all of that backstory and context. I wasn't privy to all of that. I just was
looking at it at face value telling you as Jordan Poole in a situation like that, there was going to
be a real good chance that I tell you the organization, I don't want to play with him anymore.
When you add all of that into the mix, I'm not exactly sure what it does to my opinion of it
because there is an avenue to, man, I really looked up to that dude. And if I'm a forgiving
soul, I can figure out a way to do that. And then there's the other avenue of, man, you're just
not who I thought you were. If you'll do me like that, bro, you know what I mean? Like, I don't
have a great answer. I'm really, really, I feel.
terrible for the for the young man i feel i feel i feel lightweight bad for draymond and it's not excusing
anything he's done but i too know what it feels like to to flip out in a moment and then come like to
senses and be like jesus i just i just fucked everything up you know and that's a that's a that's not a
good place to be and it is your fault you have to own that and there is no you know i'm sure that draymond
went to that press conference seriously. Let me take you into his psyche. I'm sure he went to that
press conference as your brain is just flying, can't sleep, a million and one thoughts racing around
in your head, realizing that you just, you just did something just catastrophically bad. And I'm going to
go to this press conference and I'm going to tell everybody how sorry I am. And I am sorry because I
genuinely believe that he is and that he meant what he said in the press conference. And then
there's part of you that thinks when that's done, it might not be over, but man, I got it,
I got it that much closer to over.
If you could dig what I'm saying, like, this is going to help a lot.
And it just doesn't.
That doesn't help.
I mean, it's a tiny, it's a tiny fractional step in the process, but it's not what you're
thinking it's going to be when you're in the Draymond shoes.
I've been there.
You think that you've moved the bar, you know, feet in this equation.
you've moved it millimeters.
And so then you realize, man, there's just so much more work that has to be put in.
Will it, will it, will it ever be what it was?
And the answer to that has to play itself out.
I don't have it.
But I will say this.
Draymond's probably going to be just isolated in that locker room for the time being,
you know, he's just going to have to, you know, I'm not, I don't know,
I'd imagine, and you have been in a locker room before,
but I would imagine when Draymond returns, it's going to be,
the Warriors and
Draymond for a little bit, right?
He's going to be, he's going to be,
he might have his partners and things like that.
He might have some of the people in the organization
at Roxwood, but he's going to have to start
from the bottom to regain a lot of that trust back,
man. He's going to have to do that.

I do want to go to the Jordan Poole side of this.
As a young player, there is the urge to say, you know, especially when you're in extension talks, right?
Just to say, you know what, man, fuck this.
Let's break.
He's not done this yet.
He's not, or at all.
And, you know, he could sign this extension in the next week or so.
You know, he could, it could happen and he could stay.
But I'm just, just spitballing at this point.
You're a young player.
And there's this.
somebody does this to you.
And there's probably this urge to be like, you know what, fuck this.
I don't want to, I don't want to be here anymore.
I don't want to do all these things.
I want to, I'm going to play out my contract.
We'll see what we do this season.
And then I'm going to see where else I can go.
There's at least that urge, right?
What is the best course of action for JP going forward?
I have my thoughts and I'm going to get some of my thoughts,
but I really do want to ask, what do you think?
Is it, y'all, I'm just going to stick this out and see.
stay or I'm going to, I'm going to see my other options out there because I believe that
there are two ways he can go with this. There is, he can wait this out and be a face of this
warriors team because we both know this. The front office and the coaching staff say,
oh, JP's the next one. He's the one that we're going to try to build around with Steph in this next
generation or he can go take the bag elsewhere and it will never be the same for him.
What do you, what do you see for where Jordan should do going forward?
I think Jordan should breathe right now.
Just breathe. Just let it, let it, let it play itself out.
Don't, don't jump to any emotional demands or, or, you know, conclusions.
Just let, I believe the best place for Jordan Poole.
is Golden State.
I think from style of play,
from prior success,
to front office stability
and well-run organization,
to coaching staff,
to supporting cats,
any number of reasons,
area of country you want to live in,
city,
it is a great spot for Jordan Poole.
I don't know where Jordan Poole's head is at.
And when I tell you, again,
I can't say this enough.
when you feel like you've been, you were attacked.
Yeah.
So I don't know how safe he feels.
And also in that skirmish,
you could tell on the video, he didn't want that.
He didn't want it.
He didn't want no parts of that.
I'm telling you,
everybody came up on a basketball court
and around an area that your manhood got challenged
and you had to learn how to handle yourselves
in those situations.
And so when you're dealing with strangers
or people you're not hell of familiar with,
that immediate get in my face elicits to push and bam,
I'm squared up, we're ready to go,
because I don't know what's going to happen.
The only time that doesn't happen is when you're in the safe environment
and you know that just to shove away of your brother is enough to dead to sit,
man, cut that shit out, bro, stop playing with me.
