Hi friends, and welcome to Wake Me Up, a podcast where morning people are made. I'm your host, Tyler, as always, and I'm so glad to have you here. We're back today for a meditation that will help you find interest and joy in anything. Ample evidence supports the notion that we tend to excel in the things we find interesting and enjoyable. But we often get so bogged down in the hassles and struggles and to-dos that we miss the many intriguing miracles happening all the time. This meditation will help you notice those little miracles.
Starting point is 00:00:51 And we'll do that by getting interested in the things we often overlook. Our breath, our body, the air on our own. our skin. If you can find these simple, routine things interesting and enjoyable, then surely you can apply these principles to anything else. So let's get started. Find a comfortable seat anywhere in your home. Just don't sit in your bed. And once you've found that seat, take a second to get comfortable. You want to be sitting upright, but try not to hold onto any tension. Allow yourself to relax into this position. Take a deep breath in, filling all the way into your belly, and then exhale and slowly close
Starting point is 00:01:47 your eyes. Just settle in here to begin with. Allow your face to soften, drop your jaw, and release your tongue from the roof of your mouth. Soften your shoulders down and just follow the natural rise and fall of your breath. Now that you're settled in, keep your attention. on your breath, but focus on the air passing through your nose. Really try to hone in on the sensations you feel there.
Starting point is 00:03:13 What does it sound like? Can you feel the air as it moves past the tip of your nose, down the back of your throat, into your lungs, and all the way back out again? Notice the smallest sensation about your breath that you can. and appreciate how amazing an event this really is. You are here, a collection of matter, not only able to sense the air,
Starting point is 00:04:06 but to use it so that you can live, think, move, communicate, and try new things. It's a miracle in and of itself. All right, now you can let that go. Just give yourself a second to reset. And now, turn your attention to the air on your skin. Notice what that really feels like.
Starting point is 00:04:58 You can sense so much in this very simple interaction. Temperature. Whether the air is warm or cool on your skin, movement, you can feel the subtle shifting of the air around you. You can even sense humidity, whether the air is dry or wet, and appreciate how amazing that is. You have the ability to be.
Starting point is 00:05:43 to sense something that is nearly weightless, and you're always connected with it. It's always there to surround you. That is a miracle in and of itself. All right, you can let that go, and again, just give yourself a second to reset. Now finally, turn your attention to your body. Do a full scan from head to toe.
Starting point is 00:06:40 Notice your posture, how your body is built in a way to naturally support itself. Notice how your body is structured in a way that allows you to do so many things. Try to sense or notice something unique about your body right now and appreciate all of the wonderful things that your body does for you. It keeps you alive, mostly without you ever having to pay attention to it. It allows you to sense and experience the world. All right, now you can let everything go
Starting point is 00:07:59 and allow your mind to run freely for a moment before we wrap up. Okay, it's time to wrap up now. So begin to bring yourself back. Notice the chair or the floor, whatever's supporting you. Notice any sounds going on around you. And maybe you want to give your fingers and toes a little wiggle just to bring some movement back. Take one last big breath in, fill all the way into your belly,
Starting point is 00:09:34 and as you exhale, slowly open your eyes, and take a second to collect yourself. All right, so I hope that meditation has left you with a renewed sense of awe and joy, not only for yourself, but for everything else in the world. There are little miracles happening everywhere all the time. We simply must choose to look for them. I hope you do that today, because if you do, I'm sure it will bring you a smile and a lighter heart.
Starting point is 00:10:22 Well, that's all for now. I'll talk to you tomorrow for this week's motivation, and until then, go out and have an absolutely fantastic day.
