Starting point is 00:00:28 Thanks so much for listening, and I hope you have a fantastic day. Hello, everyone, and welcome to wake me up. I'm Tyler, your host, and this is the podcast where morning people are made. In this episode, we've got a quick morning meditation to help frame your mind so that you start to see the good in things. Now, let's go ahead and get started. As usual, the first thing we want to do is make sure we're in a comfortable position for meditation. So go ahead and find a seat that you can sit in for five to ten minutes and feel nice
Starting point is 00:01:16 and comfortable and relaxed. If you're still in bed, take a deep breath, roll on over, climb out of bed, and just find somewhere where you can sit upright and relax. You can sit anywhere you'd like, but don't sit in your bed. If we're not comfortable while we meditate, then we'll be distracted. And that really defeats the purpose of it. Now, no matter what kind of days you've been having lately, whether they've been wonderful or terrible,
Starting point is 00:01:51 there's one thing that's constant. Your experience of your day is completely subjective. We live only on the inside of our bodies, and every bit of information we take in is filtered through our brain. So that means the difference between a good day and a bad day is purely a matter of perception. Every day has good and bad in it. So training our mind to look for the good stuff
Starting point is 00:02:22 means that on the whole, we'll have better days. Not because anything different is happening, but because we're viewing it with the lens of positivity. And today's meditation will help train your brain to do just that. So by now, hopefully you're in a nice comfortable, seat. And you're sitting upright, but you can allow your body to relax. You don't need to hold on to any tension. Take a deep breath in and fill your chest up completely. And then exhale, just letting it all fall out and gently close your eyes as you do that. Take one more deep breath
Starting point is 00:03:13 in and squeeze all of your muscles. And then as you exhale, just let it go and let everything sink and soften. Now we'll take a moment just to settle in here at first. And you can just rest your attention on those very smooth, very easy breaths.
