Starting point is 00:00:01 If you'd like to enjoy Wake Me Up completely ad-free and get access to exclusive bonus content, check out the link in the show notes for the Wake Me Up premium feed. Good morning, everybody, and welcome to Wake Me Up. The podcast, Where Morning People Are Made. I'm Tyler, your host. Now, I routinely remind you on this show that you are a special person, and you have so much to offer the world. I know how hard it can be to keep track of who you really are and who you're becoming
Starting point is 00:00:42 with all of the pressures that the outside world puts on you. I deal with the exact same thing all the time. None of us are immune to it. But I'm a strong believer in the idea that you should spend your time doing the things that truly matter to you, that you're genuinely interested in, and that bring you happiness and fulfillment. So today's meditation is designed precisely for that purpose. To help you remember who you are and what you truly care about in life.
Starting point is 00:01:24 All right. Now let's go ahead and get started. If you're joining us from bed, then take a deep breath in. And as you exhale, roll over and go ahead and make you make you feel. your way to standing up. Let's start with a big stretch. So wherever you are, whether you just got out of bed or if you've already started your day, take a big inhale and reach your hands all the way to the sky. Reach as far as you possibly can. And on your exhale, fold forward at the waist, and just let everything hang towards the ground, nice and easy. Remember to keep breathing here, even though you're
Starting point is 00:02:30 relaxing into this stretch. Now slowly begin to roll your way back up, all the way to standing. And when you get there, roll your shoulders up and down. All right. Now go ahead and find a seat to do your meditation in. And this can be anywhere in your home. Just don't do it in your bed. Today's meditation will help you keep in touch with the things and people you really care about in life, the ones that allow you to be yourself, without worrying whether you'll be judged or accepted. And hopefully, with a little reminder, you'll be able to focus more time and attention on those things and relationships. As a result, you'll be happier and more fulfilled on a day-to-day basis. So now that you've found a nice, comfortable seat, take a deep breath in, and as you exhale,
Starting point is 00:03:57 slowly close your eyes, let's take one more breath together. So inhale, collecting any tension or thoughts, and then release all of that on your exhale. And you can fall into a natural breath, whatever that pace feels like for you. While you're here, just let everything relax and soften down. And we'll just take the next moment or two to settle in. Okay, now that we're settled in, I want you to imagine a staircase. And this is the staircase that leads from the outside you. The one that the world sees. Two, the inside you. The one that only you know everything about. And you'll descend these stairs one by one in time with your breath. So you can see yourself doing that now, step by step, moving farther away from the version of you that you project to the outside
Starting point is 00:06:21 world and closer to the actual, the real, the true version of you. With each breath, you take another step down, going deeper and deeper. And then, having descended the staircase, you come to a closed door, and you know what lies behind this door. It's you. There's nothing to fear or hide from. The door wants you to open it. So you can see yourself for who you truly are. So you can see yourself doing the things that you love, the things that bring you joy and fulfillment no matter what. So you reach your arm out, and you open the door. Behind it,
Starting point is 00:07:51 you see visions and images of yourself doing the things you love the most. Notice what those things are, those activities that you seem to lose yourself in, that lead you to forget about time and to forget about your problems. See yourself doing them. finding joy and passion in each passing moment.
Starting point is 00:08:39 And with this reminder of what you truly love to do, promise to yourself here and now that you will pursue these things more. Remind yourself, I deserve to do the things that I love and enjoy. Having seen all that you need to see, behind this door, you close it, leaving those visions and images to their safe place and knowing you can always return here to see them again. And then, having closed the first door, you turn around to find that behind you, there is another closed door. And you have a feeling
Starting point is 00:10:05 of what's behind this one, too. It's the relationship. that you find value and meaning in, the person or people, that you can always be yourself with, without fear of judgment or acceptance, and you feel a desire to open that door and to see those relationships now. So that's what you do. You reach out a hand and open that door. to find images and visions of the people you can truly be yourself with. You see their unconditional love and acceptance of who you are.
Starting point is 00:11:10 And you see yourself offering the same to them in return. You see the smiles and happiness that this unconditional positive regard bring, both for you and. and for the others. And you see how surrounding yourself with these people allows you the freedom to be who you truly are. And with this reminder, you send a silent thank you to these people.
Starting point is 00:12:10 And you make a promise to yourself to cultivate these relationships and new ones like a moment. them more and more. Having seen all you need to see behind this door, you close it, leaving those visions and images to their safe place and knowing that you can always return here if you need or want a reminder. And now you can bring yourself back to your breath, just allowing those ideas to settle for a moment. All right, slowly begin to bring yourself back to the room, noticing the chair beneath you or any sounds you might hear, and then take a deep breath in
Starting point is 00:13:42 and on your exhale, slowly open your eyes, and just take a second now to gather yourself. So I hope that meditation helped to remind you of the most important pieces of you, those things and relationships that actually fulfill your needs, that actually provide value in your life, and that allow you to be yourself. We often spend so much time and effort trying to be what other people want us to be, fitting the mold our parents or our culture want for us. But your best life and your happiest life
Starting point is 00:14:38 will come when you stop trying to be what everyone else wants from you. And you start trying to be who you want to be. I want that for you. The world needs that from you. And I hope you want that too. So I encourage you to. to come back here and keep reminding yourself of that every day. Well, that's all I've got for today, friends.
Starting point is 00:15:12 Thanks so much for tuning in. I'll talk to you all soon. And until then, go out and have an absolutely fantastic day. I really hope you enjoyed this episode. A good morning is such a gift, isn't it? It's the key to a happier and more productive day and ultimately a better life. And that's why I make this show.
Starting point is 00:15:47 So if you're enjoying it, why not send one of your favorite episodes to a friend? You never know. You might just make their day and change their life.