Because he'll never attack me like that.
That's my brother.
That's my, he'll never do that to me.
And it was done to you.
I don't know where he's at.
So I don't know if he's so far gone in that regard that he's like,
yo, I just don't see it here, man.
I'm going to go get the bag somewhere else.
But in terms of overall success and seamless transition and what I think would be best for Jordan
Pool, it would be to remain in Golden State.
But that doesn't necessarily mean you have to do that like right now.
If there's something, you have some leverage, right?
Like if there's something that you want to see happen, you know, I'm going to pump my brakes.
I agree. I agree with you.
I agree with that sentiment.
I think the best course of action is for him to stay in gold in the state.
Even if he thinks him or me, right?
All you got to do is I think Draymond has a two years left on this deal,
one being a player option.
Just waded out.
Just be like, all right, I'm going to be here.
This is my team.
I think Draymond's 32.
Jordan's his early 20s.
Just, you know, even if that's what you want, even if that's what you ultimately want.
Now, you know, emotionally, you never know.
He could just be like, oh, get me out of here now.
But I don't think that that's, I don't think that that's necessarily the case.
I don't, I don't think that that's necessarily the case in this point.
If I, if I had to guess, I think that JP signs an extension, he remains a warrior,
and we'll see what happens with the Draymond situation as the months ago by.
But what do you feel about the argument of Dremont being Dremont?
This is, because I will say this.
There's always with the Warriors, there's always something they call like a Dremont initiation, right?
Not necessarily Fistacuffs, but like, you know, maybe a name here or there or push here or there or just like, I'm getting y'all in line.
Let's get it.
What do you think of that notion of Dremont being Dremont?
Yeah, I mean, sure, Dremont's going to be Dremont.
I was me, right?
Like, so when you're dealing, I know who Dremont is.
People knew who I was.
Some of what you get.
You understand it's part of the package, right?
Like, if you want the dive on the floor, take 30 charges, would break his elbow to win a game type of person,
you're going to have to deal with whatever goes on behind closed doors, provided it doesn't cross the line.
Right? So I understand the Dramon being Draman argument to a point.
You know, the first day I got to, Griff tells the story, the first day I got to Phoenix, we were in a pickup game and, you know, something happened.
And, you know, Amari was the big dog in Phoenix. And there's always a dude who, like, is going to debo to run because he made the call. And this is the way it's going to be. And it was my first day in there. And I, you know, I was like, nah, I should, nope, not happening.
And so me and Amari were chest to chest.
Like I was in there the first day.
But no, no.
But that's, you know, so that was Raj being Raj.
But it didn't rise to the level of this.
Neither from.
You know, when you, when you did that, when you knew that you were going to go chest to chest with stat, right?
Which is, which is similar situation to Jordan Poole, Draymond, before the punch is thrown, right?
Right.
When you're going, when you're going chest to chess with a player, especially a star player, like,
damn, Roger, you really, you really lit on the first day.
what is going through your mind when this happens?
Like, bro, I just got to show him like, Brian, about that shit,
but he's also my teammate.
Like, what is going through your mind?
What's up when a skirmish like that happens?
You know, I didn't really know, I didn't know Amari from Adam at the time.
So there wasn't hell of trust built up.
There wasn't any secure, like, I don't know what's going to happen in this situation.
But it's organic, right?
Kind of, I mean, if you get pushed around in a pickup game and a mofo is allowed to debo,
you, then, I mean, what, I'm going to be getting debowed for the whole time I'm in Phoenix.
Like, I'm not about to start no precedent like that.
So, you know, it's just what it is.
And you, you are on alert.
Like, I don't, again, within, you know, anybody trying to hurt nobody in the NBA.
Man, we're all making a living.
We're all doing this.
You know, some things got to get ironed out and we have to get on the same page relationship-wise,
but no one's trying to hurt anybody.
So my first thought isn't like to steal on somebody.
just, you know, we got to get this straight. Now, if it ever rises, if I see that look in your
eye, yes, I will throw the hands up and then it is what it is. But provided I don't see the look
or feel threatened like that, we're just going to, we're going to just have these words and then
then it's over. And it was. And Stademeyer and I, Mari and I are cool. Man, our coaches son
at American Heritage. Once, so again, the Dremont being Dremont, I get it. It comes with all of the good
stuff that you get out of Draymond.
But once you cross the line, and I've always said this, it is a fine line.
When you're dealing with a very emotional player, they tend to, you know, I was one of them.
Like, they tend to be your emotional leaders for that reason, because they ride hot.
And when, you know, the going gets tough, man, they're standing with the chest out, like,
ready to take a bullet or do whatever they have to do for the team to win.
but that same person will go over the line consistently.
It's just whether or not that really, really hurts your team or not.
