Good morning and welcome to Wake Me Up.
I'm Tyler, your host, as always.
We all go through phases and changes.
We're not stagnant beings.
And we're not perfect either.
Sometimes, it can be hard to accept who you were in the past.
or even the phase you're in right now.
But with today's meditation,
you'll learn to love yourself.
Every version you have been, are, and will be.
And you'll accept yourself wholeheartedly,
despite your flaws.
Before we begin, let's all take one deep breath together.
So inhale and fill all the way up.
Hold your breath at the top.
And then exhale.
If you're in bed, now's a great time to roll over and get this day started.
So now that we're all up, go ahead and find a comfortable seat anywhere in your home will do, just not in your bed.
Today's meditation will incorporate a visualization.
First, we'll go back in time to a past version of ourselves.
So as you find your seat, think back on a time in your life that was a bit of a struggle.
Maybe you regret some decisions you made at that time, or you experienced something that still bothers you today.
Don't shy away from the tough moments of your past.
It's only through introspection and facing who we are that we can grow.
After accepting that past version of yourself, we'll move to the present and do the same thing.
Now, this meditation can be an extremely powerful one if you're willing to go into it fully.
So I encourage you to do that.
There's nothing to fear.
It's just you after all.
So, hopefully you're in a comfortable seat now.
And do you want to be sitting upright and supported?
But try to relax.
Don't hold on to any tension.
Take a big breath in and on your exhale, slowly close your eyes.
Take this first moment just to settle in.
Allow your face to relax.
Drop your jaw.
and your shoulders.
And just follow that natural rhythm of your breath.
As you do,
it will slowly draw you deeper and deeper within.
Now that you're settled in,
turn back the clock.
Go back in time.
And envision in your mind, yourself,
at an earlier point in life.
And at this point in life,
maybe you were going through something.
Perhaps it's a time from your past that still causes you some discomfort.
And that's okay.
Don't run away from it.
See yourself there in your mind.
See what your life was like back then.
What were you doing with your time?
Who were the people that surrounded you?
What were the excitements and the issues you had back then?
Try to understand how this version of you,
got here. That is, what were the forces that led you to this point of life? What choices did you make?
And even what choices were forced upon you? That caused you to be the version of yourself
that you were back then. When you look at this version of yourself, isn't it fair to say that
you were just doing the best you could with the knowledge and resources you had at the time?
You didn't have all the answers.
So naturally, you made mistakes.
And that's not your fault.
You had to learn somehow.
In your mind, look at that version of you.
Look them in the eyes.
See that this is just you.
Still evolving.
Still learning.
Still growing.
And silently tell them
that you're proud of them, that you accept them unconditionally, tell them that you don't blame them
for whatever mistakes they may have made or whatever bad things came their way. You know they were
just doing the best they could and promise them that you will keep trying, keep growing, keep improving
on yourself so that the future is better. You can let all of that image.
go and in its place, bring to mind an image of yourself in the present. See the current version
of you. See what your life is like. What are you doing with your time? Who are the people
that surround you? What are the excitements and the issues you face? Try to understand how this
version of you got here. That is, what were the forces that? That's the forces that
that led you to this point in life.
What choices did you make and what choices were forced upon you that caused you to be the
version of yourself that you are now?
When you look at this version of yourself, isn't it fair to say that you're just doing
the best you can with the knowledge and the resources you have?
You don't know all the answers.
So naturally, you make some mistakes.
And that's not your fault.
You have to learn somehow.
In your mind, look at this current version of you.
Look them in the eyes and see that this is just you.
Still evolving, still learning, still growing, and silently.
Tell them that you're proud of them, that you accept them unconditionally.
Tell them that you don't blame them for whatever mistakes they make.
You know they're just doing the best they can
and promise them that you will keep trying,
keep growing, keep improving on yourself
so that the future is better.
Now let all of that imagery fade away.
Come back to your breath for just a moment or so
before we wrap up.
It's time to close out our meditation.
So begin to bring yourself back.
Feel your feet on the floor.
Notice the chair beneath you.
And maybe give your fingers and toes just a little wiggle.
Take one final big breath in and on your exhale,
open your eyes and collect yourself.
So I hope you found that meditation heartwarming.
You may even feel like there's a huge weight off your shoulders.
I know I sure did the first time I did a meditation like this.
Self-acceptance is something we all struggle with at times, and that's totally normal.
We expect the best out of ourselves, but we're not perfect.
So, naturally, we can't meet the mark all of the time.
But that doesn't mean you're not worthy of being accepted.
It doesn't mean you don't deserve kindness and unconditional love, especially from yourself.
Well, that's all for this episode.
Thanks to Garry for requesting it.
You can always send me a note if you have an episode request.
