Hello, and welcome to Wake Me Up. This is the podcast where morning people are made.
And welcome to another meditation mini. These episodes are a bit different than the morning routine episodes of Wake Me Up. They're just guided meditations.
My hope is that these will deepen your meditation practice
and make the morning routine episodes more effective for you.

A great morning is a really wonderful gift to give to someone.

so you never miss a great day.
Now let's get started.
We're going to practice a classic meditation technique called mantra meditation.
It really couldn't be more simple.
In mantra meditation, you focus on a single word or phrase and repeat it over and over.
Now, I'll be honest, this wasn't my preferred way to meditate for a really long time.
I didn't see the point in it.
It kind of seemed boring to me.
But as I was exposed to it more,
the value and power of this style of meditation was undeniable.
It has this sort of channeling or focusing effect on you and your thoughts.
So you'll be repeating the mantra for quite some time,
and I encourage you to experience it from as many angles as possible while you do.
For example, say it out loud, and then try repeating it only mentally.
And notice whether that changes anything, whether your brain repeats it mentally in the same way that you say it out loud.
Notice the sound vibration, aside from any meaning in the words themselves, and how that sound affects you.
I think you'll come to find that there are a lot of thoughts we can have about a single word or phrase,
most of which we never really notice.
So go ahead and find a comfortable seat.
Of course, if you have a special place where you meditate, that's great.
But you don't have to.
Take a second to let your body settle into this position.
You can roll your shoulders if you'd like,
or open and close your hands a few times.
Take a deep breath in.
And as you exhale,
gently close your eyes.
Continue with those deep breaths at your own pace now.
Inhaling to fill your lungs completely.
Holding for a moment at the top.
And then exhaling gently.
Notice how that flow of air feels moving through your body.
Now, begin to repeat the words,
I am enough.
Of course, if you have another mantra
that you'd prefer, feel free to use that instead.
Try to find a steady, easy pace that works well for you
and allows you to maintain the repetition for some time.
I am enough.
I am enough.
If at any time you find that your thoughts have wandered,
just bring yourself back to repeating that mantra.
and just keep your mind on the mantra for a few more moments.
You can let go of the mantra.
And just take a deep breath in and then let it go.
Start to bring yourself back into this present moment.
Notice the chair beneath you and any sounds you can hear.
Gently wiggle your fingers and toes,
bringing a little movement back to the body.
And when you're ready, you can open your eyes.
a moment here to pause and collect yourself while I wrap things up. I hope you found that mantra
meditation enjoyable and helpful. One of the best things about it is that you can repeat literally
anything you want as a mantra. It should be positive because effectively what you're doing is
etching that saying into your thoughts, building a stronghold for it in your mind, if you will.
it's really great for relaxing yourself in a stressful moment by repeating something like
I am calm or retraining your brain to think more positively to accept yourself to love yourself
etc one thing I would encourage you to take special note of with mantras is any way in which
your mind tries to reject the mantra or limit it this is a sign of
constrained belief systems or negative thoughts, and it's worth exploring. I'll do more mantra meditations
in the future that will be designed for specific purposes, like self-love and confidence, and if you all
would like, we can do some more traditional mantras. And that's all for now. Thank you so much for
tuning in. Imagine what the world would be like if everyone started their day off positively like this.
You can help create that world with social sharing through reviews and recommendations to your friends.
And of course, don't forget to subscribe, so you never miss a great day.
I'll talk to you soon, and until then, I hope you have a wonderful day.
