Hey there, everybody, and welcome to Wake Me Up.
I'm your host, Tyler, as always, and I'm so thrilled that you're here with me today.
This week, we've got such a wonderful theme, forgiveness,
and we'll be covering all of the various angles in which forgiveness can help us improve our lives,
forgiving ourselves, forgiving others for the wrongs they've caused us,
and asking others to forgive us for the wrongs we've caused them.
If you stick with all of these episodes this week,
I know you'll be feeling more lighthearted and free,
so I hope to see you each day.
Today, we'll be doing a meditation to help you forgive others
and seek forgiveness from others who you may have hurt.
But before we get started, I want to talk to you,
really quick about your sleep.
Sleep is such an important part of being healthy.
And so that's why I want to recommend another really great podcast to you.
It's called Calm History, and you can use it to relax with curious and insightful moments
from history.
Each episode is narrated in a calm voice to help you fall asleep or relax.
Some episodes that I find really interesting are the history of rubber.
Henry Ford, Marco Polo, Joan of Arc, and Jackie Robinson,
and the six-part special that reveals all of the mysteries of the Titanic.
So just search Calm History in your podcast player,
or follow the link in the show notes.
Now, back to our meditation.
Let's go ahead and get started.
Go ahead and find a comfortable position to do this meditation in.
And I recommend that you do it sitting up in a nice comfortable
chair or on your couch or on a pillow on the floor.
But of course, I recognize that we all have our own preferences.
So feel free to do this lying down or even walking if that's what you'd like.
The most important thing is that you try to get rid of any major distractions.
And once you've found that comfortable position,
just go ahead and settle in.
Do a quick scan of your body for any places where you're holding onto tension.
and consciously try to let go of that tension.
You don't need it right now.
Your body is supported and you're relaxed.
Now take a deep breath in, fill all the way into your belly,
and on your exhale, slowly close your eyes.
Continue settling in further and further here for this first moment.
Allow your face to soften.
Release your jaw and let you.
your shoulders drop down. Follow that natural rise and fall of your own breath. And as you do,
you'll find that you draw deeper and deeper. Now that you're nice and settled in, bring to mind
and remember the many ways that people have hurt or harmed you in life. That can be physically,
that can be emotionally. It can even be financially.
There are countless ways, and you don't need to remember them all now.
But just bring a few to mind.
Feel that sorrow.
Don't run away from it.
And acknowledge that you have been carrying this from your past.
Sometimes you may feel it more than others, but it's always there.
And recognize that you can release this burden of pain.
by extending forgiveness to these other people.
And you can extend that forgiveness whenever you're ready to give it.
And whoever of these people, you are ready to forgive.
Simply say these words to yourself now,
sending this message to them.
I remember the ways in which you've hurt me,
whether it was knowingly or unknowingly,
Maybe you did it out of fear, out of pain, out of confusion or anger.
But I choose to let go of this pain.
I no longer desire to carry the burden of this.
To the extent that I can and to the extent that I'm ready,
I offer my forgiveness.
As these words settle in your mind,
just imagine sending that forgiveness out
to the people who've harmed you
and you wish to forgive
and now you can let that image go
take a deep breath
and just reset
we're going to reverse the direction of that forgiveness
by seeking forgiveness for ourselves
so bring to mind
a few instances that you may have hurt someone
else. Maybe you did it knowingly. Maybe you did it unknowingly. You may not have intended to hurt them
at all, and that's okay. Sometimes pain is caused unintentionally, but as we all well know,
unintentionally caused pain still hurts. And so as you picture these people, these times that you've caused
harm. Feel that sense of sorrow. It's okay. Don't run away from it. It's important to feel that
sense of pain because it's that pain that we're trying to let go of. That's what we're trying to gain our
freedom from. See and feel the pain that you've caused to others and acknowledge your own sense of
sorrow and regret. Recognize that you can release this burden, and you can choose to do that right
now for any one of these people or instances that you'd like to be forgiven for by simply saying
the following, either in your mind or out loud. I have caused harm to many people in many ways,
both intentionally and unintentionally.
I've done it because of my own fear,
my own pain,
my own confusion,
and my own anger.
But now I'd like to be freed from that pain.
And so I ask for your forgiveness.
As you feel these words settling in,
send that request for forgiveness.
out into the world.
And know that in due time,
all things are forgiven.
You need not carry these burdens any longer.
So see them being released right now.
Feel that weight being removed from your shoulders,
from your mind,
from your heart.
Grant yourself permission,
both to give forgiveness,
and to receive it.
All right, you can let all of that go now
and just let your mind wander
for the last minute or so of our meditation.
All right, friends, it's about time
to wrap up our meditation now.
So begin to bring yourself back.
Notice whatever's supporting you.
Notice the air on your skin.
Notice any sounds going on around you.
Take one final, big breath in,
and on your exhale,
slowly open your eyes and collect yourself.
All right, so I hope you enjoyed that meditation
and that it's left you feeling refreshed,
free, and lighthearted.
We all deserve to be forgiven,
and that means we all deserve to give forgiveness as well.
We'll talk more throughout the week
about that sense of freedom
that comes after forgiveness.
So I hope to see you back here tomorrow,
We'll be doing some affirmations.
On Wednesday, we'll be doing our motivation episode.
And on Thursday, we'll be doing another meditation that will be a premium exclusive episode.
So I hope to see you back here for all of them.
And until then, go out and have a fantastic day.