And most coaches understand, yo, I got to give him a little leash to go over the line.
Steve Kerr said it.
Mike DeAntoine used to say it about,
Mike DeAntoine used to say it about me.
Anybody who's run or test coaches would say it about him.
We got to give him some leash because if we take that away from him, we don't get the same guy.
He goes right up to that line.
Sometimes he crosses it and we're okay with it provided it doesn't really, really hurt us.
And what happened in this instance with Draymond being Draymond is you cross the line,
but you crossed it too far, bro.
So last year, or a few months ago, I was at the game six of the NBA finals.
And one of the things that I saw that was a good indicator of where the Warriors head was at
going into that game was Draymond pregame right before his warmups,
basically dapping up everybody on the Warriors bench
with the look of like,
oh, we're going to kick their ass tonight.
Don't even trip, right?
Giving the team that confidence
because he has that confidence.
Now that he's in a place where
he,
the trust has been eroded, right?
There is no other emotional leader
on this team, right?
How does, who steps up or what happens?
That doesn't happen.
That doesn't, that does, that doesn't happen unless you have a guy in your locker room who is already built like that, but is being suppressed by Dremont, if that makes sense.
Not in a bad way, but it's not his turn yet.
Like if, if one of those, and I don't, I don't see it because, you know, I know their team is fairly well.
I think is the closest thing on that, that team, but he's too old.
Yeah, exactly.
Too old.
So, you know, I say what a, that, this is why I would have suspended Dremont off the bat.
I would have suspended him because I know I can't win without Dremont.
As an organization, I can't win without Dremont.
As great as we are and as limited as he can be at times offensively, he makes us work.
He makes us go.
I mean, that backbone is critical to what we do.
And so I also need to protect my interest as it pertains to Jordan Poole.
Man, that's the future.
I have to make this a good look.
So I'm not condoning that.
I'm going to come down, Draymond, you know you fucked up.
All right?
Listen, look at me.
You know, you know you fucked up.
No, man, no, man.
No, man.
Hey, man, come on.
But, hey, but coach.
You know you messed up.
But coach, bro.
And so here's what it's going to be.
All right.
You fucked up.
I'm suspect, you're suspended for 10, 15.
That's the price of doing business.
All right?
Jordan, check this out.
We don't condone that at all.
We sat him down.
Okay?
We know you're the future.
You know, we want.
We want this to work out.
You got to understand that, you know, we might have a window with two more years here.
But, Coach, you see him do this shit to me, bro.
Absolutely.
And he's taken, and his ass is suspended immediately, effective immediately for 15 games.
And so you've done something that might not leave everyone happy, but it makes everyone feel like you've done something for them.
And I think that's the sign of a good negotiation, right?
No one leaves feeling like happy, all the way happy.
but everyone got a little something.
So this has been a critique of the warriors
from during this stretch, during their run.
Draymond has said this himself.
KD. said it.
And you're kind of seeing this bearing out
right now as they're doing this.
I would say the biggest thing that the warriors usually do
and during times like this
is sweep shit under the rug,
if that makes sense.
You know, where I think KD.
Jremond is a great parallel to this
because what happened when they got into it?
There was a one-game suspension for Jermon
after he got into KD.
And then the whole narrative after that was,
oh, we're good,
our culture will figure this out.
We're fine.
Everything's good.
We're good.
We're good.
We're good.
But what continued to happen as you say we're good is you don't necessarily address the problem.
And you don't just address how other people feel.
And you could kind of see that in this instance, too.
What happens?
The story leaks, right?
This leaks.
And then a video comes out.
And then we're like, oh, man.
And I think the best course.
of action is this happens.
It leaks.
Okay, you can't always control the leak.
Then I would just say,
yo, we're going to put out a statement saying he's suspended.
They Draymond is suspended.
Nip it in the bud.
He's not going to be out here for at least until November.
We get him out the paint.
And then you put out a statement as a team.
And then you go from there.
Even if a video comes out, you've taken steps.
You've taken steps.
You say, yo, we saw the video first off.
and this is what happened.
Now, we're in this weird gray area
where it's like,
okay, he's not suspended,
but he's taking time away,
which makes it seem like we're going to have him go work on himself.
When if you just put a line in the sand and say,
yo, you suspended, get up out of here.
We'll see you in November.
Figure that out.
I think there's a,
it's two different things can happen.
I think,
I think it's a better way when you just nip it in the butt initially.
instead of what we have right now, which is this gray area.
We don't know if Draymond's going to play opening night.
We don't know any of these things.
And I think the more time goes within this gray area, the worse it gets.
Yeah, I agree.
The reason you, I mean, it's really easy, right?
We give ourselves this gray area so that we're not, you know,
beholden to having said something.
And now you're holding us to this, right?
Like there's, we haven't said anything so we can do whatever we want.
