The gut is not only the gateway to the immune system, it's the gateway to our skin, to our
cognitive health. It's even been called the second brain. So if you were to touch your cheek,
that skin is contiguous with the inside of your gut. Your gut is actually outside of your body.
You know, so often the gut microbiome and the gut health in general is the most overlooked thing,
in my opinion, in all of modern modern medicine we overlook the gut in so many
different chronic conditions that it's time for us to stop and focus on our gut the gut is one of the
most important gateways to optimal health so if you're someone that suffers from skin issues mood
disorders poor sleep fatigue lethargy brain fog if any of these symptoms sound familiar it may be
time for you to do a gut reset there are trillions of microorganisms in our gut. So many of you are
suffering from chronic conditions that are actually not chronic conditions that have happened to you.
They are chronic conditions that have happened. Hey guys, welcome back to the Ultimate Human Shorts
brought to you by the chilly mountains
of Colorado, one of my favorite places in the world. And I'm actually here today to talk about
one of my favorite topics, which is gut health. You know, so often the gut microbiome and the gut
health in general is the most overlooked thing, in my opinion, in all of modern medicine.
We're realizing now that the gut is not only the gateway to the immune system,
it's the gateway to our skin, to our cognitive health. It's even been called the second brain.
There's so many articles, peer-reviewed published clinical trials, and books that are now written
on the connection between the gut and overall general health and systemic disease, autoimmune
conditions, and even conditions of mental health. So we're here today to talk about how can we improve our gut health,
what does the gut have to do with the rest of our biome,
and how does this ecosystem revolve around this 30-foot-long conveyor belt
that separates our inside world from our outside world.
Well, first of all, the gut is more than just a place where we digest nutrients.
The gut is where we feed our cells, where our cellular
biology gets the nutrients it needs to do its job. You know that the inside of your intestine is
actually contiguous with the outside of your cheek. So if you were to touch your cheek, that skin is
contiguous with the inside of your gut. Your gut is actually outside of your body. It runs through
your body, but it's outside of your body. And what separates your inside world
from your outside world is a single cell layer. One layer of cells protecting you from all of the
contents that are inside of your gut that should not be in our bloodstream from leaving the gut
and entering the bloodstream. So the gut is one of the most important gateways to optimal health.
Remember, 70% of our immune system lies right outside of our gut.
Histamines are very often generated in the gut. These are inflammatory compounds. And so we overlook the gut in so many different chronic conditions that it's time for us to stop and
focus on our gut. And then I'm going to tell you how you can participate in a free three-day gut
challenge that's designed to sort of heal and soothe and repair the gut because so many of you
are suffering from chronic conditions that are actually not chronic conditions that have happened to you.
They are chronic conditions that have happened within you.
So when we go down and start talking about this single cell layer, remember there are trillions of microorganisms in our gut.
We don't actually eat food to feed ourselves.
Our cellular biology cannot process the food that we eat.
We eat for one reason.
We eat to feed our microorganisms.
All these trillions of microorganisms that are inside of our gut break down these compounds
into the usable form that passes through the wall of our gut, enters our bloodstream, and
then gets utilized in cellular respiration.
The only way that our cells repair, detoxify, eliminate waste, and regenerate and function and thrive is because of our healthy gut.
So let's break this down.
We masticate our food, we swallow it, it goes into our stomach, it bathes in our stomach acid, and then it moves into our gut and now starts the 30-foot long journey inside of our body to processing these nutrients and turning them into compounds that we can absorb and our cellular biology can use. So often there are things linked to poor gut health that we're not even thinking could possibly
be related not just to what we're eating, but to the actual function of our digestive tract.
