This is 5-Minute Friday, episode number 177, and it's time to write a new story.
It looks like the world is finally waking up.
An old story is being retired line by line.
In the old story, the people compete to win at any cost.
In the new story, we can all win.
In the old story, we can all win.
In the old story, the earth and all her riches are exploited.
In the new story, we respect our home and we preserve its beauty.
In the old story, treaties and promises are broken.
In the new one, we are trustworthy and trusting.
In the old story, fear is the loudest voice at the table. In the new story, it is love
whose soft voice is heated. In the old story, we are separated. In the new story, we are one.
The outer world is a reflection of our inner worlds. What we think and feel shows up in the mirror on the street corner
and on the other side of the world. A well-known legend tells the story of an anthropologist who
was studying the ways of an African tribe. He placed a basket of fruit by a tree, then challenged
a group of children to race to the tree, and the fastest one there would win the basket of
fruit. The children grabbed each other's hands and then ran to the tree together where they sat down
and shared the fruit. The researcher was amazed and asked the children why they had done this
as the winner could have taken all the fruit for themselves. The children responded, Ubuntu.
How can one of us be happy if the others are sad?
Ubuntu means in the Hosha tribal culture,
I am because we are.
Ubuntu places others above the individual,
stating I am happy because you are happy.
In this new story we are creating, I am happy because you are happy we are connected
and interwoven i lift you up and i'm then uplifted i believe in the win-win respect love and integrity
outshine the greed and selfishness of previous chapters nelson mand said, for to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live
in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others. Join me in writing this new story,
the one in which we are all kind to each other. There is a chapter titled Respect for All Living
Things. You are the hero of this story.
And another chapter titled,
No One Left Behind.
And another,
We Are The Ones We Have Been Waiting For.
Another chapter,
Everyone Has What They Need.
And another,
Each Person Has A Gift.
And the final chapter,
Love Wins.
Because when love wins, we all win. So let's write a new story together. Thank you guys all so much for listening to this five minute Friday. And I