It's flexibility, right?
So I leave you in this gray area.
And it's at my discretion.
and when we are ready or we feel like we need or whatever the circumstances are for us to reintegrate Dremont,
we just do that.
And no one's like, oh, well, you said, we don't have to deal with that.
But I do think for, first of all, Draymond is 32 years old.
He's a very unique player.
And while Dremon might think, like when he's at his most braggadocious that he could go anywhere,
and do what he does to the level he does it.
I think deep down,
Draymond knows that there ain't a ton of places where he could go
that his specific skill set is drop in,
play at the same level you're playing in Golden State.
So we've got leverage in that regard.
Like where you want to go, right?
And you know, and you know you messed up.
So then I pivot to Jordan Poole
and making sure how would I feel
if somebody just walked over and blasted on me the way that man did.
And the organization coach general manner didn't immediately say,
yo, you're suspended, bro, get out.
I would be looking at you guys side-eyed.
Like, what?
Bro, you ain't suspended this man yet?
Like, so, but then I got to turn and look at the rest of the locker room.
And I got to say, what kind of precedent am I setting?
if I don't nip this in the bud and come down with some some sort of team issued punishment
whatever that looks like to you because I can't have the Jordan pools of the world
and forgive me for saying it like this because I don't like I can't have the possible um
the the possible uh what's the word I'm looking for in a crime like the uh the the uh it's the
offenders like the, so the victim. I can't have the victim looking around like I would not support
them if something were to happen. Forgive me for my lack of vocabulary.
Yeah, that's a lot or a while in a while. But you're right. And I can't have the perpetrators or
potential perpetrators looking around like this is a free space to run around hitting people in
the face. That's a difference. That's a balance you have to you have to go through.
So yeah, so for all of those reasons, I think you come out and you say, boom. Hey man, maybe it's not the 15
games or 10 games, whatever it looks like to you, we are taking a step as an organization to
address this right now. This isn't going to be up to Draymond. And I know why they left it up to
Draymond. It was a better look. Like they probably say he's earned the right. It puts you again in
this gray area where you can pivot and maneuver around and you can bring him back when you want.
But I don't think that's the right. I honestly don't think that's the right move.
Yeah. I think it puts the warriors in a worse space than they think that they are.
You know, if you just put this gray area right there. There is something.
that we haven't talked about in this situation
that I really want to get into, and it does go
into trust. How does
this video leak, Raja?
How does this, I don't
have a good answer for you on that.
And how does it leak?
And
if you're another
player, you're just like, yo, this
supposed to be a safe space. And Draymond
said this, and he made a good point in his
press conference. He says,
none of our sets got leaked.
You know, none of our
none of our
our our our our our our our our our our scrimmages got leaked
none of these old
other any none of the other things that I've done in this
got leaked but a 13 second clip did
what does that do for the trust within the organization
when you're like yeah what the fuck like this is a safe space
you don't you don't you don't
leak a video at all
how do you go from there on that what do you do
are you looking around like
yeah you fire you fire someone immediately
the reason that got leaked is just someone got paid a lot of money
to leak it. That's right. I mean, what more, Dremont, what do you, what do you want? Someone,
someone was sitting around making, you know, whatever they make, and TMZ ran up on them and
offered them a bag. And that's what happens in today's culture. Like, someone, someone leaked that.
And in your organization, that is a terrible look. And it is, uh, uh, you know, a black eye in the
trust department. But I don't think that's like rampant in their video office. I believe it to be
An isolated incident.
I believe it to be one person that someone got to.
And they decided, I'd say short-sighted on your part.
Though a lot of times people coming up in those video rooms, man, make great careers in coaching and scouting.
And like, so, I mean, I don't know what you got for it.
But, you know, but that's what happened.
I'm going to say this, though, Ra, just to that point real quick, all money ain't good money, bro.
You know, especially if you're a video guy in the beginning of your, I don't know who it was.
I'm going to say this.
I don't know who it was.
But if you're somebody, like, just using your example,
if you're, say a video guy or someone very low on the totem pole
and you get however much bread you get,
that's a one-time payment and you fired or you're never coming back in the league.
Well, that's what I said.
I mean, that's not.
That's not good.
You shouldn't do that, though.
Your dream is over as soon as you press send on that for that video.
You played the now game.
Okay.
But again, while that is a terrible look for the organization,
I was also conflicted in how I felt about that
because I could tell you, yeah, duh, that's, you know,
that's messed up that it got out.
But, I mean, you know, it got out.
It was, it's just a mess, man.
It was just a mess.
And so, you know, Golden State, hopefully they figured out who the culprit was
and they extracted them from the equation.
and I love those words
that you're extracting them from the equation.
And then, you know, far be it for me to tell you how to run your organization, man.
