Now, before our episode begins, here's a quick word from today's sponsors.
Hey there, and welcome to Wake Me Up.
I'm your host, Tyler, as always, and I'm so thrilled that you chose to be here today.
for this meditation that's designed to help you cultivate peace and contentment in your life.
In just about 10 minutes, I'm confident that you're going to feel more relaxed,
more at ease, more comfortable in your own skin, and wherever you find yourself in life.
So go ahead and find a comfortable position that you'd like to meditate in.
And if you are starting this episode from bed, you probably know that I recommend rolling over
and sitting up to meditate.
But the only reason I say that
is because I just don't want you to fall asleep
and show up late for work or school.
The truth is, you can meditate in any position
that works best for you and the space you're in.
So go ahead and find that position now.
And once you've settled in,
just take a nice deep breath,
fill all the way up through your chest and your belly.
Hold at the top.
and then exhale, release, and just slowly close your eyes.
Let's take two more nice, deep breaths together, just to continue settling in.
So inhale with me, all the way in, hold at the top, and then exhale, release.
Just let the air fall out.
And you'll find that when you do that, your exhale becomes a little bit of the little bit of the
longer than the inhale.
And that will cue your body
to slow down.
Again, inhale.
Even deeper.
Hold.
And then exhale,
release, and let go of any tension
you're holding onto.
And just begin to let everything go.
Relax the muscles of your face.
Drop your jaw and soften your shoulders down.
And just try to rest your attention.
on the breath.
Whatever pace,
whatever depth feels right to you.
What's most important
is that it feels easy,
natural,
smooth, effortless.
And at some point,
probably at many points,
your mind's going to wander off
to that thing you have to do later today,
that conversation you had yesterday,
And all of these little things we have going on in life all around us all the time.
That happens.
As it inevitably will, just acknowledge it and let it go.
Whatever you have going on in life, whatever's calling your attention, asking to distract you.
Just let it go.
Because most of the things that bother us and call for our attention are relatively short-lived.
They come and they go.
And even though they may seem like the biggest deal in the moment,
we often realize, in hindsight, they weren't that big of a deal at all.
So if there is something that's nagging at you, bothering you, causing you a bit of mental, internal tension,
one thing you can do to help with that is to just simply zing,
Zoom out on your life.
See the long arcs of what you're doing, the phases you're in, the relationships you're going through, and the farther you zoom out, the more and more you'll see that most of our problems are momentary.
And on the long timeline of life, being at peace with yourself, being comfortable and at ease with where you're in.
where you're at and what you're going through, that will bring you the most contentment,
simply accepting the present state of things, knowing that you can change it to a degree,
but you don't control every aspect.
There will be many highs, and there will be many lows too.
But most of the time will be spent somewhere in between.
And that's not such a bad place to be.
if we can simply learn the broader scale of life, to live in the moment.
But to see how that moment is part of a larger arc, we can find so much more peace, so much more ease,
so much more comfort with ourselves, our lives, and just living in our own skin.
So whatever may be nagging at you, bothering you, causing you a bit of mental tension,
maybe just try to look at it in this way, a momentary, passing bit of tension on a very long journey.
And somewhere down the road, what's most likely is that you'll look back at this issue, this tension,
and it'll make you smile.
maybe even make you laugh.
So just take one more moment here and appreciate this sense of ease that you've been able to create here and now.
Despite whatever's going on in your life, just enjoy that feeling.
Sense of peace or meditation.
So begin to bring yourself back.
Notice whatever's supporting you, whether that's a chair, the floor, or something else.
Notice any sounds going on around you and that feeling of the air on your skin.
Take one final deep breath in.
Hold at the top.
As you exhale, you can slowly open your eyes and just take a second to gather yourself.
Well, my friend, I hope you enjoyed this meditation and that you're feeling a deeper sense of peace and ease with where you are in life right now and whatever you're going through and dealing with.
Remember that this sense of calm, this feeling of comfort, being in your own skin is always possible,
no matter what's happening on the outside.
You can create this within yourself at any time.
So I do hope you come back here whenever you need it.
But that's all I've got for now.
Thanks so much for choosing to be here.
I always appreciate it when you are.
If you enjoyed this episode, then please take one second just to leave a comment or review.
and make sure that you're following the show
on whatever platform you use.
I hope to see you back here soon on Wake Me Up,
and until next time, go out and have an absolutely fantastic day.
