Now before our episode begins, here's a quick word from our sponsors. Hey there, and welcome back to Wake Me Up. I'm your host Tyler, as always, and I'm so glad the you chose to be here today. It really means a lot to me to have your company. This week, we've been talking about the concept of discipline, and specifically how we can be disciplined with a loving and compassionate approach. Pushing ourselves to the point of burnout and punishing ourselves for mistakes is never going to be a healthy, happy way to reach our goals. We have to
Starting point is 00:00:57 allow ourselves room for error and time to transform in our own way. And that's what this idea of loving discipline is all about. Being okay with a couple of mistakes, laughing at yourself when you make them, learning how to set rules and boundaries that work for you that you can actually stick to so that you don't lapse into a cycle of shame and self-punishment. Today, we're back for a series of affirmations that will help seed these ideas a bit deeper in your mind. So if you're in bed, use this moment to roll over, make your way up and out of bed, and get your day started. The people who are the happiest and the most fulfilled, they're not the richest, they're not the smartest, they're not the strongest. They're the ones who choose every day to show up and live life in their own personal way.
Starting point is 00:01:59 And I commend you for showing the self-discipline to show up to be here and listen to this episode. You're already well on your way. And you can do these affirmations in any way that you'd like. You can simply listen along as you go through your morning routine. You can repeat them out loud or silently in your mind. And for the deepest experience, you can find a comfortable position, close your eyes, and settle into a meditative state. But no matter how you choose to do these affirmations,
Starting point is 00:02:38 let's begin by taking one deep breath. So inhale and fill all the way up, hold at the top, and then exhale and release. Just let the air fall back out. Wonderful. Now let's turn to our affirmations. I accept my mistake.
Starting point is 00:03:11 and learn from them. Through self-discipline, I can reach my goals. I choose to be compassionate in my approach to self-discipline. I prioritize my dreams and desires. I use discipline as a tool to better understand myself. I don't punish myself for mistakes. I find ways to enjoy hard work towards my goals. I am able to laugh at my own mishaps.
Starting point is 00:04:50 I choose to practice discipline in a loving way. I honor my journey and allow myself to transform at my own pace. I deserve to be treated with compassion and understanding. I always treat myself with honor and respect. All right, let's repeat all of those one more time. I accept my mistakes and learn from them. Through self-discipline, I can reach my goals. I choose to be compassionate in my approach to self-discipline.
Starting point is 00:06:45 I prioritize my dreams and desires. I use discipline as a tool to better understand myself. I don't punish myself for mistakes. I find ways to enjoy hard work towards my goals. I am able to laugh at my own mishaps. I choose to practice discipline. in a loving way. I honor my journey
Starting point is 00:08:22 and allow myself to transform at my own pace. I deserve to be treated with compassion and understanding. I always treat myself with honor and respect. All right, great. That's the end of our affirmations for today. Let's wrap up in the same way we started. So take a deep breath in.
Starting point is 00:09:22 fill all the way into your belly, hold at the top, and then exhale, release. If you had your eyes close, you can open them. Just take a second to gather yourself. Well, my friend, I hope you enjoyed those affirmations and all of our episodes this week on this idea of loving discipline. I encourage you to try putting it into practice. We've all got goals that we're working to.
Starting point is 00:10:01 towards, so pick one to focus on for purposes of training yourself discipline. And as you go along your journey towards that goal, allow yourself to make mistakes. Don't beat yourself up for them. Try to find a way to laugh at them and see them as a learning opportunity. Remember what we talked about yesterday. Discipline comes from the root word disciple, meaning to learn. This life is a journey of self-discovery. It's about learning who you are and how you work. Every success and every failure are equally good teachers about those things.
Starting point is 00:10:49 But that's all for today. Thanks so much for choosing to be here. Until next time, go out and have an absolutely fantastic day. Thanks for listening today.