But there's got, you know, you got to do something, man.
If you want Jordan Poole, the way you say you want Jordan Poole,
something's got to be done.
You know who you weren't punching in the face?
If you were a teammate and no matter who that teammate was,
you weren't punching Steve Nash or Kobe or Alan Iverson
and I'm not saying Jordan Pools any of those dudes
but let's just say you know I don't know
who you want to compare him to on one of those teams man like let's say
Aaron McKee
Aaron McKee.
They were going to let you like you had to
Aaron McKee was a really good player,
a really good part of that Sixers team like I don't believe
the Sixers would have allowed even Tyrone Hill
who was a big part of the squad to run over and punch him in a face
you know I'm going to make a comparison for it just really quick at this
I would say Jordan Poole right now is like that early Raptors Tracy McGrady.
We're like, you don't know what he is.
You don't know what he is at that point.
But he's showing really good strides, if that makes sense.
It does.
It's semi-fair.
I mean, Jordan Poole, the Raptors weren't playing for nothing.
Golden State has a more delicate balance.
I just meant more so as a guy that you think is going to be the next big thing.
Fair, fair, fair, fair.
But the delicate balance.
The reason I used Philly was because, like,
that year, there were real championship title hopes on the line. And so there's a delicate balance
and I used two players that both weren't necessarily Steph Curry, but we're both kind of-
- What would happen if somebody ran up on Aaron McKee or Alan Ironson? What would happen?
Just question. Like one of our teammates? Yeah, like in the same way to dream, I just ran up
on George Poole. Like, what would happen if somebody ran up on Aaron McKee? Well, that's an interesting
question, right? Because as I watched
the video, you know, I was looking
around to see, what did everyone else do?
Did anyone run over there and try to like... It wasn't
like no four or three speed people running
around to go save him. As a
matter of fact, the people closest to it didn't
even move. I seen Ron Adams
was like, oh, John Adams
was just in the fact that he did not move
at all. He was just like, oh, I guess this is happening.
Ron Adams has to be pushing 70-some.
So like, if you're not going to get in the middle of that.
I feel Ron on that one. I'm not... But there were
two players right underneath the back.
basket on either side of the stature.
I think, and it was...
No one moved.
No one.
It was the...
I think the person that got up on his high horse was Chris DeMarco, who was the coach assigned
to Jordan Poole, who was his man's, like the one that got Jordan Poole to this level.
That was the one that, like, ran into the scrump.
But other than that, it didn't seem like a big thing.
So, again, this is why it's so fascinated and interesting in all of those words, because
what you're describing Chris DeMarco,
He ran his ass over there.
Why?
That's his man's.
That's love, bro.
This is my guy.
What the hell are you doing, dog?
Like, get up off of him.
When you asked me what would have happened if a teammate has had stolen.
It's hard to use Alan Iverson because Alan, Alan is the face of the franchise like Steph.
I imagine, Draymond does that to Steph.
You have 10 people.
Well, you know, when I said the Jermont initiation, that does not apply to Steph.
That is not going to happen.
Right.
Right.
But it's interesting because.
You're probably left.
And what I took from that video was I didn't take it as a lack of love for Jordan Poole
as much as I took it from everyone just being absolutely stunned and floored that what they just saw
happened.
And it was so quick that you probably didn't see people probably after a second or two of
letting it register sprinted over, but you didn't get to see that.
But it just, I would imagine I would have been sitting there like,
oh shit he just did that and it would have taken me a second to react to that yeah it was it was it was
it was an interesting sequence of events especially just that was one of the things i looked at but
also was that one of the things that i looked at was just the shock value of it but i did expect more
players to like run and figure you know it's i thought that they were going to they were going to break
it up now no no can i can i say one thing sorry to interrupt that no go ahead in fairness to
to Draymont because I feel like this has been, and it is,
rightfully so, been heavily
Draymond at fault type of talk.
I don't know what led up to that.
No, we don't.
We don't know.
We don't know the, what was said, we don't know,
it was muted, we don't know anything.
It was an out of context, but it was said.
You, I mean, people would always say,
oh, Stixer's stones will break my bones,
but words in their birth.
Like, so if you don't, if you don't touch me,
you can't, you can't touch me,
fuck that.
There is definitely.
Also, also, words do hurt.
They do hurt.
Words have caused wars, sir.
Yeah, but you angle, you know, there's certain things that you know this, Logan.
If that shit comes out your mouth, I might dive on you.
You have to see me.
So I don't know what was said.
Like, in fairness to Draymond.
And I really don't know, like, what happened.
Like, they could have been out there playing, and there could have been some, some, some razor blade type of bows.
I don't know.
I'm not saying there were.
So just in fairness to Draymond, I don't really know what preceded all of that.
If you know Jordan Poole, you know he talks a lot of shit.
