Starting point is 00:00:27 That's BetterHelp.com. At Air Miles, we help you collect more moments. So instead of scrolling through photos of friends on social media, you can spend more time dinnering with them. How's that spicy enchilada? Very flavorful. Yodeling with them. Ew. Ooh, very flavorful. Yodeling with them. Ooh,
Starting point is 00:00:51 must be mating season and hiking with them. Is that a squirrel? Collect more moments with more ways to earn air miles. Watching them deadlift on five pound increments. Bam. We're live. Uh live Chandler's gonna need some CA peptides for that back Yeah he is No he's not
Starting point is 00:01:12 Did you say he has a broken back Or he had a broken back It sounded like you said he Had a broken back and he turned 30 I don't know I'm sorry you don't pull that with a broken back and he turned 30. I don't know. I'm sorry. You don't pull that with a broken back. I think it was more like his back is blown out maybe from the competition.
Starting point is 00:01:32 Yeah. All the snatches, all of that kind of stuff. Not like he is currently competing with a broken back. Final. I bet his shit's so fucked up from the Army. Saturday. We'll get back to that in one second. Saturday, final
Starting point is 00:01:47 event just occurred. Event number six, the Max Deadlift at the Rogue Invitational 2023 CrossFit Rogue Invitational. I don't even know if they call it that. Do they call it that, CrossFit? No. Just the Rogue Invitational. Above and beyond, dude.
Starting point is 00:02:02 Maybe they don't even want to call it that. Crazy, we just saw the Deadlift event uh what we were referencing is uh chandler smith won the event with a 605 pound lift 10 610 but then oh i see what you're saying asked hey can i do five more pounds i'm sitting here like what the fuck why would anyone do that i'm glad kiki asked that question uh after because he won at 605. He beat Vellner and then Kiki asked, hey, why did you do that? And that's what we were discussing. He said, well, I wanted to use the crowd, the adrenaline rush. I'm 30 years old. I've got a broken back and this will be the last time I do that, I think. And so Bill and I are trying to wonder, like, is it really broken or is it just an old guy broken or was he referencing an old injury?
Starting point is 00:02:44 But either way, he doesn't think he thinks those days are behind him for some reason right uh that's bullshit i think okay everyone everyone that's out there feels 30 when they hit 30 like i get that whole thing i understand as an old guy myself like i get that i think honestly it's like he isn't where he wants to be as far as like placing wise and if you have a shot to gain momentum not just win but like where you have the crowd is all on you and he i think he's one of those guys that needs that because he doesn't always get that you know what i mean yeah yeah yeah yeah um he's He's never made it to the top tier, is what you're saying. And so when he can't...
Starting point is 00:03:27 He's expected to be there a lot of times, and he always seems to fumble the ball. So this is his event. Like he does this. Right, right. Chandler time. Like he said at the end, that's his party trick. 100%.
Starting point is 00:03:41 Yeah. And I don't think the back... I think the back thing was totally just uh tongue-in-cheek like i don't think he was referencing anything like serious i think he was like and i just blew my back out so there you go and do you think that's too harsh to say he's not he hasn't been to the top tier is there a level above no okay i don't think it is okay you don't want to know what's crazy about him is here's a guy who is, I mean, literally he's a warrior. Like he's, I mean, he was one of our soldiers and he, he's a God dang action hero. You look at him and he's like, I remember having balls that look almost as big as him.
Starting point is 00:04:15 Like the He-Man guy was almost the same size as him, but for he, he always had, I mean, he was a wrestler. He, he always had this element of I think giving too much respect for the people that he had to go up against right and it's like he never when he thought he should have been in the mix he wasn't there and so now he's finally getting
Starting point is 00:04:36 that idea and coming in which is great I mean like he went big and I mean that was huge god dang 6'10 come on speaking of respect Katie Henninger. Hey, nobody trusts someone that wears sunglasses at night. I understand. You're not supposed to trust me.
Starting point is 00:04:54 You know, there was a fake Katie Henninger in the chat today, like someone who had a play on your name, like changed a couple of letters. I can't remember, but I thought it was fun. I thought it was awesome. I thought it was awesome. I liked being the imposter. It was an imposter for sure. They were chill, but they were an imposter. They rearranged some letters.
Starting point is 00:05:13 In the chat, there's often a cave dastro. I think they switched your names around, like you were Haiti Kenninger or something. He's probably giving you more hate. Giving you more hate. How cool was that that fucking i'm sorry that freaking deadlift event yeah don't cuss on this channel okay it's illegal to cuss on this channel hey oh we were just amazing why did chandler do did you hear chandler's reason for
Starting point is 00:05:38 why he went 610 he did the extra lift because he wanted it he wanted to do it the same thing he did with the log last year he didn't have to do it you know and it's one of those things you know look at the crowd like you're up there in front of them it's kind of like you want to go for it and and he's always been like that and and i really appreciate that and i really respect that as well because it lends to the event yeah absolutely okay a lot of uh uncomfortable questions today let's start with the most uncomfortable and we'll get easier has Has Dave's olive oil sold out? I actually don't know. I've been really busy.
Starting point is 00:06:09 I know that it was selling well. I can say that. I bought two of them, so at least he's sold two. Wow. One for dad and one for me. I saw that some guy named Mitchell Hooper won the strongman competition. Is their shit as out of whack as ours is with Tia? Is that guy that good?
Starting point is 00:06:29 Like when he came in, did everyone know he was going to win? You know, he's really good. And he hasn't been in the sport that long, but he's so athletic. And I think that he's got a long career ahead of him. But, yeah, he's heads above everybody right now. Yeah, crazy. He almost doesn't look like a strong man. He was running marathons like five years ago or something like that.
Starting point is 00:06:49 Wow. And he was a bodybuilder after that. Oh, I got to dig out some of those pictures. Okay. Duel 3. Yes. How was that changed and when did the changes occur? We changed it last night for the brief.
