This is 5-Minute Friday, episode number 343, and creators create.
Liz Gilbert said that the universe buries strange jewels deep within all of us, and
then stands back to see if we can find them.
Have you ever noticed how people following their passion
are just extremely contagious and it's so contagious to be around them? Their energy,
their vision, their happiness, their joy. It's that situation where people around them think,
man, let me get a little bit of what that woman is on. She's got something special. I want to have
that. You want to be around them hoping someone that rubs off on you. But the truth is that we all
have that buried deep down inside of us. What is fun about life is that we get to enjoy peeling
back the layers to discover what those gifts really are. Because when you find your gifts
and you are doing the work you were put on this earth to do,
you too will have that special juice, that special passion that everyone else wants to have.
Yeah, it can be tough and extremely frustrating even to try to figure out what that is
and how to find your passion.
And just when you think you have a grasp on it,
it might slip through your hands and evolve into something else.
What remains true is that we are all artists.
We are all creators.
Our art and creativity takes shape in many forms.
This business of mine, this podcast that I have, the events that I run, my books, all
the different things I put out there, my courses.
Yes, I get to make money from all of these things, but it's also my art and I employ other artists who get to contribute their art
to make it an even bigger masterpiece. And let me remind you, this is the most amazing time to be
alive where you can freely pursue whatever your heart desires, where your options are not limited
to what you can do or who you can choose to be.
But I quite often notice people lose sight of themselves in business and when they're chasing
a business they want to build, where they deviate from their creativity and pursue the wrong things.
All their energy goes into just making money or becoming rich. Now, I understand if you have to
pay the bills and do some things you don't like to do from time to time. Believe me, I've been struggling to pay off my student loans and credit card debt for many years before, and it wasn't fun. But I believe to truly shift to a life of meaning, you must shift to a life of creating with an almost childlike curiosity, as Liz Gilbert says.
It's an almost childlike curiosity, as Liz Gilbert says.
Even if that means waking up at 3 a.m. after working a full shift because you are so inspired that you just must get up and create your ideas.
Now, creativity doesn't have a curfew.
There is no start and there is no end.
And everyone has a different journey to arrive here.
And it is here that you're in the right place to attract success and the life you've always dreamed of. Now, I don't feel success is some big code you have to figure out because when you love your craft, you're in it for the long haul. You're in the
game and you will keep moving forward. You keep defining and redefining yourself and make progress
and you may never find your calling and that's okay. It's the pursuit.
It's the journey.
It's falling in love with the process.
The falling and getting back up.
That's what this is all about.
Whatever you do, just keep digging
and never stop the discovery.
Never stop peeling back the layers.
Never stop creating.
If you're feeling called to take up gardening, then don't ask why,
just do it. And one thing may lead to another more inspiring thing. And you may feel you're
absolutely horrible at drawing, but you always had a curiosity to try. Don't let the fear or
embarrassment stop you. Pick up a pencil and try it. You were put on this earth to create.
pencil and try it. You were put on this earth to create. Writers write, dancers dance, painters paint, and creators create. You just have to do the work and through the work is where you will find
yourself. Now this is a process I know all too well about and for the past six months I've been
working on my biggest project to date.
It's my next masterpiece.
Now, something that is a collection of my entire journey over the past several years and how I arrived here.
I stayed curious.
I kept creating.
And it's something I'm incredibly proud of.
And it's my hope that will transform many lives all around the world.
