Good evening and welcome to this very special sleep meditation episode of Wake Me Up. Many of you love my daytime meditations, and you ask for sleep meditations too. So consider this my gift to you. May it bring you a wonderful night of deep sleep. And in this sleep meditation, not only are we going to relax the body and the mind.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Also align our thoughts to see the world more positively, to see opportunity, hiding in plain sight. So just start by finding your favorite position in your bed. whatever that looks like for you. Make sure that all of the lights are off and you can fall asleep without having to worry about anything else. The day is done.
Starting point is 00:02:09 And you've chosen to take this time to relax, to rest, to recover. You deserve this time. So enjoy it as best as you can. We have so. So many things we're chasing in life and a list of to-do's.
Starting point is 00:02:48 But this is your time to put all of that aside. There's no more hard work to be done. You have earned this time to rest. So take a deep breath in. Fill all the way into your belly with gratitude for everything you just did in this day. Exhale slowly. releasing any worries or any concerns. Once more.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Inhale, filling up with appreciation. Exhale, releasing any niggling thoughts or worries. The most common reason that any of us struggles to fall asleep is because of a racing mind. And let me tell you, why that's actually a good thing, because the mind is meant to race. It's meant to solve your problems.
Starting point is 00:04:37 It's meant to think through things. If your mind is running, it means you want to be the best human that you can be. And you should be proud of that. But the state of the mind follows the state of the body. So if you want to relax your mind, one thing you can do is relax your body.
Starting point is 00:05:21 So let's take a little time right now to relax the body. And you can start at the top of your head, just softening every single one of those muscles. And then the muscles of your face, feel them softening. Release your jaw and your neck and your shoulders. Release your chest and your back.
Starting point is 00:06:48 Release your hips and your thudely. eyes, your legs, and your feet. And finally, release your arms and your hands. And take a big, slow inhale, collecting any tension, any tightness that's left in your body. And as you exhale, release that tension. And just feel your body melt into the bed. A few moments. just to breathe deeply at your own pace.
Starting point is 00:08:37 Mentally repeating the words, I am grateful as you inhale. And mentally saying the words, I surrender on the exhale. I am grateful, I surrender. All right. Hopefully, you're nice and relaxed and settled into bed now.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Let's go somewhere. Somewhere really wonderful. Somewhere by the water, by the waves. Somewhere you can be by yourself. Somewhere you can relax. Somewhere you can be safe. And somewhere no one's going to bother you. Imagine what that place looks like to you.
Starting point is 00:11:23 It can be any place you want it to be. Allow yourself to find a comfortable place here where you can rest. Any time that your mind wanders away, you can just bring it back here. As you continue resting here in this wonderful place, you begin to notice all of the little miracles going on around you. The simple fact that the sun shines, that's a miracle in and of itself.
Starting point is 00:12:58 The fact that you can breathe, can see, can hear my voice, can rest after a long day. Each of these is also a miracle. To end this wonderful place that you've taken yourself to, you begin to see that everything in your life is a miracle. the good things because they make you happy and they give you something to celebrate. The bad things too because they challenge you
Starting point is 00:14:14 and make you grow into a better person and you begin to realize that because there are miracles everywhere, there are opportunities everywhere too. Indeed, the opportunity to live the life The life that you dream of sits right in front of you. In plain sight, it may seem far off at times, but here and now you can see clearly the path that leads to that life. It's as though you have a map that directs you there, and all you need to do is follow it.
Starting point is 00:15:43 You know that the world on the ground is never exactly as it appears in the map. There's always unexpected turns and confusing signs. But it's often when we take those wrong turns that we find something remarkable, yet unexpected. And it's this journey, this searching, that is truly the gift you seek is the opportunity. is the opportunity you desire. You want to enjoy life every day, not just one day. So you appreciate that it is the journey you seek, not the destination. And you know that this journey has long begun.
Starting point is 00:17:24 You've been on it for many years, and tomorrow holds the next opportunity to continue on journey, this adventure of a lifetime. And because of that, you know that you will wake up happy, excited, full of energy, and grateful to keep moving along the path of your life. And no matter what actually happens tomorrow, you know that it is just part of this journey. And every step is to be appreciated. the hard days at work, and the long nights up thinking and wondering about the future, as well as those days of triumph and celebration. And those nights of deep, peaceful rest.
Starting point is 00:19:02 And so tomorrow, when you wake, after a beautiful night's sleep, open your eyes and look for the opportunities that await you. The miracles are there. All you have to do is open your eyes to them. And even if it's a bad day, you can come back here to this wonderful little place you have in your mind where you're safe. You're comfortable and you're free to be everything and anything you want to be. And you decide, having realized all of this, just to rest here, in this wonderful place, taking your time as much or as little time as your mind and body want to fall asleep. They know how to do it.
Starting point is 00:21:01 They are designed to sleep. And you will fall asleep on your own time and in your own way. And with that comes a sense of contentment. of acceptance. It's your content just to be here by yourself knowing that you are your own best company.
Starting point is 00:21:59 And on that note, I'll leave you here so that you can be by yourself, so that you can fall asleep whenever you are ready. Good night, sweet dreams. May you rest peacefully. May you rest peacefully.
Starting point is 00:22:35 You rest deeply, and may you awake in the morning, excited for another day of your very own life.