Starting point is 00:07:06 We made the call just because of weather, potential weather, and didn't want the ropes in there for that. Obviously, it changed the workout. We had the cap at like 90 seconds with the rope in there. Took it down to 1.15. Obviously, they were under 30 seconds. Made for a hell of a race though. Did you think about replacing the rope with something in, in the, or was it that not even realistic? Cause you're, you stuck in that six by six foot area. Well, just, just with what we were dealing with, with the weather, and then having wanting to keep it under a 90 second cap, just to keep,
Starting point is 00:07:38 keep with what we wanted. Um, this, this was the best solution. Obviously everything we've dealt with all week has been with what we're dealing with which is potential weather and keeping it safe for everybody and and making sure that the competition stays intact and is it this dumb question but fair question uh why who gives a fuck if the ropes wet is it tears their hands or they slip they care and we care too right like if they slip off obviously there's a big crash pad, but like they definitely care. The athletes care. So it's slipping. We care. It's not tearing.
Starting point is 00:08:07 It's slipping. The rope slips. It's slipping. It's harder to hold. It gets really slippery. All right. And I wonder, you know, the question is maybe Bill or Sousa or Caleb can remind me, but there was an event, I think it was Alpaca at the CrossFit Games.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Yeah. And I think Danny was in that event also and they took the rope out because of weather. Is that correct? Yeah, and that's helped Danny out twice. I mean think about that. The gods are on her side, right? It's not, oh yeah, you're pointing out one athlete, but it's about the whole the whole crew. It's not about one. We're not pulling it because of an athlete. We're pulling it because of the weather. Of course, no no no. I wasn't suggesting she uh- Just making sure one we're not pulling it because of an athlete we're pulling of course no no no i wasn't i wasn't i wasn't suggesting she just making sure that we're all clear oh yeah i don't think i'm just saying it was uh it's good with the uh with the rope that you had in there originally was that meant to be more of a uh an execution piece uh like a
Starting point is 00:08:59 gymnastic execution piece or is it about like let's just see like where like where do you see think the mess up would be if you had that rope in there what was that point of that rope it was it was an execution piece right and look we we learned last year obviously we had those overhead squats in there they were fast we knew they were fast we had some you know judging issues that i know you guys talked about last year and we listen we listen to the athletes. Where is she? Is she there? Is Lane five there? If you look at it, we went through this duel knowing that it's a bracket style. We want to get it right. We obviously want to make sure the times are right. Limited judges on the field.
Starting point is 00:09:35 They had to run up and over. And if they did the rope, it was going to be a controlled descent. But get off the rope and get to the sandbags. So it's really about the up and overs and the sandbags. I mean, it definitely took the issue of having to judge anything out with taking the rope and get to the sandbags. So it's really about the up and overs and the sandbags. I mean, definitely took the issue of having to judge anything out with, with, with taking the rope out of there for sure. I figured you guys would like that.
Starting point is 00:09:53 Hey, would you, would that be something to think about? Like, would you ever, have you guys ever created something like that? Okay. Hey,
Starting point is 00:09:59 there's this event. We keep seeing it over and over. It's a rope and it keeps getting pulled out of events because it's wet. What can we do to substitute it in that event that you would still go up or still give you the same stimulus do you guys ever like is there yeah like we definitely looked at we definitely looked at rope so if you look at the roger coaster for the strongman last year it was just a straight manila rope and it had a lot of give to it when they would pull it so there was a little bit of slack not a little bit it was a lot of slack when they pulled it this year we had a rope that had a
Starting point is 00:10:24 core in it um that had a better feel you know with vanilla you can kind of see it shed this didn't shed at all um you use more and uh you know kind of with boats and marine but uh definitely held up well it it's sprinkled here this morning for them um but the grip and less slack so yeah we definitely look at all of those things i'm sorry it's gonna get loud the guys are working over here that's okay we. We're almost done. You're the best. What time have you been going to bed and what time have you been waking up? Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:10:52 I don't know. Late and early. Are you there at the venue past midnight? Yeah, I don't leave until our guys leave. Even if we're done with our day, I won't leave until the crew leaves. Are you staying at a hotel? Yeah, there's a three-minute walk. And do you open your laptop when you get home?
Starting point is 00:11:09 When you get to the hotel? No. Oh, good. I try to have it done before I leave. I try to have it done before I leave here. Yeah, smart. I want to congratulate you on the scoreboard. It is clean, easy to use, and fast.
Starting point is 00:11:22 You guys are updating fast, and makes um our job uh crazy easy final question we had you know we had some we've had some technical difficulties we lost wi-fi literally 20 seconds before the duel started so if anybody's wondering why we had the delay uh wi-fi on campus went down uh it turns out if you don't have wi-fi you can't have the scoring system and we obviously wanted to make sure we had those chip timers. So we got that back up and running. So that was a glitch. But after that, it seemed to go smoother this year than last for sure.