And he's done it for, he's done it ever since he touched a basketball.
You go, ask anybody in his childhood used to go on runs in the Milwaukee rec centers with the OGs.
And you know when you with the OGs, the young, he's from Milwaukee.
So when you go from, when you, when you play with the OGs in Milwaukee, you got shit that you need to talk.
No, he started at like, he started like 12.
playing against like 17, 18-year-olds, you know?
I've run across my fair share of Milwaukee Hoopers, man.
I mean, Nick the Quigman.
And they got that chip on their shoulder because they're not,
they're not from Chicago.
You know, they got that chip on their shoulder.
You know, it's different from Milwaukee cats.
My man, Silas Mills.
Like, I know, yes, they do, they do get a little chirpy.
And, you know, I just, I just don't know,
I don't know what was, I don't know what was said.
But, like, listen.
This is, hey, this is, tell a story.
You got the story.
You said you got to do it.
It's a good lesson, bro.
This was probably three months ago.
I took my Young Buck, Ty Bell, out to the courts, right?
My dog.
Shout out to Ty.
Ty had, Ty truck 20 the other day in a JV,
a little JV game in the seventh grade.
But, shout out, a little quick plug.
But so this is what happened.
We go out to the court.
And I usually just drop him off and let him hoop out there.
You know, he gets a game with the men.
They're probably like six or seven courts.
It's a big complex.
And so he gets in where he fits in,
and then I'll go back and pick him up.
But this particular day, I didn't have anything to do.
So I stayed out there.
And I watched like two games.
And it was horrible to watch.
So with no socks and like my my runners, I went out and I hooped with them, right?
And as I got out there.
No, but here's, I mean, just I couldn't help it.
And I don't know why.
But as I got out there, I realized Ty was running his mouth.
Like running his mouth, the grown men.
He didn't even know.
Didn't even know.
And so it was a moment, a teachable moment where I had to say to him, I said,
Ty, listen, man, you have me here today.
And so you have some backing.
But you have to understand who you are, man.
You are not big enough to defend yourself.
So do not be out here opening your mouth under any circumstance to any grown-ass man on one of these parks.
Because if he flips out and loses his shit and doesn't realize that you are,
12, 13 years old, you're going to the hospital, bro.
So, like, keep your mouth shut if you can't defend yourself.
Yeah, because this thing, if you got a mouth on you, you better learn, you better know how to
fight.
You better know how to fight if you got a mouth on you.
I think he could hold his own against a kid his age, but you're talking again, you got to
who you're talking to.
These aren't 13-year-olds we're playing.
These are 27-year-old, 30-year-old men.
And it's a catch-22, right?
because the thing is,
especially in Jordan's case,
when he was a kid,
because there was a time,
and you can go ahead and read
that story on the ringer.com.
There was one time
when he was about 15, 16 years old,
and he was running off at the mouth,
and one of the dudes was like,
I had enough of this shit,
ran up on JP.
And if his pops wasn't there,
his pops ran a gym back in Milwaukee.
If his pops wasn't there to like,
yo, chill out,
because he had, his pops had like real,
the real respected at gym, you know,
could have won another way, right?
So, JP has been here before
and he talks big mess and he backs it up on the floor,
you know, he's a really good basketball player.
In fact, in his last preseason game,
dropped 25 with all this stuff going on around,
really balled out, played his ass off.
But the other side of that is,
you got to be able to back it up, bro.
If you talk big mess, you got,
and you also got to,
prepare for people to come try to see you.
Yes.
So this is good, right?
Because we've gotten to a place where at least we've honored both sides of this
conversation because I've said this a bunch.
And I said it when the Kobe stuff happened.
Basketball players think that the person they are on the court and their skill level
translates to invincibility off the court.
No, it does not.
So, you know, that is kind of, I've been in that situation multiple times.
And the games you give you that euphoric state too.
The games give you that, yeah, like that makes you feel invincible.
There comes a point.
Everyone has a different point.
Some people are able to take a whole lot.
Some people are only able to take a little, you know, the shorter you refuse,
the more crazy you get labeled, right?
But the point is everybody's got a point where this shit ain't basketball to me anymore.
And now you've challenged my manhood and I've left the basketball court in my emotional state.
You're still there running your mouth. You think it's fun in games. But I'm not there no more.
Yeah. So, you know, again, I'm not speaking specifically for this situation. But what you're describing is something like that.
And I don't know for, I mean, I do know for a fact because clearly, Draymond was no longer on the basketball court.