So if you're someone that suffers from skin issues, mood disorders, poor sleep, fatigue,
lethargy, brain fog, and these conditions have become chronic, they may be related to the
health of your gut. So I'm launching a three-day gut challenge because I know so many people are
suffering from low energy, from skin problems, from mood swings, from frequent colds or weakened
immune systems, and these are not pathologies and diseases that often happen to us. Again,
these are pathologies and diseases that happen within us. If any of these symptoms sound familiar, it may be time for you to do a gut reset. So let's talk about the science
behind this gut reset challenge that I'm launching. The challenge is built on the principles of
eliminating gut irritants, restoring beneficial bacteria, and nourishing your gut with essential
nutrients. Day one is all about resetting your gut. Day two is where we start to rebuild. And day three is focused on
restoring your gut to the optimal function. Hey guys, it's me, Gary Brekka, and I'm excited to
announce the free three-day ultimate gut reset challenge. You guys asked and I listened, which
is why I created the three-day program designed to reset and rebuild your gut health. We kick off
on October 28th, and over those three days, we'll eliminate gut irritants,
introduce healing foods, and nourish your gut with expert guidance. If you've been struggling with low energy, bloating, or brain fog, this is your chance to make a change. Head to gut.theultimatehuman.com
to sign up, and let's take your gut and your health to the next level. And that's just science.
Now let's get back to the Ultimate Human Podcast. that are irritating our gut. We're going to actually use healing foods that are readily available in all of your grocery stores at a very, very low price to start healing and repairing the
gut and soothing the gut lining. We're going to use collagen-rich bone broth. So bone broth is
one of the easiest things to put into the body. I use it to get into, I use it to get out of a fast.
It's one of the greatest ways to ease your way into a fast and to ease your way out of a fast. It's one of the greatest ways to ease your way into a fast and to ease your way out of a fast.
Doesn't require a lot of digestion, does not create pro-inflammatory compounds. We can even use things like Thai coconut soups. So we're going to give you a list of things that you could get
at your common grocery store that are going to cost you next to nothing. And we're going to start
day one to heal and soothe our gut with natural compounds. I want to teach you that you don't need
to rely on chemicals
or synthetics or pharmaceuticals to reduce inflammation. We can do this by changing our
diet and giving our gut a break. So on day two, we're going to introduce some really healing foods,
things like kimchi and sauerkraut. These are the fermented vegetables, my favorite vegetables.
I make these a part of at least two of my three meals every single day. These are
inexpensive foods. They're fermented. Most of you have a grandmother that actually canned vegetables
and fermented vegetables when you were growing up. They knew exactly what they were doing.
Fermented foods not only get into the gut and provide soluble and insoluble fiber, but the
insoluble fiber becomes something called free fatty acids. And these free fatty acids are
anti-inflammatory. They actually help to heal and seal the gut, and they can even provide the
foundation for your gut bacteria to repopulate itself so you have more healthy bacteria than
bad bacteria. By day three, you are already going to notice the changes. Yes, only 72 hours into
this fast, you're already going to feel that uplift in your mood, that lightness in your stomach.
You may even notice that you start to have regular bowel movements.
And this is when we start to incorporate the omega-3 fatty acid rich foods.
Things like wild caught salmon, kimchi, sauerkraut, in addition to what we've already been eating in the previous two days. We're going to fill our bellies with omega-rich fatty acids,
with soluble and insoluble fibers,
and prebiotic and probiotic-rich foods,
natural ways of restoring our gut health.
You know, it's so nice to know that we don't actually have to rely on a pharmacy
or supplementation or any kind of fancy chemical or synthetic
in order to heal and repair our gut.
We can go right back to Mother Nature, and we can eat foods in their whole food form so we can actually help
to heal and repair our gut and reduce our inflammatory level system-wide. For those of
you that are watching this and just want some tips on how to improve your gut health, let me just
give you some tips that you can start on tomorrow without any kind of fancy equipment, supplementation,
chemicals, synthetics, or any pharmaceuticals of any kind. Number one, start to incorporate more fermented vegetables into your
diet. Try things like sauerkraut and kimchi, pickles, fermented vegetables that actually give
you the good fibers and the prebiotics that we need to feed our gut. Hydrate with clean water.
You know that I'm a big fan of not drinking tap water. Chlorines, fluorides, microplastics, pharmaceuticals,
all sorts of things that are in our tap water
can destroy our healthy gut bacteria.
So for a week, try to drink only bottled water,
preferably out of glass.
And if you're one of those folks
that's been following me for a long time,
you know that I believe that hydrogen water
is the most powerful water you can put in the human body.
