Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi, it's Terry O'Reilly. As you may know, we've been producing a lot of bonus episodes while under the influences on hiatus. They're called the Beatleology Interviews, where I talk to people who knew the Beatles, work with them, love them, and the authors who write about them. Well, the Beatleology Interviews have become a hit, so we are spinning it out to be a standalone podcast series. You've already heard conversations with people like actors Mark Hamill, Malcolm McDowell, and Beatles confidant Astrid Kershaw. But coming up, I talk to May Pang, who dated John Lennon in the mid-70s. I talk to double fantasy guitarist Earl Slick, Apple Records creative director John Kosh. I'll be talking to Jan Hayworth,
Starting point is 00:00:46 who designed the Sgt. Pepper album cover. Very cool. And I'll talk to singer Dion, who is one of only five people still alive who were on the Sgt. Pepper cover. And two of those people were Beatles. The stories they tell are amazing. So thank you for making this series such a success. And please, do me a favor, follow the Beatleology interviews on your podcast app. You don't even have to be a huge Beatles fan, you just have to love storytelling.
Starting point is 00:01:14 Subscribe now, and don't miss a single beat. Hello, everybody. It's Terry O'Reilly. First of all, Happy New Year. Here's to an even better 2023. Just wanted to let you know that Under the Influence will be back on CBC on January 5th. The podcast drops January 7th. And we have a very fun season prepared for you. I think you're going to like it. The first episode of this season is about how the Queen's death
Starting point is 00:01:53 affects marketing. Now, you may not think that her passing has anything to do with marketing, but the implications are numerous. And it's a very interesting episode. We'll also be doing an episode on church signs. As you may have noticed over the last 10 or 15 years, church signs have become very humorous and very amusing. They are, in fact, outreach ministries to try and attract congregations. It's a form of marketing. So we'll be looking at the history of witty church signs, and we'll talk about some of the funniest church signs we've seen. And I'll give you a little taste
Starting point is 00:02:31 of one more show we've got prepared for you. It's about help-wanted ads. So recruitment ads are one of the biggest advertising categories because companies are always looking for employees and staff. So we'll look at some of the most creative help-wanted ads from around the world. And in particular, we'll look at how the intelligence community attracts spies. How do they recruit spies? Well, the answer is they do it in very surprising ways. So we're glad to be back for 2023. We hope you'll tune in. See you January 5th. Cheers.
