Now, before our episode begins, here's a quick word from today's sponsors.
Hey there, welcome to Wake Me Up and to this guided meditation that will help you stop comparing yourself to others.
My friend, nobody has your set of life circumstances, your views and experiences, and that's valuable.
The more you can lean into that, the happier, the more successful, and the more fulfilled you'll be.
So I want to encourage you to be the authentic, real you.
And this meditation will lead you through a visualization to help with that.
So go ahead and find a comfortable position that you'd like to meditate in.
It can be any position that works for you, your body, and the space you're in.
And once you've found that position, just allow yourself to settle in.
Mentally put to the side anything else that's on your mind.
Anything you have to do later, anything that was bothering you before this.
Now let's take a nice deep breath in.
fill all the way up through your chest and expand down into your belly hold and then exhale release
and gently close your eyes for this first moment just try to focus on relaxing give the weight of your
body into whatever supporting it send a wave of relaxation all the way from your head
to your toes, feeling every muscle, soften and melt as that wave passes by.
And as you continue, relaxing deeper and deeper down, visualize a path.
See in your mind the path of your life and see yourself on it.
And see who you were and where you were on this path.
yesterday and just try to observe. There's no need to pass judgments. We're just looking.
And then turn your gaze far ahead and see who you become. Where this path takes you
a month from now, a year from now, five years from now. Zoom out. Look all the way back
to the beginning of your path. Envision that cute, adorable little baby you. And notice that no one else's
path begins right here. Only yours. Look all the way to the end of your path. Notice the big peaks and
troughs along the way. The big twists and turns. Nobody shares each and every part of your path.
Many do cross your path at one time or another.
Some people may even walk alongside you for a time,
but they came from somewhere else,
and they're going somewhere else too.
If you look around,
you may see other people on their paths as well,
headed in different directions
or doing things that seem appealing.
Maybe you even pick up some ideas for your own life
by observing others on their path.
Although you can steer your path in that direction,
you won't end up exactly where they are
because your path is all the way over here,
and that's not something to be down about.
Who knows, if you head in that direction,
you may end up somewhere even better
than where you're observing this other person at.
up close where that person is.
It's not all it seems.
Through all of this observation,
only one thing remains true.
Your path is your own.
It goes only in your direction,
and you progress only at your own pace.
Now it's wonderful to share your path with others.
It's great to get directions,
and ideas, but you can't compare your path to theirs. It's just different. You started in different
places and you're going to different places. It's like comparing apples to oranges. The only
person to judge your progress against is that person right behind you on the path. You from yesterday
or you from a month or a year ago is your competition.
So take a moment here where you are right now on your own path.
Absorb where you are.
What's working for you?
What's working against you?
Where you're coming from and where you'd like to go.
Take a deep breath and release everything else.
All the comparison.
all of the need to be what others think you should or must be.
Just let go of it.
Relax into the freedom of your own path.
You can stop trying so hard.
We've already arrived where you're supposed to be today.
What's you're doing?
This life you're living.
It's never been done before.
You're paving a brand new path.
So enjoy that feeling for a moment before we wrap up.
It's about time to wrap up our meditation now.
So begin to bring yourself back.
Notice whatever supporting your body.
Notice the air on your skin and any sounds going on around you.
Take one final deep breath in.
The deepest breath you've taken yet today.
Hold at the top and exhale, release.
And whenever you're ready, you're ready, you're
You can open your eyes, gather yourself, and come out of that.
Well, my friend, I hope you enjoyed this meditation and that it's freed you from the chains
of comparison.
Remember, one of those little cues from this meditation, it's great to observe others,
see what they're up to and get ideas from them.
But saying, they're better than me, or I'm better than them, isn't helpful or accurate
for anyone.
Your only competition is who you were yesterday.
And the only person worth striving to be
is the version of you you dream of becoming.
But that's all I've got for today.
If you enjoyed this episode and you have one second before you go,
I would really appreciate it if you left a comment or review.
And do make sure that you're following, wake me up, wherever you listen.
I hope to see you back here soon.
and until next time, go out and have an absolutely fantastic day.
