Hey friends, and welcome to Wake Me Up.
I'm your host, Tyler, as always, and I'm so grateful that you're here today.
We're back for a meditation on this week's theme, getting through tough times.
You see, we all have hard days.
We all wake up and just want to stay in bed.
because we fear what's to come.
But we've all made it through tough days before,
and we'll do it today too.
The breathing technique in this meditation
will help reduce any anxiety or stress you feel,
and breathing like this has been shown to slow the heart rate,
reduce blood pressure, and instill a sense of calm.
It will put you at ease
and remind you of your inherent strength and power as an individual.
Afterwards, I know you'll feel confident in your ability to get through this day.
Don't forget that you can always listen to Wake Me Up ad-free by joining the Wake Me Up Premium

But without any further ado, let's go ahead and start our meditation.
So go ahead and find a comfortable position anywhere in your home.
I recommend that you sit up and you choose a spot that's not your bed.
But I recognize we all have different constraints and different preferences, so you do what's
best for you.
And once you've found that comfortable position, just allow your
yourself to settle in. Take a deep breath, fill all the way up, and on your exhale, slowly close
your eyes. For this first moment at the beginning, just get settled. Allow your face to soften,
allow your jaw to drop down, and relax your shoulders. Follow that rise and fall of your breath
and allow it to take you deeper and deeper. Now that you're settled in, let's turn to our breathing.
We're going to breathe in for four counts, hold for four counts, and exhale for eight counts.
I'll guide you through that the first four or five times, and after that, you should have the rhythm nice and settled in, and I'll let you go by yourself.
So let's begin.
Inhale, one, two, three, four.
Hold, one, two, three, three, four.
exhale one two three four five six seven eight inhale one two three four hold one two three four exhale one two three four exhale one two three four five six seven eight inhale inhale one
two, three, four. Hold. One, two, three, four. And exhale. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Inhale, one, two, two, three, four. Exhale. One, two, three, four. Exhale. One, two, three, three, four. Exhale. One, one, two, three, three,
three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
Inhale and keep going at that same pace,
counting to yourself and just maintaining that steady rhythm of breath.
Right, so we're about halfway through now.
Keep that steady pace of breath going.
In for four, hold for four, and out for eight.
If your mind wanders, that's okay.
Just bring yourself back,
and start that same counting and breathing rhythm again.
And as you keep breathing and going deeper and deeper into a meditative state,
you can just listen to my voice.
Allow these words to sink in.
You are strong.
You are capable.
You have made it through tough things before,
and you will do it many times over again.
You can overcome any obstacle.
You can overcome any obstacle.
rise above any setback. Going through those again, you are strong, you are capable. You have made it
through tough things before, and you will do it many times over again. You can overcome any obstacle.
You can rise above any setback. All right, now you can let go of all of that. Breathe naturally
at whatever pace feels good to you. And just let your mind go for the
this last moment. Wherever it wants, just let your thoughts unwind before we wrap up.
All right, it's about time to wrap up our meditation now. So begin to bring yourself back.
Notice whatever's supporting you, whether it's a chair, a couch, or the floor. Notice any sounds
going on in the room. Take a deep breath in, filling all the way up, and on your exhale,
slowly open your eyes, and just take a second to gathers.
yourself. All right, so I hope you are feeling more relaxed and at ease. Remember that you can get
through anything. You've made it through every obstacle of life so far. Whatever stands in your
way right now, I know you'll get past it too. If you know someone going through tough times
or struggling to get out of bed, then do something nice and send them this meditation and a word
of support. Those kinds of small gestures mean a ton. You may be the catalyst for them to have a better
day today. And that's a really great gift to share. I'll be back tomorrow with our motivational
episode on this week's theme. And until then, go out and have a fantastic day.
