Hey there, welcome to Wake Me Up and to this very short but sweet gratitude practice. You can do this in any way that you'd like. You can find a comfortable position and do it in a meditative style. You can do it in your bed.
Starting point is 00:00:37 You can do it at your desk while you're walking. Anything works. Let's begin by taking one deep breath together just to focus and center ourselves. So inhale, fill all the way up, hold at the top. And then exhale, release, nice and slow. Just let the air fall out. And if you'd like to close your eyes, you can do that now. Now let's begin with some gratitude for the self.
Starting point is 00:01:15 So just take a second and notice your body. Appreciate that your lungs are breathing. Your heart is beating. Your blood is flowing. Your muscles are working. All of this is happening without any effort, any conscious thought on your part. We put our bodies through so much. but no matter what, they work tirelessly to heal, to grow, to make this life possible and as good as it can be.
Starting point is 00:02:04 So take one second right now, just to thank your body for everything it has done and everything it will do. It's truly the greatest gift of life. Now let's turn to this day. Think of one thing that you're grateful for already about this day. and it doesn't matter if you just woke up or if it's late at night, there's always something to be grateful for. Even if it's just the sun rising or the pleasing, gentle patter of rain outside, maybe you got to see a friend who you really love spending time with.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Think of one person you're grateful for in your life. It can be anyone. Picture their face, smiling at you, and remember some of the wonderful memories you have with them. and some of the meaningful things that they've said to you. And just send a silent thank you out to that person for being a part of your life, for bringing you a bit of joy.
Starting point is 00:04:08 Now it's almost time to wrap up, but before we do, I'll give you about 15 or 20 seconds for you to come up with any other things that are going on in your life right now that you're grateful for. Our time is almost up. So let's take one more deep breath together
Starting point is 00:04:47 just to close out this practice. So inhale, filling up with all of the gratitude and appreciation that you just brought to mind. Hold at the top and exhale. And if you had your eyes closed, then you can go ahead and reopen them whenever you're ready. Well, I hope you enjoyed this very quick practice, and I hope it's helpful for you to shift your frame of thinking when you get caught in a negative thought pattern. Gratitude can be really powerful for that. And don't forget that I am so grateful that you chose to be here.
Starting point is 00:05:29 It always means a lot to have you. I hope to see you back here soon on Wake Me Up. And until next time, go out. Be grateful. And if you are, I promise you're going to have a fantastic day.
