Hey there, and welcome to Wake Me Up.
My friend, we all deserve love, kindness,
and patience, most of all from ourselves.
It can be hard to do that, though,
especially when we constantly feel pressure to do more and be more.
In this meditation, we will explore the transformative power
of reconnecting with your inner child
to cultivate greater kindness and patience towards yourself.
Just as a child deserves love, understanding, and compassion,
so do you.
and in about 10 minutes time, you are going to feel that very deeply.
So let's go ahead and get started.
Find a comfortable position that you'd like to meditate in.
I usually recommend that you meditate sitting up,
but that's simply so you don't fall asleep.
The truth is, you can meditate in any position that you find comfortable.
So do what works best for you, your body,
and the space you're in.
And once you've found that comfortable position,
take a deep breath in,
fill all the way up through your chest and your belly,
hold at the top,
and then exhale, release, and slowly close your eyes.
Let's take a couple more deep breaths
to help settle into a meditative state.
So inhale, hold at the top,
and then exhale, release,
Just let the air fall out.
There's no need to force anything here.
Again, inhale, even deeper this time.
Hold and exhale, release.
Wonderful.
Now you can let the breath return to its own natural pace and depth.
What's most important is that breath feels smooth and easy.
Relax the muscles of your face.
Soften your shoulders down and let your jaw drop, releasing your tongue from the roof of your mouth.
And in your mind, begin to visualize yourself as a child.
Picture that younger version of you, full of innocence, curiosity, and boundless energy.
See that child filled with all of the potential of a full life.
deserving of love, patience, and kindness.
No matter your age now, this child lives within you.
You are the same person, the same being, just at different points in time.
And just because you're older now, maybe you've made some mistakes, seen some things,
perhaps lost a bit of that innocence.
That doesn't mean you don't deserve.
the same love and respect and kindness. In fact, it's quite the opposite, actually. You deserve more
because you carry bigger burdens now. Visualize your younger self, that child version of you,
coming over and sitting down next to you. And they begin to tell you all of the reasons
that you deserve to be loved, understood, and appreciated,
and though they may be in the simple words of a child,
they hold wisdom and truth, love, kindness, patience.
These don't have to be complicated things,
and the child version of you asks whether you would be kind and patient with them,
most certainly you would.
because you understand them.
You know what gets them excited
and what troubles them.
And that child version of you responds by saying,
So why not be kind and patient with yourself?
After all, we are the same person.
And that child version of you looks up,
stares you right in the eyes,
smiles,
and gives you a big hug.
And just like that,
you feel kindness, patience, respect, and love from yourself.
You begin to understand how easy it really can be, how good it can feel, and why you do in fact
deserve it. With this visual in mind, I encourage you to repeat the following affirmations to
yourself. I am kind and patient with myself. I deserve love, understanding, and respect. I accept
myself exactly as I am. Fantastic. Take about 30 seconds here just to enjoy these feelings before we wrap up.
Well, it's about time to wrap up our meditation. So slowly begin to bring yourself back.
notice whatever's supporting you, whether it's a chair, the floor, or something else.
Notice any sounds going on around you and the feeling of the air on your skin.
Take one final deep breath in.
The deepest breath you've taken yet today.
And as you exhale, slowly open your eyes and just take a second to gather yourself.
Well, my friend, I hope you enjoyed this meditation.
and that it has your heart full of love for yourself,
because you certainly do deserve it.
Look, we all have flaws.
We've all made mistakes.
We've all done things that we wish we could change.
But that doesn't mean we don't deserve love.
That doesn't mean we don't deserve kindness and patience.
And we especially deserve that from ourselves.
Because no one understands you like you do.
So be your number one fan, your best friend, your biggest supporter.
Because there's one person who you are on this journey of life with the whole time.
Just one. And that's you.
So believe in yourself.
Treat yourself with the love and respect you would treat your best friend with.
And if you do, I'm sure you will find so much happiness and fulfillment from this
thing called life. But that's all I've got for now. Thanks so much for tuning in and joining me here.
It always means a lot to have you. If you enjoyed this episode, then please take a second to leave
a comment or review and let me know. I hope to see you back here soon on Wake Me Up. And until next time,
go out and have an absolutely fantastic day.
