Starting point is 00:00:00 This is 5-Minute Friday, episode number 295. This is all about how to overcome information overwhelm. Now we live in an incredible time in this world where there's information at our fingertips. We can ask any question and get the answer to anything in the world, essentially. But the challenge is there's so much consumption happening right now. There's so many talking heads spewing out information there's so many videos podcasts training programs things to do tv shows movies there's all sorts of consumption happening that we get overwhelmed on trying to
Starting point is 00:00:40 figure out what should we be doing on a day-to-day basis to create the maximum amount of impact and follow our purpose. What is our purpose and what should we be doing? It's hard to figure this out when there's so much coming at our way, so much noise, so much information. So how do we decide how to overcome this information overwhelm? That's what we're talking about today. And a good friend of mine named Chris Hawker gave me a system about 10 years ago to help with this and making a decision whether this is helping me move forward or it's just a distraction. So is something a distraction and is it overwhelming? You're going to ask yourself one of three questions and it's in a system called FIP. That's F-I-P. Fun, Impact, and Profit. So you're going to ask yourself, when you're doing
Starting point is 00:01:28 an act and you're doing any action, you're going to ask yourself, is this fun? It's got to be fun. Is this impactful? Is this leaving an impact on people around me when I take action on this? And is it profitable? Now, if it's just fun, yeah, being on social media is a lot of fun. I like going on Instagram and Snapchat and just playing around, but if it's just fun and it's not impactful or profitable, then it's information overwhelm and it's a distraction. If it's just impactful, but it's not fun for you
Starting point is 00:02:02 and it's not making you an income, then it's probably not what you should be focusing on either. And if it's just profitable, but it's not leaving an impact in the world or on anyone, and it's not really that fun, it's just for making money, then that's not really going to be the thing you want to do either. So in every action you take and everything you consume, you want to say, is this fun?
Starting point is 00:02:24 Is this impactful? Or is this going to do either. So in every action you take and everything you consume, you want to say, is this fun? Is this impactful? Or is this going to be impactful? And is this going to be profitable by me consuming this information or taking on this action? You know, a lot of people, we chase the shiny balls. We're constantly trying this new thing. And then I'm going to try this thing in my business. And I'm going to do this thing in my life. I'm going to try this diet and then this thing. But most people never just stick to one thing and take action over and over consistently to build that momentum you need to generate maximum results. So ask yourself this question right now. Is what I'm doing right now in my life, is it fun? Is it impactful? And is it profitable? my life. Is it fun? Is it impactful? And is it profitable? If it is, repeat that over and over and over again to build something meaningful that's going to leave a lasting impression
