Today, I want to share a powerful truth that has the potential to transform. the way you approach your day and your entire life.
Starting point is 00:00:36 It's a simple yet profound concept. Doing less will actually propel you farther. In a world that often glorifies busyness and multitasking, I invite you to embrace the art of doing less, focusing your energy on fewer things, which as you'll see will actually help you accomplish far more. And that is exactly what this episode is designed to help you do. But first, let's take one moment to prepare the mind for the day.
Starting point is 00:01:15 Because a well-managed mind is one of the best things you can do for yourself and your experience of life. So let's begin by just taking two deep breaths together. Inhale with me. Fill all the way up. Hold at the top. And then exhale, just let the air fall back out. out. No need to force anything. Once more, inhale, even deeper this time, and then hold and release. Fantastic.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Now, in your mind, hone in on what's really important to you in life. The handful of things that really make your life enjoyable, that make it worth living. That might be your family. or a group of close friends. It might be your career. It might be a hobby. It might be simply being active or adventurous. It can be whatever you want it to be.
Starting point is 00:02:29 Because after all, it's your life. So what are those things for you? And consider, what if all of the other distractions and noise faded and you were able to. to simply focus on these aspects of your life. What would it look like to live that way? How would your life change? And how might it feel to live that way?
Starting point is 00:03:18 My friend, we often run ourselves thin, working so hard, chasing this and that. And the result is that we can't give enough of our energy to do anything properly. So what about focusing our limited time and energy on the things that are, the most important, and allowing those things to flourish. Well, my friend, you can start living that life today if you so choose. And I know that you do. That's why you came here. So let's take one more deep breath to energize for the day.
Starting point is 00:04:03 Inhale, fill all the way up, hold, and then exhale. And once all of that air has left your body, get up, get your morning started. Choose to be one of those people who lives life in their own unique way. Stop worrying about what everyone else wants you to do. And focus on those few things that are going to make your life better, happier, more fulfilling. And while you get your morning started, I'll show you how doing less is actually going to allow you to get more. And I want to start by explaining it through an analogy.
Starting point is 00:04:52 So imagine a light, like a light bulb in your own home. That light is dispersed in many directions. It becomes scattered, and that's useful when you're trying to light an entire room. However, contrast that with a beam of light from a flashlight or something like that. This light is concentrated. And when it's pointed at something, that light is much more powerful than a diffuse light. That beam of light, like a flashlight,
Starting point is 00:05:25 uses the same amount of energy, in certain cases even less. But its ability to brighten things is far greater. And our lives work very similarly. A lot of the time, we're living like that dispersed light, scattered in every direction, distractions abound. Our lives are oversaturated.
Starting point is 00:05:48 Everything is grabbing for our attention, and the result is that we can't give our full attention to anything. So what if we flipped the script? What if we focused our light on just a few things? Really gave our time and energy to them and brightened them with all of the power we have. What if we chose quality over quantity? You see, by honing in on a select few priorities, You give yourself the gift of focus. It fast-tracks you to become a master of your craft.
Starting point is 00:06:27 It naturally guides you down the path towards a more fulfilling life because you'll be doing the things that really bring you a sense of happiness. Consider the Japanese concept of Ikigai. It's the intersection of what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. Use this Venn diagram of sorts to identify those sweet spots in your life,
Starting point is 00:07:00 those pursuits that align with your passions and skills, those things that make your life and others' lives better. Pour your energy into these areas and watch as the depth of your commitment transforms into unparalleled success. My friend, when I say do less, I don't mean be lazy or avoid challenges. I mean be intentional about where you invest your time and your energy. Because the truth is, you only have one limited resource in life.
Starting point is 00:07:40 And it's time. So success is about managing that limited resource. It's about saying no to the superfluous things, so that you have sufficient room for the essential things. It's a conscious choice to excel at what you can, rather than to merely be average at everything. Today, I challenge you to declutter your life, identify your top priorities,
Starting point is 00:08:10 and commit to investing your energy and time into mastering them. I promise, if you do this, if you narrow your focus, you will climb far higher, far faster than you could have ever imagined. So as you navigate your day, remember that less is indeed more. Embrace the power of simplicity and watch as your focused efforts propel you towards greatness. My friend, the journey to success is not about doing everything. It's about doing the things that matter. to you.
Starting point is 00:08:52 Doing the right things with unwavering focus and determination. By doing less, I guarantee you will get more. Well, my friend, that's all for today.
Starting point is 00:09:13 I really hope you enjoyed this episode and that it's inspired you to declutter your life and to focus on what really matters the most. Thanks as always for choosing to be here on Wake Me Up. It means the world for me to have you here. If you enjoyed this episode,
