Starting point is 00:00:00 5-Minute Friday, episode number 384, Go Farther Together. Helen Keller once said, alone we can do so little, together we can do so much. Now I'm not sure if you watch the World Series of Triathlon much. I don't, but there was an incredible video online this week of the World Series, and it blew me away that I had to share it everywhere. The gold and silver medal champions from the 2016 Olympics, the Brownlee brothers, were coming down the final one kilometer stretch of the finish line when Jonathan Brownlee started to collapse from heat exhaustion. Jonathan Brownlee started to collapse from heat exhaustion. His brother Alistair came up behind him and threw his arm around him to help him keep going. As another competitor, Henry Schumann, passed them both to go for the first place.
Starting point is 00:01:00 As the other racers rounded the final bend of the race and came up behind the brothers who were running stride by stride together to get to the finish line, Alistair literally pushed his brother get to the finish line, Alistair literally pushed his brother Jonathan across the finish line before him, taking third place so his brother, who was having heat exhaustion and was about to collapse, could win the second place prize. If you haven't seen this video of the amazing finish, I've linked it up in the show notes of this episode. of the amazing finish.
Starting point is 00:01:24 I've linked it up in the show notes of this episode. Now, triathlon isn't even a team sport, okay? But that didn't stop Alistair from helping a fellow athlete finish the race when he was struggling and in need. And afterwards, he said this, obviously the World Series is a big race, but I just had to do what was right in that situation. Now, he admitted that he would have done the same for any athlete in that situation, not
Starting point is 00:01:48 just his brother. That is what true sportsmanship is all about. And that, my friends, is what life is all about. What would the world look like if everyone played like a team? What could we achieve as a society, as a human race, if we gave our best effort to support each other in achieving our dreams? As Napoleon Hill said, it is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed. I love this principle of Napoleon Hill about building communities and masterminds,
Starting point is 00:02:30 having people lift you up, inspire you, keep you accountable on your dreams. It's hard to achieve your dreams alone, but together you can do so much. No matter what your competition is doing, always remember the biggest achievements in life come from working together, not alone. And there's a great Tibetan proverb that said, when he took time to help the man up the mountain low, he scaled it himself.