Starting point is 00:11:54 We obviously noticed the delay. It was a big delay. What happens then? What happens like all of a sudden someone's like the Wi-Fi doesn't work? And what do you call like the manager of the venue? You're like, hey, the internet's not working. No, we have a whole network staff and they were working their butts off and that's obviously you want the experts to be doing the work so you step away and let them do their job obviously it doesn't feel great um yeah people
Starting point is 00:12:14 start to lose their patience but at the end of the day you know you have you have to let them do their job and find the problem and it doesn't help to sit behind their behind them and just breathe down their neck so we try to let them do their job today dude what happened is it literally like you just go over and you go to find the main router in the building unplug it and plug it back in or like you got to call i have no idea i mean i i i i definitely asked the question like did someone unplug something i mean i feel like anytime i have issues i just try unplugging a bunch of stuff katie a huge prize purse how do you guys decide on the prize purse uh why it's it's so massive first place is 279 548 you pay all the way down to every single athlete although i heard yannikovsky you guys pulled his money because he's a pussy um he did not pull his money for
Starting point is 00:12:58 everyone to hear he still gets his payment all All right. Misinformation. Yeah, misinformation. Fake news. Fake news. Two questions. How do you choose the total prize purse, this $1.6 million for the event? And then the second question is, how do you spread it up? It's so weird. It's like 17.2, then 6, then 3.2. Well, we definitely wanted – so we start out with a base,
Starting point is 00:13:21 and then from that base, so there's a base of cash, base of Bitcoin. And then depending on how Bitcoin's doing, that raises the purse or brings it back down. But we never let it go below what we put in. And then we also put a portion of the ticket sales in there to drive that. Go-rock shoes. We have a hat and shirt and things like that that add to the prize purse. So if people purchase that, then we're giving that. But it was really important to us when we started this that all 20 athletes were gonna get paid So Bitcoin shits the bed you have a bottom where you actually start taking the hit
Starting point is 00:13:57 Yeah, you get wow. That's nice you I think we were pretty close to taking that hit last year It actually it's helping the athletes right now considerably. I think it's up pretty significant the last two weeks. Be honest about this. Please be honest. When either you or Bill came up with the Bitcoin idea, did Bill come up with it? Bill came up with it. Yeah, and were you like, you're fucking out of your mind?
Starting point is 00:14:22 No, I thought it was interesting. I was actually really interested to see how many athletes would take it because they can take a portion of their purse and bitcoin if they want to oh they get a choice it's like the the sweepstakes oh you should pay it out over 20 years to see how many there's a there's a there's definitely a definitely a cash portion but they can choose a portion of it to be in bitcoin and and we've had a handful each year choose it which you know uh i thought it was handful each year choose it, which I thought it was... The first year was definitely more than I thought it would, but it stayed about the same each year. Yeah. If they take Bitcoin, they're probably also
Starting point is 00:14:51 preppers. They got rice and dryers and shit like that. Alright. Hey, thanks again for coming on. It's wonderful to see you. You're welcome. See you guys tomorrow. Alright. Katie Henninger, the director, the boss lady, the co-owner of Rogue. Thank you, Bill, for asking some smart questions.
Starting point is 00:15:12 It doesn't seem like she comes on and does the Pee Wee Herman show. My goodness. You were rolling, man. I had to try to get something in there, but you had your list. I was like, I'll just stand back. Call her hi. Call her. you had your list so i was like i'll just stand back that was good uh caller hi oh caller yeah it's so weird is that a fake caller i don't know let me see uh road cast it let us just do our unplug and replug yeah i gotta yeah always well i just need to talk to this person because um uh they tried to call while katie was on it's like are you out of your fucking mind
Starting point is 00:15:43 am i fucking frozen again yeah yeah yeah you may be we don't even tell you i'm hopping out i'm hopping tell me i'll hop out i'm gonna hop back in your voice is great i'm coming caller hi it's always a good shot of them just a screenshot all right uh seven sun is frozen oh that sucks that's not cool that's not cool dickhead uh okay where are we okay so uh katie henninger came on uh we we treated her uh with uh kid gloves tomorrow we just we we pull the stops like are you out of your mind Making those girls lift 18 bars Bill 18 lifts Starting at 135 what did they start at Way too light
Starting point is 00:16:32 305 What the fuck is going on Dude Like I'm You would have to be the one that asked Katie That question Hell no I want to get another 10 years out of this relationship You would have to be the one that asked Katie that question. Hell no.
Starting point is 00:16:45 I got to work with, I want to get another 10 years out of this relationship. It's interesting. And this is, I mean, this is not a shot. This is just a very odd. This is an observation. You take the rope out because you are trying to be aware of the
Starting point is 00:17:03 athlete's hands, but you, you had to do 120 barbell cycling snatches you had to pick up those sandbags at full speed and the faster you were the more of those you had to do and then you had to do one rep maxes for like an hour and a half and that i just dude that you think that was I just do that. Do you think that she wishes? That was a lot. Do you think she saw that and she wishes that they would have done it differently? Do you think that she's like, do you think she's like talking to?
Starting point is 00:17:31 Yeah. Well, I hope so. I hope so. I mean, dude, that should have been, that should have been cut down in half, man. Hi, babe. I'm on the show. Oh, okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:17:42 We're on a right now. Okay. I love you. Okay. Love you. Bye. Bye.'m sorry that's okay domestic shit okay go on ali g even ali g's got a even ali g's got a wife and kids i i don't um i don't know how they came up with that number i mean they know they know where they know where like danny's going to be pulling they you know they know where where tia's going to be about they know where Danny's going to be pulling. They know where Tia's going to be about. They know where those numbers are going to be.
Starting point is 00:18:07 So it would seem to me that you would – I mean, if you're going to start that low, you better make bigger jumps. 18 pulls on that is way too – What would you do? Would you start there and do bigger jumps, or would you have started higher and smaller jumps? Dude, these are the best in the world. This is a deeper field than the games. You have 20 of the world's best athletes. The games, you have 40.
Starting point is 00:18:30 Like, you could have started way higher. Right, right. These guys. I think the only person who couldn't pull the first bar was Hoffer. Well, okay. And Bethany. Fine. Yeah, I mean, that's an exception.
Starting point is 00:18:40 Right, right. I think that's okay, too. I think that's okay, too. There's nothing wrong with that. And they have the tiebreaker for just such an occasion. If anyone ties in any way, they have that to use. So, I mean, it's in there. It's in the mix.
Starting point is 00:18:54 They covered their ass on that, and they're good. They didn't need to have that many bars. That was just way, way too many. So, we didn't get this validated, and I screwed this up. I should have asked Katie this. Way way too many so we Didn't get this validated and I screwed this up I should have Asked Katie this um we Originally were told that the men were going to start
Starting point is 00:19:08 At 385 But it looks like after what they saw What happened with the women and how long it went That they moved it up to 455 But but we don't have we don't know That for sure I think the 385 was Just left over from the last bar that The women pulled oh okay so
Starting point is 00:19:23 Okay okay so that's just a rumor Yeah Reported incorrectly yes It was just leftover from the last bar that the women pulled. Oh, okay. So, okay. Okay. So that's just a rumor. Yeah. Reported incorrectly. Yes. All right. But even still, like they had to at some point of thought, I was like, okay, we know we have Chandler. We know we have Danny. Let's look at the top end.