So whatever had happened, whether it was right or wrong, I mean, it was wrong regardless. But the point was he had left.
the court. I just don't know what took him off the court. You know, and that's kind of where,
you know, I was that night and people asked me, I was like, I was, I wasn't playing basketball
no month. That was not basketball. Yeah. Yeah. I had my, I had it like, for whatever reason,
okay, like I was not on a basketball court anymore. And so that happens. Am I,
am I delusional to think that the Warriors could be okay out of this? Um, no, I think Steve Kerr is
the perfect type of coach to, to navigate this. I think, having some,
someone like Steph Curry and Clay Thompson, for that matter, the type of people that they are,
the type of culture that they have established there. I think those are all good signs and good
things to be able to withstand a situation like this. I think a lot of it lies heavily in the heart
of Jordan Poole and his ability to convince other people. Because I would be in that locker room
look into Jordan Poole as an indicator to when I should be okay with Dremont.
Do you know what I mean?
Like I would be,
I might be cool with Dremont before Jordan Poole,
but I wouldn't feel all the way comfortable until I could look over a pool and be like,
all right, man, he's cool.
So, no.
What a turn of events, right?
Like, JV., beginning of last year was the guy that was like,
yo, he has some G-Leaks stints.
Let's see what this guy has.
And now he's like, yo, now he's a shot caller.
Now he's like, yo, we're looking at, we're looking at,
to see how he feels about this.
But he's cold, though.
Like, I mean, that's, hey, when you got, when you got the, when you got the gift,
my man does some wild shit.
Did you see his move?
Did you see the move that he did the other night?
Did you see the move he did against the, where he did the behind the back in the lane
and did the floater?
Dude, KD's tweet, did you see KD's tweet about that?
What do he say?
KD said something to the effect of this isn't verbatim.
Like, who even thinks to do something like that?
It was, it, it, it captured my sentiment.
He did it in the midst of the, he did it.
The brain works like that.
Yeah.
The kid is cold.
The kid is cold.
Yeah.
I hope they figure it out, man.
I do because they're fun to watch.
I told you,
they're not a lot of teams that I would probably drag my family down the 45 minutes it takes to get there.
But they'd be one of them.
They're going to be in South Beach in next month.
You know who's here tomorrow?
Who's that?
The Pells.
Oh.
You talked to Griff lately?
I talked to
I talked to Griff
pretty
I've talked to
Griff
I talked to Griff
okay
yeah
they're here tomorrow
I saw him at Summer League
I saw him in summer league
I saw him in summer league
I'm my guy
shut out Griff
you go are you gonna
are you gonna go to the game
I may
we got a lot of football practice
but I may
I may
I don't know
okay
all right
I may
say that
I mean Zion's
my one of my sons
really like Zion
and
who did
Griff is my guy
I go just
favorite
favorite players
who are your kids
his favorite players right now.
Kyrie's still the one?
Yeah, no.
Yeah, Kyrie is Ty Bell's favorite guy, but they've got a lot of it.
I mean, LeBron is big.
Janis, my young son, Zen, Zianis and LeBron Freak and Zion.
Yeah, you know, John Morant's huge.
We got John Morant posters up and all of them, all of those dudes, man.
And it's pretty cool to watch them on their little, like, fandom path, kind of like I was.
My guy was MJ, so.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's what's up, man.
We'll see what happens with this saga.
I do think, I think if it was any other organization,
if it was anything, I think the Spurs would be able to navigate something like this.
The heat, the heat for sure.
But there's only like four or five organizations that can really weather the storm.
And I think the Warriors are one of them.
All right, man, let's get to a segment we'd like to call, a real one of the week.
I'm going to go first, Roger.
I'm going to go with Freddie Gibbs.
Freddie Gibbs has put out a record.
Triple S. Soul, sold separately.
Wasn't a huge Freddie Gibbs guy before Alfredo?
And then I just became like a Freddie Gibbs just phenomenal, phenomenal rapper.
And then I listened to the soul, soul separately and listen.
It's really good.
Roger, I know you are, you know, your cuff from neck, that onyx cloth, that night.
these backpack cloth.
I know that, I know you like that,
I know you like that Queens Bridge,
Nas, I know you like that Norrie.
I know, I know you,
I know you be with that Capone and Noriega
at all times.
All times.
I think you will like this,
Freddie Gibbs.
I don't like throwing you stuff,
but I think you would like this stuff.
He's talking that shit.
He's talking that shit on Soul,
sold separately.
That shit is bonkers.
It's really good.
I think you should go check that out.
It's really good.
Got some Rick Ross features.
Got some good stuff in there.
for you. It's really good. There's also
a DJ Paul feature up in there.
It's a vibe. It's a vibe.
Scarface got a feature as a bonus track.
Yeah, yeah, you got to lock in on that one. I think you're going to rock
with that. So Freddie gives my real one of the week, Roger.
Who you got? Who's your real one of the week?
I'm going to go over to the NFL
and my real one of the week is going to be the Philadelphia Eagles
and Jalen Hertz.
Oh, yes.
I mean, sitting at 5 and O, leading the NFC East, debate as to whether or not they're the best team in the NFL right now.
