Starting point is 00:00:00 five minute friday episode number four eight nine try me instead of saying why me all the time start saying try me and see your life unfold in a beautiful way now everything we experience in life goes through our own interpretation of what we're actually experiencing in that moment. And we can either choose to play victim and be at the mercy of what happens to us, or we can step up, take responsibility, and prove to ourselves what we are truly, truly capable of. What do you want to choose? Do you see what's possible when you respond to life with try me? Now, I've faced this choice countless times in my life so far. When I was a kid, I struggled so much in school.
Starting point is 00:00:48 I was dyslexic, so reading was a huge challenge for me. And I felt so insecure. I felt so dumb, felt so stupid, like it was pointless to try to read because it was just a grudge. It was a challenge every time I opened a book. So there's no way I would have thought I could have written
Starting point is 00:01:05 a New York Times bestselling book one day, unless I chose to lean into my struggle and use it to become strong where I was once weak. Even still, writing my book took years. It went through a four-year process with two completely different versions. I had tons of support with other writers, editors, proofreaders, publishers, agents. I went through draft after draft. But I knew I could make a big impact by sharing the lessons from this podcast in a book, especially if I made it good enough and where it could hit the New York Times bestseller list. And it did do all those things. And now I'm finishing my second book and it's the same process all over again.
Starting point is 00:01:51 But now I know what's possible. Now I know that I don't have to allow my struggles to hold me back where I'm saying, why me? Why am I so dumb? Why am I not able to write? Why am I dyslexic? Why, why, why, why, why? Instead of saying, why me? Now I say, try me. Okay, here's a new challenge here's a new book here's a new struggle what am i going to do to
Starting point is 00:02:12 overcome it what am i going to do to step into something that is powerful and break through the things that hold me back and the swiss philosopher henry frederic am said, Work while you have the light. You are responsible for the talent that has been entrusted to you. And we each have unique gifts and challenges that are built into us. But it's our responsibility to lean into those struggles and say, Try me. That's the only way we'll ever know what we're really capable of. Try me instead of why me.
Starting point is 00:02:51 This is 5-Minute Friday, episode 489. Take on this new approach in life. Take on this approach of a sentence saying, oh, why me again? Why is this happening to me again? Why do I have to go through this struggle? Start leaning and looking at it in a different way and say, try me. I'm going to figure this out.
Starting point is 00:03:06 I'm going to grow. I'm going to learn. I'm going to build the things I need to build so I can get better so that this doesn't own me, but I own this situation. If you enjoyed this, share it with your friends, lewishouse.com slash 489. I love you very much and you know what time it is. It's time to go out there and do something great Outro Music
