Now before our episode begins, here's a quick word from our sponsors. Hey friend, and welcome to Wake Me Up. This week, we're talking about self-worth. and today I've got a really lovely meditation for you that will help you release thoughts and feelings of unworthiness.
Starting point is 00:00:38 By the end of this meditation, I'm confident that you will feel more whole. You'll believe in yourself and your abilities. So let's get started. Go ahead and find a comfortable position that you like to meditate in. If you've been here before, you know that I recommend you meditate sitting up. and that's simply because you don't want to lie down and fall asleep.
Starting point is 00:01:05 But I know we all have different preferences and different spaces. So do whatever works best for you. Once you've found that position, just allow yourself to settle in. Notice any areas of your body where you're holding onto tension and consciously release those muscles. Now take a deep breath in, fill all the way up, and as you exhale, slowly close your eyes.
Starting point is 00:01:58 Continue settling in here for this first moment or so. The visualization we're going to do in this meditation will be more impactful if you have a relaxed mind. And the state of the mind follows the state of the body. So to relax your mind, you can simply start by relaxing the body. And here's a few things I find helpful for that. You can start by softening your face, just letting go of all of those facial muscles. Drop your jaw and let your tongue drop to the bottom of your mouth.
Starting point is 00:03:00 Finally, take an inhale, and as you exhale, soften your shoulders down. And for the rest of this first moment of settling in, Just follow the natural rise and fall of your own breath. All right. Now that you're settled in, let's begin our visualization. Feelings of unworthiness often feel like continuously trying to float in water when things are pulling you beneath the surface. You may have moments throughout the day where you're confident and floating easily.
Starting point is 00:04:21 And at other times, it may seem really hard to stay afloat. In this visualization, connect with that idea of staying afloat and feeling those feelings of high self-esteem. And you can start simply by imagining a beautiful body of water in front of you. Any body of water that you'd like to float in works perfectly fine. Step into the water and feel yourself naturally start to float on its surface. Allow yourself to rest without effort. The water fully supports you. And notice all of the sensations that come with floating here.
Starting point is 00:05:32 The cool touch of the water on your skin, the feeling of small ripples passing by, and the sounds of the water. And as you rest here, notice any thoughts that come up, especially those thoughts that are negative about you, self-doubts. When one of those negative thoughts comes up, envision it as a weight, something tying you down, trying to pull you underwater. It's as though you have to work against this thought, this weight to keep yourself afloat.
Starting point is 00:06:46 Try to follow that thought to its root. Notice where it originally came from if you can. One thing is for sure. It didn't come from you. Someone else tied this weight, this thought to you. Someone who, for whatever reason, wanted to bring you down and keep you from being everything you can be. You don't need this negative idea.
Starting point is 00:07:35 It doesn't serve you. And now that you can see it clearly, and you can see how it's holding you down, take this moment to cut it loose. Free yourself physically from its weight. And as you do that, feel how you are now able to float again freely without any effort.
Starting point is 00:08:13 If any more negative thoughts about yourself come up, Repeat this same process. Notice the thought. Find its root. Cut it loose and release yourself from its weight. As you slowly notice these thoughts and release them one by one, feel yourself becoming lighter and lighter. Each breath is easier.
Starting point is 00:09:22 Each moment of being alive is more. joyful, more simple. Now that you're free from these self-doubts, we've got about 30 seconds to go before we wrap up. So allow yourself to keep floating here, enjoying the freedom and the lightheartedness of your own self-worth. It's time to wrap up now. So begin to bring yourself back to your physical surroundings. Notice whatever's supporting you, whether it's a chair or the floor, or something else.
Starting point is 00:10:51 Notice the air on your skin and any sounds going on around you. Take one final deep breath in. And as you exhale, slowly open your eyes and collect yourself. All right, my friend, I hope you enjoyed that meditation and that you're feeling a little bit freer now. a little more confident and full of self-worth. I hope you notice that throughout the rest of the day, your thoughts are naturally kinder and less judgmental towards yourself. If you feel that tension, that weight,
Starting point is 00:11:55 remember that you can come here and you can let go of those negative thoughts. The more you charge your mind with thoughts that support your abilities, and your worth, the more you will put yourself in situations to show that you are worthy and you are deserving. Well, we've run out of time. So that's all for this meditation. I'll be back here tomorrow for a series of positive affirmations on this same theme. I hope to see you there. And until then, go out and have a fantastic day.
