Hey there, and welcome to Wake Me Up. I'm your host, Tyler, as always, and I'm so excited to have you here today. This week's episodes are all based on a common theme of gratitude to celebrate my favorite holiday Thanksgiving. Today, we're going to be doing a very special gratitude meditation. It's a really powerful one, and I know you're going to love it. I've personally done this one before, and I can say it really hits that sweet spot.
Starting point is 00:00:47 So let's not waste another minute. Let's go ahead and jump right in. So find a comfortable position that you want to meditate in. As you probably know, I recommend meditating sitting up. And that's really just to make sure you don't fall asleep. But I know that we all have different preferences and different spaces to meditate in. So do whatever works best for you, whether that's laying down, standing up, or even walking. And once you've found that comfortable position, just let yourself settle in.
Starting point is 00:01:28 Try to keep your body supported, but let go of any tension. Take a deep breath in and on your exhale, slowly close your eyes. Use this first moment to help guide your body and your mind into a meditative state. The mind follows the body. So if you relax your body, your mind will do the same. and a few things that I like to do that help relax my body and mind are softening the face,
Starting point is 00:02:29 dropping the jaw, and releasing the shoulders down. And for now, you can just follow the natural rise and fall of your own breath. Rest your attention there and just follow that up and down, that natural cycle of your own body. And as you do,
Starting point is 00:03:06 you'll draw deeper and deeper within. All right, now that you're settled in, I'm going to lead you through a visualization, and you can start by visualizing yourself, sitting there or standing there, whatever you're doing right now. In your mind, picture yourself exactly where you are, doing exactly what you are.
Starting point is 00:04:29 And then fly away from wherever you are. This is a visualization, and you can make anything happen. So lift up and begin to fly away from wherever you are. Over the buildings, over the town or the city where you live, over the mountains and the oceans and the rivers, far, far away, where there's nothing that will bother you, nothing to worry about. As you're flying, you come to a forest where the air is crisp. The trees and the plants are green, healthy, and happy.
Starting point is 00:05:38 In the center of this forest is a beautiful clearing. And as you look closer at this clearing, You see a table, a very long table built for tens or even hundreds of people to sit at. And something about this table draws you nearer. So you begin to fly towards it. And as you get closer, you notice that there are people sitting around this table and you begin to recognize them. At this table are all of the people you know, you love, and you care about. It's a collection of all of your favorite people in the world.
Starting point is 00:07:06 And laid out on the table are all of your most favorite foods, drinks, desserts, and the seat at the head of the table is empty. And waiting for you so you lower yourself. down to the ground, you feel the soft, lush grass beneath your feet, and you take a seat at the head of this table. Everyone is thrilled that you're here, and you all begin to enjoy the feast that's laid out in front of you. And as you take part in this feast, with all of your favorite people, you know time is passing, but it doesn't feel that way. It feels that way. It feels frozen, as if you could stay here forever.
Starting point is 00:08:37 You soak in the joy of this moment, knowing that you have everything you need, knowing that you're surrounded by your favorite people in the world. And because you're so filled with joy, you decide to go around the table and tell every single person seated at it, something that you admire about them, You see their faces light up as you tell them.
Starting point is 00:09:29 You feel the appreciation in their thank yous. And for each and every one of those people, they return the sentiment. They tell you something that they value, something that they admire, something that they appreciate about you. Hear those words now. After you've gone all the way around this table, speaking individually to every single person, you retake your seat at the head of the table, and silently to yourself, you realize just how grateful you should be. You have everything you need in life.
Starting point is 00:11:02 You have people that you care about, people that care about you, and you have food to sustain yourself with. You're safe and you're cared for. And so you say silently to yourself in your mind, thank you. I'm grateful for everything that I have. We've got about a minute to go before we wrap up our meditation. So you can keep sitting at this lovely table if you'd like, or you can bring yourself back and just focus on the breath again for a moment. All right, friends, it's about time to wrap up our meditation. So begin to bring yourself back. Notice whatever's supporting you, whether it's a chair or the floor, or anything else.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Notice any sounds going on around you. Take a deep breath in, the deepest one you've taken yet. And on your exhale, slowly open your eyes. and just take a second to come out of that and gather yourself. All right, so I really hope you enjoyed that meditation. Again, this is one of my favorite visualizations that I've ever done. It just makes you feel really, really good. And I hope that's how you feel right now.
Starting point is 00:13:36 Before I sign off, I just want to let you know that I really appreciate you. You are one of those people seated at my giant table. I thank you for your presence here as a listener of this show. And I wish you all of the best things in life. Now, I'll talk to you soon. And until then, go out and have an absolutely fantastic day.
