Starting point is 00:00:00 This is 5-Minute Friday, episode number 206. You've got to find your strength. Success is achieved by developing our strengths, not by eliminating our weaknesses. That's by Marilyn Vos Savant. What do you do better than anyone else on earth? Do you know what lights you up and makes time disappear? Is it gardening, building a business, playing sports, caring for children, giving back, doing yoga, or leading a group of people to a common goal? Martin Seligman says that for a person to be truly happy and live a meaningful life, that person must recognize their personal strengths and use these strengths for the
Starting point is 00:00:53 greater good. One of the most important things you can discover is the inherent strength that gives you energy when you utilize it. Strengths are a force multiplier. They are your springboard to success. These involve the activities that can induce a flow state for you. Are you designing your life around your strengths rather than being tossed back and forth in the endless search for purpose?
Starting point is 00:01:20 Marcus Buckingham put it this way, A strength is an activity that makes you feel strong it is an activity where the doing of it invigorates you before you do it you find yourself instinctively looking forward to it while you're doing it you don't struggle to concentrate but instead you
Starting point is 00:01:38 become so immersed that time speeds up and you lose yourself in the present moment and after you are finished doing it, you feel authentic, connected to the best parts of who you really are. Maybe you feel you weren't encouraged to identify and develop your strengths as a child or student. Now is that time for self-discovery. No matter what your age, you can still find a hidden talent that with dedication can be honed into skill and you will love doing it. It will feed your soul.
Starting point is 00:02:09 Being in a state of flow or extreme creativity will multiply the impact of everything else you do. Do what makes you happy and you will create a state of flow that is your best key to success. When you focus on your strengths, your work gives you energy. You are driven. It brings you joy and you even stay up late because you're having so much fun. You don't want to stop. If you don't know what that may be, pay attention to what drains you and what fills you up. Find people who are energized by the tasks that exhaust and deplete you. If you can't find the right partners, outsource the aspects of your business that make you want to crawl back into bed.
Starting point is 00:02:50 Joyce Meyer said, over the years, I've learned that a confident person doesn't concentrate or focus on their weaknesses. They maximize their strengths. Stop trying to be everything to everyone and stop trying to fixate on your weaknesses. Let go of perfectionism. Be excellent in what you love. Double down on your strengths and unleash your inner greatness. This is 5-Minute Friday, episode number 206. Thank you all so much for being here today.