If you don't wanna spring for a hydrogen water bottle that actually makes hydrogen-rich water, you can actually buy hydrogen tablets. They'll run you about a dollar a day. Try drinking
hydrogen water just for one week. Make it the only primary source of your hydration, and you will see
your gut health improve. You'll thank me later. Manage your stress. You know, we want to not only
eat more fiber-rich foods and more prebi. You know, we want to not only eat more fiber-rich
foods and more prebiotic foods, but we want to start practicing things like mindfulness,
breathwork, and consistent bedtimes. Believe it or not, these can have a massive impact on our gut.
When we're stressed, histamines are released in our gut, and this disrupts our gut function.
Not only does it disrupt our bacteria, but it also disrupts the motility of
our gut. One of the most overlooked things in all of modern medicine is the actual pace at which
our gut moves contents through the gut from the end of our stomach out our rectum. And when that
speed changes, you get all kinds of symptoms like gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation,
irritability, and cramping. You may be trying to link these to what you last ate, but they may be more related to the pace of your gut. There are so many conditions of the gut that
we refer to as pathology and disease, Crohn's disease, diverticulitis, ulcerative colitis,
irritable bowel syndrome, which I think is kind of nonsense because it's just a name for a collection
of symptoms. When you have a certain series of symptoms, you're told, oh, you have irritable
bowel syndrome. What if I told you that these may just be related to the disruption in your gut
lining, and it may be easier to repair your gut lining than you think? Remember, this single cell
layer is the only thing separating our inside environment from our outside environment. So
we're going to start this challenge with healing foods and some of the tips that I just gave you,
and then we're going to take your specific questions for people that may have more advanced gut-related issues.
We're going to talk about real powerful ways
that we can heal and seal the gut.
Sometimes this might involve peptides.
It can involve things like binders.
Very often, if you've had an inflammatory condition
in your gut for a prolonged period of time,
we'll introduce things like binders,
activated charcoal, silica clays,
and other binders that will actually help absorb
the toxins in your gut and lead you to a healthy repair cycle and an optimal gut biome. You know,
one of the things that we've noticed in our clinical practice, and we've treated over 150,000
patients, and I don't have a specific peer-reviewed randomized clinical trial to prove this, but one
of the things that we have anecdotally noticed across our clinical practice is that we rarely
see people that have anxiety or anxiousness or suffer from mild or severe depression that do not also have
gut issues. The next time you run into a family or if you know somebody who has autism, ask that
family or ask that person if they also suffer from gut issues. You'll find that the majority of people
that report having anxiety or bouts of anxiety or symptoms of anxiety also report having disruption
in their gut. And they generally don't link these two. But the truth is that the majority of our
neurotransmitters that form the basis of every mood, every emotional state, these are created
in our gut. You know, 90% of the serotonin in our bodies is right here. And if you don't have it
here, you can't have it here. So very often, conditions of the
mind start in the gut. Modern medicine has a funny way of thinking that the brain is over here,
and the head is over here, and the body is over here, and somehow they're not connected. And
obviously, nothing could be further from the truth. You know, these neurotransmitters travel
up something called the vagus nerve. They enter the brain, and they create mood. They create an
emotional state. So if we don't have a healthy gut, there are so many symptoms that lead to this root cause that very often we end up chasing these spokes in the
wheel when you may only have one problem causing 10 issues rather than 10 problems causing 10
issues. I really invite you to join my gut challenge. It's absolutely free. There's going
to be all kinds of tips and tricks. I'm going to have MDs and other researchers
on to have a direct interaction with you at no cost to you to answer your questions, because I
think that you deserve to know how a healthy gut biome may be the root cause of the things that
you've been suffering from that you just have not related back to your gut. If you have any further
questions about anything I've mentioned today, join the gut challenge. It's absolutely free.
Read the gut challenge guide that I sent out.
You'll be able to ask me direct questions.
You'll be able to ask questions directly to the MDs and the gut health experts that I will have on this gut challenge.
Free for you guys.
My sincere hope is that this may awaken you or a loved one to the importance of your gut
and that something that you or a loved one is suffering from may not be the chronic condition that you think it is. It may just be related to poor gut health, and you may only be a few steps away from
an optimal gut biome and those things being a permanent thing of your past.
And that's just science.