Starting point is 00:19:40 So if we're going to go 10 pound increments and then 5 pound increments, what is that going to look like? Are we forcing them to go 18 to 20 pulls? That is a lot. After they just did 120 pulls at 95 pounds. I think it would have been better if they had had the first weight so high that a certain amount of people wouldn't even, would have just got
Starting point is 00:19:59 zeros on it. That's what they do in strongman events. Exactly. And they again, they had the tiebreaker to make it so the was on it well i mean that's what they do in strongman events exactly exactly and they they again they had the tiebreaker to make it so the points were set up the way the points were going to be set up i mean if you if you can't step into the game with whatever weight that they wanted to set okay you're not the deadlifter this isn't your event anyway so you're gonna end up at the bottom but why are we why are we having to go through 40 minutes while all the athletes 40 minutes of lifting or you know it could have been it could have been like this it could have been
Starting point is 00:20:30 where uh like high jump where you get to pick when you want to come in or like olympic you get to pick where you want to come in yeah oh wow wow somebody's mentioning that we were watching so so i was about to rip jason i wonder if jason said they should have gotten the athletes to divide amongst themselves where to start knowing when it was up five to ten pounds. Now, I think this is a horrible idea. This is like asking your kids what they want to eat for dinner or asking your wife what position she wants. No, you decide those. You fucking decide those. But, Jason, let's take Bill's idea and let's give them an opportunity.
Starting point is 00:21:04 But, Jason, let's take Bill's idea and let's give them an opportunity. And if you fuck up and come in at 375 and you can't do it, but it started at 305, you're shit out of luck. Now I like that. Well, okay, you're not shit out of luck. You get to use your… Tie break. Your tie break. Right, right. The thing you'd have to do is like win.
Starting point is 00:21:19 You don't even get one lift. Let's say you don't even get one lift. Let's say it gets up to 350 and you jump in the game and you're… Right. So you would be down at that bottom tier everyone that was 20th yeah yep and you go all by the jerry can race right and that's your that's your deadlift because the thing is like that's a good idea i mean again if you are if you want these athletes to be able to race for the weekend like again that was just so much pulling and hinging from the floor.
Starting point is 00:21:45 Do you think, and I'm just speculating here, do you think they did that and started it purposely that low, knowing that it would give all the bottom, and I use this term loosely, bottom-tier athletes a chance to PR in front of the crowd and have that moment in terms of they programmed to showcase the athletes? So do you think how much of that was taken into consideration? Like, hey, if we start it lower,
Starting point is 00:22:04 some of these people that wouldn't even lift with the first bar we originally decided on we'll pr in front of the crowd they'll have their moment it'll be this this is not a local competition one and two no one even like cool someone pr'd like one of the girls maybe they pr'd it at 355 awesome but no one really knew it except for the person that pulled it the only one that they're watching is the, like the last two or the last three or the last five on the last platform. That's it. I mean,
Starting point is 00:22:30 you give me an opportunity to actually PR their deadlift too. This is not the time for them to get, let's give you an opportunity to, I mean, it's a showcase for the athletes to begin with. So Barry, you're so lucky. I saw your post that said,
Starting point is 00:22:44 bring up my super chat i had completely missed that i don't look at anything under 20 bucks uh deja uh for good road coverage by the sebi show thank you um i do want to say this that was completely inappropriate what you asked uh tyson beijing deja i saw you asked it the first time. You asked it the second time. I knew I shouldn't have read it. 20 burpees. That's between me and Deja. It's me and Deja. Different show.
Starting point is 00:23:10 Different guy. Okay. All right. Fergie show. I'll tell you after this. Villner had more in the tank, but his hands ripped. That's what he said. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Okay. Well, let's ask. I don't even think he should have even tried that. Who? Pat? Patrick. Why not? 600?
Starting point is 00:23:24 605? I just don't.'s why do it you already got second place it's good enough why why are you doing it because maybe chandler well i think not that for the crowd because you're a competitor because you're dumb because i think i think because he was pulling fine and he was pulling fine. I mean, he... Okay, what do I know? It blows my mind how good of a deadlifter Pat has been in his career with CrossFit. I just... It shouldn't shock me the way that it does, but it does every single time.
Starting point is 00:23:58 He's so damn good. And he said, too, like... He was like, yeah, because they were like... Chandler said, hey, you're looking... It looks like it was looking good. happened he goes like I said it's it's great until it's not yeah and so I don't think Pat knew I think right maybe I've got another 10 15 and went to go
Starting point is 00:24:12 lift it was like oh nope that's it yeah sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry I just like that I had the scoop I understand I understand come on you guys most guests about dating but you were being careful with Tyson I get it yeah Yeah, yeah. I'm not going to ask him about his pussy.
Starting point is 00:24:32 There's a... I care. People are like, Sevan doesn't care. The fuck I don't care. I'm fucking working some angles here. Give him a couple more shows. Give him a couple more shows. Yeah, yeah, and Deja You knew and I didn't know I got schooled too, you fucked me up too
Starting point is 00:24:49 But thank you for the Deja And if you don't know, you don't know But most of you know because you watch the show Patty Vellner Look at this The second strongest man in CrossFit Pat Vellner with a 5 this. The second strongest man in CrossFit,
Starting point is 00:25:08 Pat Vellner with a 595 at the Rogue Invitational, currently leading with 490 points. Can we see the strongest guy? Can we see the strongest guy in all of CrossFit? Yeah, let me skip ahead to it just a sec. Man, oh man. Okay, here we go. I don't like this already.
