I'm your host Tyler, as always.
Starting point is 00:00:29 Thanks for tuning in today. As we talked about yesterday, nature heals us. Studies are beginning to show that nature-based visualization actually calms anxiety and helps with other common mental health issues too. And that's exactly what we'll be doing in today's meditation. It will even incorporate some soft, gentle nature sounds to help make the experience more immersive. So let's not waste any time this morning. Let's go ahead and dive in.
Starting point is 00:01:04 If you're still in bed, use this moment to roll over and make your way up and out of bed. And wherever you are, find a comfortable position that you'd like to meditate in. I always recommend that you meditate sitting up, and that's simply so you don't fall back asleep. I know we all have different spaces and different preferences, so do whatever works best for you. And once you've found that position, just allow yourself to settle for a moment. Mentally put aside anything else you were doing before and anything you've got to do after this meditation. It will be there waiting for you when you're done. You've chosen to take this time for yourself.
Starting point is 00:01:54 So do that and do it fully. Now take a deep breath in, filling your lungs all the way up. Hold at the top, and then exhale, release, and gently close your eyes. For this first moment of meditation, simply allow your body to relax into a new state, a softened state, an easy, comfortable state. And a few things that can help with this are relaxing the muscles of the face, dropping the jaw and releasing the tongue from the roof of the mouth.
Starting point is 00:02:58 And finally, softening the shoulders down, breathing easily at your own natural pace. And as you follow that rise and fall of your own breath, you'll find that you draw deeper and deeper within. All right. hopefully you're nice and settled now. So let's begin our nature visualization. And to do this, simply imagine in your mind a forest,
Starting point is 00:04:17 any forest that you would like, and I'll slowly begin to fade in some gentle sounds to help support that visualization. Imagine the trees, the shades of green and other colors, the breeze on your skin, and the sounds of all the little critters going on around you. Envision walking down a path here, feeling the ground beneath your feet,
Starting point is 00:05:23 that slightly different texture with each step. When you step on a rock, it's hard. When you step on dirt, it's softer, but still firm. And if you step on moss or mud, it's even softer. Wherever you find yourself in this forest, just look around and focus in on one tree in particular. Notice its finer details, its shape. Is it perfectly straight, perfectly symmetrical, or is it bent and curved, cragly, or leaning to one side.
Starting point is 00:06:43 Follow the lines of its bark. Is that bark rugged or smooth? And maybe you even imagine what that bark would feel like running your hand over it. Now take a look at the leaves on this tree. Move a little bit closer to inspect in more detail. What's their color? Are they all the same color?
Starting point is 00:07:30 We're slightly different. What's their shape and what's their texture? Are they smooth? Are they a little furry or a little waxy? Now take a step back from this tree that you've been inspecting and expand your view to look at the whole forest more broadly. What do you notice? Maybe you notice two birds across the way
Starting point is 00:08:33 having a little conversation with each other. Maybe you see that no two trees are exactly the same, and that no two plants have exactly the same shade of green leaves. And in many ways, that's just like you and me. We're all similar in some ways. But each with our own unique attributes, we all bring something inherently, individual to the world around us.
Starting point is 00:09:29 Now let's take three deep breaths. Feeling the air, soothe your lungs, and energize your body. So inhale, fill all the way up, hold at the top, and then exhale, release. Let all of that air fall back out. Once again, inhale, even deeper this time. hold at the top and then exhale, release. Once more, the deepest breath yet, inhale, hold at the top, and take an extra sip of air and then exhale, let all of that air go.
Starting point is 00:10:48 And you can begin to let that visual of the forest fade away and bring yourself back to where you are now. Feel whatever's supporting you. whether it's a chair or the floor or something else. Feel the air on your skin. Take one final deep breath in. And as you exhale, you can slowly open your eyes. All right.
Starting point is 00:11:33 So I hope you enjoyed that visualization and that it has you feeling a bit calmer, more connected to nature, get energized and excited for the day ahead. What we did in this meditation, simply taking time to notice the details of the world around us. It can have a profound effect on not only our mental state because we'll be more present, but also on how we perceive the world in general.
Starting point is 00:12:02 When you take time to notice little details, life unveils its profound beauty, revealing that even the tiniest fragments hold immerse significance to the intricate tapestry of our existence. And that's true for you too. You are the tiniest fraction of this life on earth. Just as a molecule in one of your cells is only a tiny fraction of you. But each is intricate to the existence and subsistence of the greater whole.
Starting point is 00:12:37 And I hope that you saw that in our nature visualization today. Keep it in mind as you go about your day and see if it doesn't make you look at life a little bit differently. That's all I've got for now. Until next time, go out and have an absolutely fantastic day.
