Hello, my friend, and welcome to this guided mindfulness meditation that will help you become more present. develop your awareness of yourself and expand that awareness to the world around you. To start, find a comfortable position.
Starting point is 00:00:48 I recommend that you find a nice seated position, but truly, whatever works best for your body and the space you're in is perfectly fine. And once you've found that position, just allow your body a moment to settle into it. Initially, our bodies might resist that new position. So just take a nice deep breath. And as you exhale, let everything soften into this position. Now one more deep breath, filling all the way up into your chest, and then down into your belly.
Starting point is 00:01:53 Hold at the top. And then exhale. And if you haven't already, you can go ahead and close your eyes. And now that you've entered this internal world, bring your attention to the space just below your nose and just in front of your mouth. Rest your attention here and simply feel the sensation of the air passing across your nose and across your lips. As it moves in, breathing at whatever pace and depth, feels now. to you. What's most important is that it feels easy and effortless. And as you follow this breath in and out, you may find that you draw deeper and deeper inside of yourself. Your mind may wander
Starting point is 00:04:19 to this and that. And that's okay. As you draw deeper within, you can begin to be become more aware of your own internal state, starting with your physical state, simply noticing how the body feels and accepting whatever information arises in response to that, not trying to change it, not trying to assign a cause, or label it as good or bad, simply acknowledging that this is what you sense here and now. And once you've had that moment to take note of your physical state, you can begin to notice your mental or psychological state. Again, not trying to change it, not trying to blame it or assign a cause.
Starting point is 00:06:20 Just noticing how active your mind is at this moment. and the kinds of thoughts and feelings that are currently arising here and now. And once you've had this moment to take note of your mental or psychological state, you can begin to do the exact same process for the world just outside of your physical body. Envision a little bubble that. expands a few feet around you in all directions and begin to just notice and sense what's happening in this space.
Starting point is 00:07:47 What's the state of that space around you? Using all of your senses to collect any information that exists there, trying to change it or label it as good or bad, just noticing. how that space is here and now. Now that you've taken some time to notice the space around you. Enjoy just a moment here of peace and quiet before we wrap up. Take one more, nice deep breath in, hold at the top, and then exhale, release. And when you're ready, you can slowly gather yourself,
Starting point is 00:10:15 open your eyes and come out of that. Well, my friend, I hope you enjoyed this meditation practice. I encourage you to save this episode and come back routinely. Practicing this sense of awareness will allow you to not only become more in tune with yourself, but more in tune with the world around you. And you'll see that over time, your awareness of the self and the outer world, world. Expands remarkably. But that's all for now. Thanks so much for joining me. I hope to see you back here soon on Wake Me Up. And until next time, go out and have an absolutely fantastic day.