Starting point is 00:25:25 I don't even. As soon as I see both of our names together, I know I'm getting ass pounded. Seve and Bill look like they're about to sell me a machine gun. You look good. Yeah, drag Bill into it. The strongest man in CrossFit crowned tonight at the 2023 Rogue Invitational. Really apropos being that there's also a strongman competition there. Chandler Smith, 30 years old, shows the crowd what three-on, one-off looks like. It's your local affiliate.
Starting point is 00:25:53 Here we go. Oh, yeah, and then a look back at the 6'10". For the icing on the cake. Stood it up just like he did 6'05". A little bit more of a fight above the knee. But he showed us what time it was, and it's Chandler time. With the beautiful tones of Adrian Conway God that's gotta be one of the worst stutters ever That was the best shot by the way of the week so far
Starting point is 00:26:12 That wide shot showing the back of the deadlifter With the crowd facing him Behind him looking into the crowd Yeah that's a great shot Bone Media Savon looks like Lil Dicky. I am not a Jew. I am an Armenian.
Starting point is 00:26:32 I have a carpet for you, not a jewelry. Okay. Pat Vellner, can we pull up the boys' leaderboard? Let me see if there's any other things here. Broken back. Roman went out of turn. Do we have any issues with that? I got some issues with that.
Starting point is 00:26:52 I don't know how that would have happened. They call them up. I don't know how. I don't get how that happened. ESL, baby. ESL. English is my... Fuck you.
Starting point is 00:27:00 You ain't going to give me a flag. I lift when I want to lift. I mean, okay. But I just don't... I don't... I didn't see that he went out of order. I ain't gonna give me a flag. I lift when I want to lift. I mean, okay, but I just don't, I don't I didn't see that he went out of order. I wasn't really watching. Dude, he looks part crocodile. Him and Ricky Gerard were hatched out of the same fucking egg pool.
Starting point is 00:27:18 You know, crocodiles put their eggs in the same pool. Is that like Land of the Lost or something like that? You could shoot Ricky and Roman in the forehead with a.22 and it would ricochet off. You better be wearing safety goggles. How did he go out of turn? How do you go out of turn, Roman? He got impatient. Because his translator wasn't there.
Starting point is 00:27:37 Hey, you know they tried to get her back there, like out on the field of play. We should ask Katie that. That's another good one to ask Katie tomorrow I always see him chatting it up With all of the other athletes around there Like how does everyone understand What's going on but all of a sudden
Starting point is 00:27:54 He doesn't understand anything that's going on Did Roman try to get His translator What was the other question we were going to ask Katie For tomorrow What was the men's weight supposed to stay at in the deadlift? This is for you, Sousa. These are good.
Starting point is 00:28:10 What was men's original start weight? Are you Dave, a claims-free hybrid-driving university grad who signed up online? Well, Dave, this jingle's for you. Starting point is 00:29:11 DignityMemorial.ca Or was that the plan to go that many rounds? During testing, what was the plan for how many rounds they would go? Yeah. Are you on the final show tomorrow? I'm at the end show tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Yeah. Oh yeah. Awesome. Oh yeah. Perfect. All right. And I'll never be back again. Again.
Starting point is 00:29:37 Okay, cool. Okay. Uh, uh, Fergie show, uh, Sam dancer still with the strongest, uh,
Starting point is 00:29:43 with the six 55 at the ranch. Oh, thank you fergie that is true yeah nice uh nice uh tidbit very very nice um tidbit um let me go through here a little bit uh tutor magda uh a little Dickie call. All the sounds on that one. Yeah. All the sounds. Yeah. The whole soundboard.
Starting point is 00:30:17 I wanted the cheering. It's like a, I should just write on here. Thank you. Thank you. So Tudor, Tudor Magda, no surprise, right? Like, we've been talking about how strong he is for three years.
Starting point is 00:30:32 Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's, he moves, his position off the floor is just really, really, really just so strong. I mean, we saw the same thing when he was snatching the semis. The exact same deal. He's power from the floor, man.
Starting point is 00:30:47 Who's stronger, him or John Young? I don't know what John's numbers are for these. I think John's a weightlifting beast. Yeah, he's super strong. I don't think John has a 600-pound deadlift. No, I don't think so has a 600-pound deadlift. No. No, I don't think so either. He does not. I think last he said it was like 530 or something.
Starting point is 00:31:10 Yeah, projected. Projected. Yeah, yeah. He did like a three rep at 505 or some shit. It's the back of the napkin math. Back of the napkin math says 505. Okay. First place, Pat Vellner, 490.
Starting point is 00:31:23 Second place, Jeffrey Adler at 400. Impressive that the champ – can you scroll to the top, Mr. Beaver? Impressive that the champ is still holding on with 545, 50 pounds less deadlift than Pat Vellner. He took ninth in that. Vellner took – wait a second, that doesn't make sense. They have Vellner as third with 595. Oh, because that's because of the race
Starting point is 00:31:46 That's the Tiebreaker Oh Magda had a 595 too Wow I thought he tapped before Vellner for some reason Well he did but he pulled 605 it was Tudor
Starting point is 00:32:02 Then Chandler and then Pat Vellner who pulled 605 in succession and tutor didn't hit it chandler hit it and then pat hit it pat didn't hit it it was the last of the three to try to attempt 605 all right so 490 for pat 400 for adler and then roman with 385 and Roman is fighting. Listen to this people. Listen to this. We basically have a one, two, three, four,
Starting point is 00:32:29 five way tie between Roman Brent, Jason Hopper, Chandler Smith, and Travis Mayer, all within 10 points of each other. Dude, I'm stroked. I'm stoked on Travis Mayer.
Starting point is 00:32:42 You're stroked for Travis Mayer. I am. I am so stroked for Travis Mayer. Dude. I mean, I think on the deadlift, I honestly think he popped out like four more gray hairs, but it's working for him. Here's what's happening. He's getting old man strong now.
