Hey there, and welcome to Wake Me Up.
I'm your host, Tyler, as always, and I'm so glad that you're here today.
We're back for a meditation on this week's theme of impermanence.
Friends, everything in life is temporary.
The good, the bad, and everything in between.
In this meditation, we'll use that concept
to create some distance between ourselves and our thoughts
so that we can be more balanced and stable-minded
regardless of the times we find ourselves in.
This kind of meditation practice can drastically improve stress and anxiety
and provides a sense of stoicism
and acceptance of life and all its happenings.

or you can subscribe directly in Apple Podcasts,
if that's how you'd like to do it.
If premium isn't for you, that's totally fine, I understand,
and I appreciate your support just by listening.
So, without further ado, let's jump right in.
I recommend that you sit up and that you do so anywhere but in your bed.
But I recognize that we all have different spaces and different preferences.
So whatever position works best for you, feel free to do that.
The most important thing is that the body doesn't serve as a distraction.
And once you find that comfortable position, just allow yourself to settle in for a moment.
Put anything that was on your mind away for the time being.
you can come back to it in just five to ten minutes.
It'll be there whenever you're done.
Take a deep breath in and fill all the way into your belly.
And on your exhale, slowly close your eyes.
Take this first moment just to get settled in.
Relax your face, drop your jaw, and soften your shoulders down.
And simply follow that natural rise and fall of your own breath.
Whatever pace feels smooth,
and effortless to you.
And as you follow that breath,
you'll find that you draw deeper and deeper within.
All right, now that you're settled in and following your breath,
notice that each breath you take is temporary.
The inhale only lasts a few seconds,
and so does the exhale.
Notice also how each breath is a little bit different.
Some are deeper, some are shallower, some are longer, and some are shorter.
Some breaths in life feel extremely relieving, while others may feel like a struggle.
But whether a breath is painful or pleasurable, it is keeping you alive.
And that is something to appreciate.
So regardless of the nature of any breath you take, try to accept each,
for what it is. Simply another breath. As you continue to follow your breath, you'll certainly have
some thoughts arise. And that's completely expected. Perhaps you even went down a long rabbit hole with
one of them. But even for those longer lasting thoughts, notice that they too are only temporary.
Like the breath, thoughts are impermanent. Regardless of how long they stay,
and how they make us feel.
So try to accept each one for what it is.
Just another thought.
Just another firing of the neurons in your mind.
Notice also that you are a bigger existence than any of your breaths and any of your thoughts.
You last far longer than them.
And the same is true of the times you find yourself in right now.
Maybe you're in a high moment in life.
Maybe you're not.
Maybe you're on a high moment in human society.
Maybe you're not.
For all of these things, it's usually hard to tell in the moment,
and it's only in hindsight that we can see things more clearly.
Either way, you will outlast this point in life.
You will have many ups and downs.
So try to accept each.
moment for what it is. Just another piece of life, which in due time will come to pass.
We've got about one minute to go before we need to wrap up our meditation. So just let your
mind run freely. Let it go wherever it wants. All right, it's about time to wrap up our meditation
now. So begin to bring yourself back. Notice whatever's supporting you, whether that's a chair or a
couch or the floor.
Feel the air on your skin and notice any sounds going on in the room around you.
Take one final breath in, the deepest one yet, and on your exhale, slowly open your eyes
and just gather yourself.
All right, so I hope you enjoyed that meditation, that it has you feeling relaxed and at ease.
If you ever find yourself caught up in the moment, stressed out, or feeling stuck,
you can always come back here to this meditation
and relocate that space you've just found.
That feeling of stoicism.
Knowing that all things good and bad and in between
will come to pass in due time.
And on that point, this day too will come to pass.
So don't let it slip by.
Go make the most of it.
I'll talk to you tomorrow for our motivation on this
week's theme. And until then, I hope you go out and have a fantastic day.
