Hey there, welcome to Wake Me Up and to this very special meditation,
which is designed to help you notice and appreciate the beauty that surrounds you all the time.
Because the truth is, every second of life is beautiful, even the hard ones.
We just have to learn how to look for it.
We get so accustomed to the everyday things that are truly outstandingly beautiful.
But because we see them all the time, they grow mundane.
So what we'll do in this meditation is visualize going through a day in your life
and all of the little beautiful things that show up along the way.
So whether you're starting this from bed or you're up and about already,
find a comfortable position that you'd like to meditate in.
And it can be any position that works best for you, your body, and the space you're in.
And once you've found that position, take a nice,
deep breath, filling all the way up through your chest and into your belly. Hold and then exhale.
And as you let that air out, gently go ahead and close your eyes and settle into this meditative
state. I encourage you to open your mind and perceive the world as a child does with awe and wonder.
It's something that we all can do
because we've all done it before.
And maybe you can begin with
just bringing a sense of wonder
to the sensations of your body right now.
A feeling the expansion and contraction of your chest
as you breathe in and out
and really feeling that sense of relaxation
as you soften the muscles of your face
as you relax your jaw,
and as you release any tension from your shoulders, your back,
anywhere else in your body.
The simple fact that you're here existing,
sensing this complex world,
having thoughts that might even be nagging at your attention right now,
that is a truly beautiful existence.
So just try for the duration of this little meditation.
to bring that same sense of wonder, as if this is some grand exploration.
And you can begin that grand exploration simply by visualizing yourself.
Waking up at the start of any typical day, there you are in your bed, and the sun is rising.
There's soft light filtering through the window.
You can just begin to notice the beauty and the simplicity and ever presence of the sun's light,
the warmth that it brings, the different ways that it shades and lights the room, the way it flickers
as the leaves outside blow in the breeze.
And there's countless other things you might find beauty in here, just at the start of your own day,
the comfort of your own bed, the warmth of a blanket, the way in which you've intentionally,
or even unintentionally designed and laid out your room with things that hold meaning to you.
And then you can begin to just now move this visual forward through your day to the first time
you step outside.
and you see that blue color of the sky.
You see some clouds off in the distance.
You can just take a moment to appreciate the ever-changing canvas of the sky that's always above you,
even though you've seen clear days before and you've seen cloudy days before.
And all kinds of days in between, a canvas is never exactly the same.
And maybe here you notice other simple beauties, like a tree or a bird chirping.
And you can feel that sense of wonder.
And the idea that this existence that you have, which is so beautiful in and of itself,
is actually a shared existence with everything else around you.
And the uniqueness and the complexities that this weaves
in and out of your life.
And on the last stop of this visualization,
you can bring to mind the face of someone
who you might see during the course of your day.
Maybe that's a friend, a neighbor,
a partner, a child,
the barista at your favorite coffee shop,
or even a complete stranger,
and simply bring that person's,
face to mind. Notice the textures, the shimmering of that sunlight, and the way it shades
and curves their face. Notice the stories, the hopes, dreams, and fears behind their eyes,
and appreciate the beauty of this connection that you share with them. The beauty. The beauty of
beauty of shared existence. And if you'd like, you can send out a silent thank you to everything
and everyone that surrounds you or has played a role in your life. Because truly, your life wouldn't
be what it is without them. It's about time to wrap up. So you can begin to let go of that visual.
Bring yourself back here to the present moment, noticing whatever is supporting your body.
Any sounds going on in the room around you.
Maybe you want to bring some light, gentle movement back to your body.
And take one more final deep breath in, the deepest one you've taken yet today.
Hold at the top.
And then exhale, release.
And when you're ready, you can slowly open your eyes,
gather yourself and come out of that.
Well, my friend, I really hope you enjoyed this meditation
and that you're feeling lucky to be living this beautiful life that you have.
Remember, beauty isn't just about grand vistas or special occasions.
It's in all of the little things that we so often overlook.
It's in the steam that rises from your coffee.
It's in a kind word from a co-worker
Or the resilience of a little plant
That manages to grow through the crack in your sidewalk
By cultivating this perspective of childlike awe and wonder
Not only can we transform our daily routines
Into a gallery of beauty
But we can find joy, happiness, and fulfillment
In our everyday lives
So I hope you carry this perspective with you
not only today, but throughout the rest of your life.
But that's all for now.
If you enjoyed this episode, it would mean a lot
if you just took one second to leave a comment or a review
and let me know.
I always love to hear from you.
Now I hope to see you back here soon on Wake Me Up.
And until next time, go out and have an absolutely fantastic
Day.