Starting point is 00:32:58 He's going to grow into the old man strength. Yeah, this is wild. Janikowski took 20th. He has been consistent wild. Janikowski took 20th. He has been consistent throughout. It's his fifth 20th place. Let's go all the way to the bottom and just give a nod to our homeboy who no one knows where he came from. Looked good even doing it.
Starting point is 00:33:20 Garrett Clark, eighth place, 565. Strong dude. Strong. doing it. Garrett Clark, 8th place, 565. Strong dude. I don't know how he held onto the bar with all of those rips on his hand. It was pretty impressive. I don't know how he did that either. Where did you see his rips? On his Instagram? He couldn't hold onto the cage.
Starting point is 00:33:37 It was after the monkey bars. He killed the cage. He was doing one rung at a time and basically couldn't get any further than that and then deadlifted just crazy number already and so it's pretty dope he's got a pretty big inception too it was still labeled i mean he held on to the bar and the or the rings and the uh the snatch you know earlier today too he didn't finish it but i mean he's had his hands have been through the grinder just like everyone else.
Starting point is 00:34:06 It's nuts. There's so many Garrett Clarks on Instagram, I'll never find them. Is that like John Smith? Did you put in Garrett Clark CrossFit? I did. I put Garrett Clark CrossFit Instagram. You could see how shredded everybody's hands was when they got their shots and were reaching down to the bar. Everybody was taped up. Everybody had some sort of grip. Like even their individual fingers were taped.
Starting point is 00:34:28 Like you could tell people were, were shredded up. Oh yeah. Yeah. There's a famous golfer named Garrett Clark and that he fucks everything up. He's got on that SEO. All right. We'll come back to the boys when we talk briefly about tomorrow morning's
Starting point is 00:34:42 workout. Let's cruise over to the ladies who went first started at 305 pulled for closer to two hours than one hour i want to say that they crossed the hour and a half mark um i for briefly i went over to listen to sherwood and uh annie thor's daughter and katherine david's daughter and adrian bosman uh tried to report on this um i i i quickly went back to sean and adrian it was just they just they ran out of shit to talk about um it was just it was crazy hey they also had brian shaw back there and they weren't even reporting on one of the events they were just interviewing them which i which i guess you could do whatever you want uh women um tia claire to me with the fourth place um in that event but she is in a tie basically she has five points on laura horvat tia to me 505 laura horvat 500 laura beat her by one
Starting point is 00:35:39 place with a 415 lift and took third place then emma Lawson with 415, Gabriella Magawa with 395, Alex Gazan 375. She took first place with a 425 lift with more in the tank. She looked so damn strong. I mean, there wasn't a break in her positioning at all. It was a trip to see Dani pull the way that she does. And she just kind of heaves the bar up. But the way that Alex just positions and she's direct, I mean,
Starting point is 00:36:16 she's under the bar and just like squats it up almost. I mean, look at, look at that upright. Her chest is. Yeah. That was nuts. That was a PR, right? I mean, I think they announced that looks nuts That was a PR right
Starting point is 00:36:27 I think they announced it as a PR I think they announced 405 was a PR I think that was her listed She said she PR'd a few times Wow I mean Just every Once she got over her listed PR
Starting point is 00:36:43 These did not look like there was any issue. So damn strong. Have a good day, too. Tell them, Caleb. You have a good day, too. Hey, Savant says have a good day as well. Yeah, thank you. Yeah, I am your man. Danny Spiegel
Starting point is 00:37:04 does Event 5 with the first place and Event 6 with the second place. Can you believe that? Oh, dang. It's a bunch of buttery bros right there. It's a bunch of butteries. It's a bunch of butteries. Look at these boys.
Starting point is 00:37:20 Hey, you're not getting straight out of it. Is that Fred Nurse? Yeah, is that Fred Nurse? A bunch of boomers. A bunch of boomers. A bunch of boomers. Hey, Sevan, how's that behind the scenes, bro? Two more years. Two more years.
Starting point is 00:37:34 I want to like and subscribe. 2025. 2025. What a good bunch of dudes All buttery Okay Hats look good on them Yeah
Starting point is 00:37:51 They've been in the get up They even got the boots to match Yeah They couldn't get the Puerto Rican To put on a hat though He won't do that There's not enough color in those hats He's gotta wear something pink or purple
Starting point is 00:38:00 Or something Alright He's been colonized Okay Danny Spiegel first in a second she's i mean i mean she's got to be proud very short workouts short explosive uh strong person workouts right that's what we saw danny take and we saw her take advantage show what she's made of i dude i i was blown away at how fast she can move on that sprint. And agile.
Starting point is 00:38:30 And agile. The way she's tucking under the bar and stuff. Yeah. Like, I mean, you watch her sprinting speed across the floor. And, I mean, there was no one that could touch her. Oh, built like mountain, moved like water. Built like mountain, moved like water. She moved like lightning, dude. She didn't move like water, she moved like lightning.
Starting point is 00:38:49 But the way she rolled over that bar was slippery and so much faster than everyone else. Yeah, slick. Crazy. It's weird. It's such a trip because you wonder what her whole mindset is when she's
Starting point is 00:39:06 coming to these competitions especially even something like this it looks like we i mean we you know in our thread you know we talk about it a lot it's like uh she she doesn't even care to even be here it's like ah whatever i'm last i don't care i'm smiling waving and then she gets a chance an event that she's good at and she just I mean doesn't just hit a home run just like knocks it every time I see that in our chat I call bullshit on it she has to work too hard to not give a shit if she says she doesn't
Starting point is 00:39:33 oh I didn't even see that car did you see her slide under that thing yeah it's like ninja moves dude it's ninja movements that she has yeah it's insane she learned that has. Yeah. I think it's from Titan Games. She learned that from Titan Games, I think. Oh, maybe.
Starting point is 00:39:48 That's crazy. Ask, is that O'Keefe over your shoulder? No, it's PC. Oh, my God. Everyone's there. Yeah. She has peaks and valleys. Yeah, let's watch again.
