Now before our episode begins, here's a quick word from our sponsors.
Hey there, good morning and welcome to Wake Me Up. I'm your host, Tyler, as always, and I'm so.
so thrilled that you're here today for this meditation that will help clear and calm your mind
for the day ahead. No matter what you have going on today, whether you're expecting a really
great, fun day or a stressful one, you can nurture a positive and optimistic mindset that will
help you make the most of it. We'll do some very simple breathwork, and I'll leave open space
so that you have sufficient time to let your mind unwind.
So go ahead and find a comfortable position that you'd like to meditate in.
And if you're starting this episode from bed,
I do recommend that you at least roll over and make your way up to a seated position.
But that's simply so you don't fall back asleep.
Truthfully, you can meditate in any position.
So do what works best for you.
And once you've found that comfortable position,
Take a deep breath in.
Fill all the way up through your chest and your belly.
Hold.
And then exhale, release, and slowly close your eyes.
Mentally set aside anything else that's on your mind.
Whether it's thoughts about the past or the future, it doesn't matter right now.
This time is for you to clear and calm your own mind so that you can have a
a great day. So just allow everything else to fade away for now. It'll still be there when you're done.
And here's one really powerful tip. The state of the mind tends to follow the state of the body.
So if you relax your body, your mind will relax too. And a few things I find that help with this
are softening the muscles of the face, releasing the tongue from the roof of the mouth,
and softening the shoulders down.
Now let's take some deep breaths
to deliver oxygen to your body and your mind.
This is one of the best ways you can reset yourself.
So just follow my lead.
Inhale, fill all the way up.
Exhale, release.
Swing even deeper this time,
all the way through your chest and your belly.
Exhale, release.
Just let the air fall out on the exhale.
You don't need to force anything.
Each time deeper than the last.
Exhale, release.
Let's do two more of those.
Inhale all the way up.
One more sip of air.
Then exhale and release.
Beautiful.
Now just allow your breath
to return to its own
natural rhythm.
Whatever feels easy and smooth to you.
Do that.
And rest your attention
attention on the sensation of the breath. You'll notice that there's actually a lot of sensations,
the expansion of your ribs, how your diaphragm pulls down to open more room for your lungs.
And of course, the flow of air from your nose and your mouth, down your throat, into your lungs,
and all the way back out. Each breath, try to notice something new. But some of the
point, you're going to have thoughts bubble up. You probably already have, and that's perfectly
fine. It is expected. Try not to get frustrated when that does happen, because your mind is doing
exactly what it's supposed to do. Thinking. When we meditate, we're not trying to stop that stream of
thoughts. We're simply trying to observe that stream of thoughts. So when you notice those thoughts,
coming and going.
Try to take a step back from them.
Try not to engage.
Just let them come and go.
And as you do,
you might find that your mind grows quieter.
Those thoughts are a little more distant.
They're a little bit less disruptive.
And as you continue doing this,
your mind will go deeper and deeper within
to that place of calmness and tranquillity.
that lives within you all the time.
A moment or two before our meditation wraps up.
So just continue following your breath,
observing your thoughts,
and just letting them come and go,
not trying to control them.
It's almost time to wrap up our meditation.
So let's take two more deep breaths
to close out this practice.
Inhale, fill all the way up,
Hold at the top. Exhale, release.
Last one, deepest breath of the day. Inhale.
Hold. Take another sip of air.
And then exhale. Release.
Just let all of the air fall out.
Now begin to bring yourself back into the room.
Notice the support of the chair or the floor beneath you.
Any sounds going on around you.
The touch of the air on your skin.
Take one more deep breath.
to close this out.
So inhale, fill all the way up,
and exhale, release,
and slowly open your eyes.
Well, my friend, I hope your mind
is feeling clear and calm
after this meditation.
Whatever lies ahead of you,
I know that you have everything you need
to make the most of this day.
Now, you've just got to go out and do it.
Thanks for tuning in.
It always means a lot to have you here.
