Hey there and welcome to Wake Me Up.
My friend, a productive day requires you to focus on what matters.
and ignore everything else.
There's a lot of noise and distraction in our lives,
and there are plenty of so-called productivity hacks.
But the truth is, there aren't any hacks.
The key to a successful, productive day is simple,
and it hasn't changed.
Clear your mind, determine what's most important to spend your time on,
and then do that while ignoring all of the other stuff.
This meditation will help you clear your mind and focus your attention
so that you can make the most of this day.
Meditating is like sharpening your axe before you cut wood.
So go ahead and get comfortable in a position that you'd like to meditate in.
And if you're starting from bed, you'll know that I recommend you at least roll over and sit up.
But of course, do what works best for you,
your body and the space you're in.
And once you've found that position,
take a nice deep breath in,
fill all the way up through your chest and your belly,
hold at the top.
And then exhale, release.
And as you do, you can go ahead and gently close your eyes.
And as you take this first moment to settle in,
allow yourself to relax completely.
Let go.
Stop trying.
You are exactly where you need to be.
And this is the perfect way to spend your time if you want to maximize this day.
Our productivity usually suffers because we're trying to do too much.
We're pulled in too many directions.
But when we pause and slow down, we are naturally open to
and guided towards those things that were best aligned with in this moment.
So as you settle deeper and deeper down,
allowing your breath to just flow in and out effortlessly,
open your mind to the full realm of possibilities.
Consider that things don't have to be done exactly the way we plan or picture them.
Forcing things doesn't help.
with productivity. What does help is leaning in to what's working right now. So take a deep breath in,
and as you exhale, let go of the need for this day to unfold exactly as you plan it to. And now that
you have a clean slate from which to observe this upcoming day, consider what is most important to you
today. What would make this a productive day for you? Distill all of the opportunities you have
with this day into a few things that are most important for you to accomplish or move forward.
And with those few important things in mind, begin to envision yourself going about your day,
see yourself, carrying out this day productively.
in the way you define productivity.
See the smaller activities of daily living,
like brushing your teeth and eating,
as well as those things that you decided were most important to accomplish today.
Envision yourself moving smoothly, effortlessly, gracefully even,
from one thing to another.
moving through this day with ease, and envision how you'll calmly and easily eliminate or remove distractions
when they inevitably arise. And once you've reached the end of this day in your visualization,
see yourself proud, happy, and fulfilled at everything you've accomplished. Now that you've seen this
productive day.
And you've felt what it will feel like to make it happen.
You know that you can make it into the productive day you're hoping it will be.
So, whenever you're ready, begin to bring yourself back.
Notice whatever's supporting you, whether that's a chair, the floor, or something else.
Notice that feeling of the air on your skin.
And if you'd like, you can bring a little movement.
to the body.
Just to begin waking yourself back up, take one final deep breath in.
The deepest breath you've taken yet today.
Hold at the top and then exhale, release.
And you can go ahead and open your eyes and just take a second to come out of that
and gather yourself.
Well, my friend, you are fully prepared for a fantastic, productive day.
whatever that means to you.
And remember that productivity is about simplicity, ease, and openness.
Distilling what's most important and focusing on that.
Not forcing things and keeping the mind open to better opportunities or ways of doing things.
You are now fully prepared for a productive day.
So go out and make the most of it.
Thanks as always for tuning in.
You know I love to have you here.
If you enjoyed this episode,
that it would mean a lot if you took a second
just to leave a comment or review and let me know.
I hope to see you back here soon on Wake Me Up.
And until next time, go out
and have an absolutely fantastic day.