Starting point is 00:39:59 The stuff she's good at. Yeah, right there, that slide. I see. I wouldn't. I don't know if it's peaks and valleys. I think the thing that keeps her in the mix is that when she has the opportunity to smash an event, she smashes it. And that gives her enough points to stay in there. And she's leaning when she runs.
Starting point is 00:40:17 I mean, she would make Romanoff proud. Oh, dude. She has got the pose. You know what's crazy about the, this is going to backtrack just a tad, but Katie's comment on the Wi-Fi going out and then JR's call on having the touch so they could go back when the chip timer goes out
Starting point is 00:40:33 and then now knowing that the Wi-Fi is linked to the chip timer. Yeah. You fucking called it again, huh? Perfectly. Oh, JR, yeah. Yeah, he nailed that right. Maybe he pulled the plug. Oh, shit.
Starting point is 00:40:44 He's like, watch this. this I'm gonna get another right one Blade Walker you can't pull one over on Blade I knew she had The scoots He just has the craziest saying I love it So Danny we'll talk about her Very shortly again Emma Carey takes a 17th.
Starting point is 00:41:06 Uh, Lauren Fisher takes an eighth. Uh, Manon Anganese takes a sixth, her second best of the evening. Um, she should be really proud of herself. Uh, Alex Kazan takes a first. Um, any, any shocks in here? Let's go down to the bottom. Uh, Karen Freyova, a 12. Oh, I have it organized wrong. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:41:26 I have it organized by total ranking. You want it by event six? No, no, it's okay. You leave it by total rank. I'll go by event. That way people can see where they're placed. Elena, 19th. Rolf, 18th.
Starting point is 00:41:42 Let's talk about Rolf really quick. This is a world class games athlete Yes Maybe knocking on the top tier Right I would say she'd be at the Top end of the second tier Yeah
Starting point is 00:41:59 She's one of those athletes Well We're looking at it right here And we're looking at this 315 deadlift Yeah. I mean, she's one of those athletes that, well, in game season, you can't keep her out. And we're looking at this, a 315 deadlift ain't going to cut it. If Sevan, when he was 30, deadlifted 315, you're fucked. It's not good, yeah. I mean, 19, 20th,
Starting point is 00:42:18 18th, yeah, you can't finish like that. Can she fix that? She's already made of steel. She looks like she's made of steel are you talking about like overall for the yeah like emily roland are you talking about this competition no no can she this rogue next year pull 350 yeah i don't i don't know you you see her back squat and it looks so fucking strong and she can just shoot out of the hole on it but then you watch her deadlift and it's like a completely different movement. I mean, obviously.
Starting point is 00:42:45 And hey, Bill, while you're going to talk about her, let's talk about Daniel Brandon. Devastating. What another fucking phenom in the second tier with the 335. These aren't going to cut it. No. Ariel Lowen, 345, a beloved favorite. When you see this, you're like, oh, shit, you're never.
Starting point is 00:43:00 I mean, Ariel made it. That's incredible. Ariel made it to third place at the CrossFit Games with the 345 max deadlift, isn't it? But, okay, but the deadlift is not the overall. That does not say whether you're a top-tier athlete or not. I just, I think that that's going to be, for a CrossFitter, it's going to be more your cleans.
Starting point is 00:43:17 It's going to be your clean and jerks. I mean, squats, okay. They're not indicative of each other? They're not indicative? No, I don't think so. I think if you're looking at a percentage of that like okay who's the beat going to be the most badass at like 80 percent of whatever these these uh these weights are going to be then you're going to be able to see the crossfitters really do what they need to do and the good crossfitters that like the games
Starting point is 00:43:38 will be able to advance forward like that that's where you're going to see someone like ralph hop up there in the game on a lift like this. I just don't, I mean, we've done the totals, but we're not going to do a one rep max deadlift for these athletes. I just don't see something like that in the games. For this, it is a, okay, we have the strong man going on, so we want to do something like this with these athletes to kind of showcase what we can do too. But for most crossfit athletes that is not going to be the
Starting point is 00:44:08 the the lift that's going to get them and showcase what they can do let me push back just a little bit more because you almost got me as you want okay here we go emma lawson 365 yeah now we're fucking talking now that it's numbers like that that are like, okay, she's good everywhere. Without a doubt. She's good everywhere. I'm not saying you can't be, you are going to be a good CrossFit Games level athlete if you don't have the strength numbers. I'm just saying it's not all about the one rep max all the way to the top.
Starting point is 00:44:40 Now, are the numbers that Emily has? No, that's not good. But again, look at how many athletes are like yeah i'm good i don't i don't want to i don't want to risk it yeah maybe her maybe her hands were jacked up maybe her her back's all all you know flared up from fatigue i mean there was a lot of things they were playing into that one rep max deadlift a lot of those you don't know what we're talking about and i don't even know what we're talking about but i'm going to clear it up with bill here what bill is saying i think to me is like look knucklehead she has a 425 deadlift that doesn't translate into a fucking 240 pound snatch there might be women who have a 350 deadlift 75 pounds less than her who can snatch more than her yeah and you wouldn't be surprised at all
Starting point is 00:45:23 it's just a deadlift it doesn't translate to all these like savvy doesn't make you all of a sudden like fucking superhuman everywhere the best deadlifter out there was chandler and he even said this was my one party trick that's why i went big for the crowd because i can and i would argue most of those athletes never train the top end uh strength of their deadlift as they would need to improve it and if you were going to pick one movement to kind of talk about what you're saying so on is i would say squat snatch is most indicative so if you had somebody out there that hits a really high squat snatch that it just is executed perfectly you could point at that person and
Starting point is 00:45:59 say that person's got a shot at winning the games i do not think that that correlates with the deadlift good good what if you look at all the lifts that are out there what's the one that everyone's gonna really hurt themselves on because they can slightly get out of position with a lot of load that puts you out in in i mean you said when you even said it you saw when when brent when brent pulled and he came up he's like oh his oh, his career is done. Obviously joking. But did you see the way he got up? It was a very slow. And I even said in the chat, I'm like, that's decompression.