And this is all coming off of yet another offseason where people outside of the organization, because to the organization's credit, they had the man's back.
But outside of the organization, all the chatter I heard was how this young man couldn't throw the ball and he's inconsistent with this.
accuracy and we're not sure if he's the future. Damn the streets. The people, the so-called experts
were telling me this. That's what they were saying in the streets and the board room, man.
Word. And so all he's done is what he's done his whole career, which is win, right? Like,
which is win. And there may have been some validity to some of that, but that's what happens with
young players. Like Josh Allen was not very good his first year. Do you know what Josh Allen did?
he kept working on his game.
You know who else wasn't good?
Is his first rookie year?
A guy by the name of Peyton Manning.
He turned out all right.
Word.
Kept working on his game.
Kept growing.
Go back to the drawing board.
See your deficiencies.
Learn from them.
Get better at them.
The Eagles went out and spent the bread.
They made some trades.
You know, fortified that O line.
Got some weapons.
And here we are.
Hey, man.
Beards are glistening right now in Philly right now.
Just at the thought of the Eagles.
being good.
This is the,
what is it like
when the Eagles
are good in Philly,
bro?
What's,
what's that town like?
What's it like,
bro?
That, hey,
nuts.
When the Sixers,
when the Sixers are good,
it is,
it's bananas.
When the,
when the Eagles are good,
it's,
it's bonkers,
bro.
It is nuts out there
when the Eagles are good.
It's the NFL.
I mean,
we can say what we want.
I love the NBA.
But NFL is king,
right?
Like,
and so,
it's different.
It's different,
man.
And my mom
and,
and,
Her whole family is from that Philly area just outside.
And so I grew up.
Like, my dad was in Chicago, so I watched the Bears a bit.
But, man, Randall Cunningham and the Eagles and, you know,
I go to a couple training camps down at Westchester University.
Like I, so, you know, I mess with the Eagles, bro.
Donovan McNabb is my dude.
When I was a kid, like my mom, she was born in Ardmore.
Yeah.
At a Lower Marion area.
And just always had love for the Eagles when I was growing up, bro.
Like, I had all the, I'm a writers fan.
That's my number one team.
But I knew all the Eagles propaganda.
Fly Eagles fly all the roads.
You know, E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles.
Like I was outside, right?
Like, I do.
I remember that.
It's, it's, it's, it's, I'm happy for the Eagles, man.
I'm happy for the Eagles.
You know who I'm, who is not ruined over the week?
Don't do it.
Don't do it.
No, I'm not fucking tired.
No, no, no, no.
Fuck that.
that.
The Raiders are not the real of the week at all.
The Raiders played like,
did you watch the game last night?
Did you stay up?
Did you stay up?
He's pay-per-view for me.
Pat Mahal's pay-per-view.
So I'll watch whatever.
Paper view.
A hundredth, wow.
But that was a Raiders win, dog.
Like, I don't know how else you got it.
You could say it up 17.
Nothing.
You guys snatched an L from the jaws of W.
It's like the third time this has happened to season, dog.
You know?
Bro, Derek Carr, sorry, I got to get in my bag right now, dude.
There was a drive where we got a touchdown only because he under threw Adams twice.
And there were passing appearance calls, right?
I'm so tired of watching this team.
And I'm going to keep watching.
That was a hard loss.
That was a tough one, man.
That was tough.
That was tough, bro.
Because we're going into the bye week.
We could have win at the buy week.
And you're going to be with the,
Devante Adams probably for a game.
We got to suspend him, bro.
You didn't see him shove the reporter?
You didn't see him shove the cameraman?
No, I turned it off.
I turned it off.
Running out of the tunnel.
Running out of the tunnel.
It's pure frustration because him and the young and from Clemson ran into each other
on those last, you know, that last like fourth and one or whatever it was.
And then I'm sure it was other stuff that was mounting.
But as he was exiting and he went to go through the tunnel, there was a dude what
it looked like a still camera standing there.
And he kind of got in his way.
and my man two hands shoved them to the ground.
Damn, so we might have Devante Adams.
You're not going to have that.
Waller, Waller, Waller just pulled his amstring.
So we'll see how that works out.
It's just, you know, just a normal,
normal season with the silver and black.
If you were outside for Andrew Walter,
for for Jamarcus Russell, for Aaron Brooks,
Raider Nation, you know what it is.
We've been through it.
Ain't that change with the address.
Man, we worried about getting our funny up.
We got to get our buddy up, as Jovey would say, dog.
It's not good.
Anyways, it was another edition of Real Ones.
We will see you guys.
I think we're going twice a week starting next week when the NBA season is upon us.
We'll see you guys then.
I'm out because I'm just sad.
I'm sad.
Real ones.
Well, all of peace.
