In a world filled with hustle and bustle, conflict and distractions, It's easy to overlook one of the most powerful forces for health and happiness.
Starting point is 00:00:37 And that force is gratitude. This simple yet profound gratitude meditation will reshape your entire perspective and infuse your life with an immediate and enduring sense of happiness. It isn't just another exercise. It's designed to completely change your view of just about everything, from your own body and mind to the strangers around you, and the times you live in. I guarantee you will look at the world with more happiness,
Starting point is 00:01:07 acceptance, and appreciation 10 minutes from now. So let's go ahead and get started. Begin by finding a comfortable position that you'd like to meditate in. And if you're starting this from bed, I do recommend that you at least sit up, but that's only so you don't fall back asleep. You can meditate in whatever position is the most comfortable for you. And once you've found that position, take a deep breath in, nice and slow, filling all the way up through your chest and your belly.
Starting point is 00:01:45 Hold at the top. And then exhale, release, and slowly close your eyes. Mentally set aside anything else that you've got going on. You chose to be here. You're lucky enough to have this time for yourself. That's something to be grateful for. So put everything else away for now. And give yourself this time you deserve.
Starting point is 00:02:27 Now let's take two more deep breaths in, just to help settle ourselves. So inhale, fill all the way up, hold, and then exhale. Just let it all fall out. No need to force anything. One more, inhale, hold. as you fall back into your own natural breathing rhythm.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Why not start this gratitude practice by appreciating your lungs? The breath is the most constant thing we have in life. Your lungs are breathing and keeping you alive, even when you're not paying attention. And there's almost nothing else in life that works so hard, so diligently for us. So show your lungs some love right now. And right next to them, your heart.
Starting point is 00:03:57 It's always beating. Even when you're asleep, constantly working to help you achieve your goals, to experience life fully, and working with them is your mind. Full of thoughts and ideas. Creating, solving problems. The truth is your whole body
Starting point is 00:04:37 is constantly working for you. helping you see the world, helping you to feel love, happiness, the whole range of human emotions, and that's something really special. It's something to be truly grateful for. So right now, say to yourself, I am grateful for my body and my mind. Your body and your mind allow you to experience this thing called life, all of those good things, those memories that you just love looking back on. That's something to be grateful for too. Think back on a few of them right now. And we know life isn't always good. It's not always easy. There's plenty of things that are tough, that are hard, but those moments are worth appreciating too. Bad things are what make the good things feel good.
Starting point is 00:06:15 They're the challenges that allow us to grow and learn and see things in a new way. So right now, say to yourself, I am grateful for the entire experience of life. All of the good, all of the bad, and everything in between. You have a truly unique life. There's no one exactly like you. no one born in the exact place, in the exact time that you were, and that's really special. So right now, think of something about yourself that you deeply appreciate, that you're really grateful for, that you wouldn't trade for the world, and that can be a personality trait.
Starting point is 00:07:34 It can be a hobby or a pastime that you love, or a skill you've developed. works. Special thing you appreciate about yourself. It's just one of the many things that makes you unique and valuable. So say to yourself now, I am grateful to be me. Everyone has special things about them just like this. Think of one of your friends, an acquaintance, a family member, who has a special quality that you really appreciate, and send out a silent message. to them now. Simply saying, I appreciate you. Think of a stranger, someone that you don't really know, who, through some special quality like this, has brightened your day. It might be the barista who makes your coffee extra special in the morning, or the neighbor, who always makes sure to
Starting point is 00:09:31 wave and smile, and send them a silent message of appreciation now too. Say to, them, I am grateful for you. My friend, all of these things have come together in a unique way to bring you here now, to live your life in your shoes at this very moment. This time in the universe is special because you're here. For most of human history, you wouldn't have been able to do exactly what you're doing right now. Listening to a meditation made by someone who might be halfway across the world. So whether these times may seem like times of struggle or success, thriving or just barely surviving,
Starting point is 00:10:51 appreciate this unique time in humanity's history, that your life just so happens to fall in. You're here when so much is changing. There's so much opportunity at your fingertips. You have the ability to make a difference, and that's something to be grateful for. So repeat silently to yourself. I'm grateful to be here now with the ability to make a difference.
Starting point is 00:11:38 It's about time to wrap up our gratitude meditation. So I'll give you about 15 seconds before we close out, just to think of anything else going on in your, life right now that you appreciate. All right, my friend, it's time to wrap up now. So begin to bring yourself back. Notice whatever's supporting you, whether that's a chair, the floor, or something else. Notice the feeling of the air on your skin and any sounds going on around you. Take one final deep breath in. The deepest one you've taken yet today. Hold at the top and exhale, release. and whenever you're ready,
Starting point is 00:13:16 you can slowly open your eyes and come out of that. Well, my friend, I hope you enjoyed this meditation and that you're feeling full of gratitude and appreciation. Don't ever forget that I am grateful for you. It means the world that you choose to be here with me in the morning to get your day started. I wouldn't pick anyone else to join me.