Starting point is 00:46:31 He's got to like decompress all that because it's a lot of weight in that hang position, that hinge position. So of all, I mean, a lot of athletes aren't going to risk that one lift because why? Who cares? How often are you going to get a one rep max deadlift in a competition? And if you do, you're like, all right, I just need just enough just to hedge against that. Everything else I'll crush it. I think it was more
Starting point is 00:46:54 for the show. Justin M., thank you for the loot. I assume it's the same Justin on top. Sevan. I'm the older brother anyway. With all of this dark hair. Fuck. He's not Armenian. No, I'm the older brother anyway With all of this dark hair Fuck He's not Armenian
Starting point is 00:47:08 No I'm Italian Fergie show with 18 rounds of deadlifts The girls C And S Central nervous system Thank you Mr. Grendler Is blown For tomorrow
Starting point is 00:47:22 What is the central nervous system? Is that why after you deadlift, you can't write your name? Right? Yeah. So you aren't muscularly fatigued, but your, your body had to use so many,
Starting point is 00:47:35 uh, to pull, to recruit so many different muscle fibers to support and move that weight that like the nervous system that your body was using just went into dump so that's the part that's tired but on top of that they did do all kinds of pulling from the floor all day long so they are going to be not only central nervous system fatigue but they're also going to have a lot of just muscle fatigue after that you know those voices you hear those are the girls like waiting to take caleb home
Starting point is 00:48:06 after the show they're like fuck there's me you guys been here it's like guys waiting around it's like guy yeah it's like guys waiting around at a bar because like my fucking wife's listening you jackass it's like guys waiting around at a bar till it closes seeing like the girls like they're like okay when caleb take those headphones off we're moving in probably true Aaron thank you always a great contributor typically it's affected the most
Starting point is 00:48:33 when you're overloading the post interior chain backside backside thank you one right after another heavy repetitively I think I heard brian shaw say it takes two weeks for that shit to recover from a from a max load but but he was talking like a thousand pounds or more yeah same idea same idea right uh where bill and i and suza are it's 808
Starting point is 00:49:01 p.m where caleb is it's uh it Where Caleb is, it's almost heaven time. It's almost sugar time. They are going to kick me out soon, so I'll have to leave soon. Okay, okay. Let's make it fast. Tomorrow we will go over. We're going to wrap this up here, but tomorrow we will go over in depth in the morning, 6.30 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, in more detail how we think tomorrow is going to play out. But let's look at event number seven, and let's right away just talk about what we care about the most laura
Starting point is 00:49:29 horvat uh five points excuse me behind tia to me 505 and 500 505 for miss 500 for horvat uh the workout is called whole cans it's got some echo bike uh 20 dumbbell fat bell ground overhead so so some sort of snatch with 70 pounds for the men 53 for the women a 75 uh foot uh front rack lunge with 135 for the men 95 for the women oh this is gonna be fun a run hill sled push so i think those are two separate things and then back to the lunge and then the snatch and then the echo bike uh who wins that uh let's start with suza suza who wins that between tia to me and laura horvat i i at this point i just want to see him go back to back i want laura to win this one in that way it just creates the continued drama between them right up to
Starting point is 00:50:25 the last minute. Okay. Outside of your personal desires. Do you have a pick or can you not see past those? Are you like an eight year old boy? He is going to win it. How could you ever doubt her out? Like,
Starting point is 00:50:36 I mean, if you're not loyal, Jesus Christ, be loyal to your inner eight year old, Mr. Grundler, a Tia to me in the, what would you call it?
Starting point is 00:50:44 Would you call it a chipper? Yeah, it's an up and down chipper.old. Mr. Grundler, Tia Toomey in the... What would you call this? Would you call this a chipper? Yeah, it's an up and down chipper, yeah. Okay. Tia, is it even close? Tia Toomey, Ur? Yeah, it's going to be close. 100% it's going to be close. But I pick Laura in this one. I like her
Starting point is 00:50:59 power output. I think that that hill sled push is going to be very similar to the the echo bike um she's got a lot of power we've seen her do it we we know her capacity going overhead is not going to be a problem for her and that front rack for tia i don't think that mommy belly's ready for that well i don't know dude she did just fine on the deadlift her mommy belly is fine don't ruin my theory okay um and finally before we switch to the men alex gazan sitting at 375 points emma lawson's at 415 i don't think alex makes it up i think i think emma
Starting point is 00:51:33 puts on a clinic with this workout yeah i like his hand man like she just she just she just looks on these on these power type events i just see her doing really really well okay she's compact enough she's able to move enough i i just i think she's gonna do really well i mean losses i i love watching lawson move she just she's she moves like a dancer moves oh so well so well, you know, so well. And not that I don't think she will do well. I mean, I I honestly hope that both of those girls can get in there between her between Tia and Laura. I want them to help out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:16 Come on, ladies. Help out the situation here. Yeah. You know what I mean? All right. Let's move over to the boys before we lose Caleb here. We'll go to the men. The the race. Roman Krennikoff, Brent Fikowski, Jason Hopper, Chandler Smith and Travis Mayer.
Starting point is 00:52:38 Who wins that? Roman, Brent, Jason, Chandler, Travis, Travis, Roman. I got to say Roman. I'm going to say Roman and then Travis. Yeah, Roman. And then Brent, and then Jason and Chandler don't finish. Damn. I think he might be good for Jason, and if he's got a little momentum with that first and the fourth,
Starting point is 00:53:01 he might come in with a different attitude in the morning and attack a lot. I want it. I'd love to see Jason get the podium. That would really fucking be first and the fourth. He might come in with a different attitude in the morning and attack. I want it. I'd love to see Jason get the podium.
