Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Wake Me Up,
the podcast, where morning people are made.
I'm your host, Tyler.
Now, you know that I'm all about believing in yourself,
believing that you have something valuable to offer,
believing that your dreams are worthy and within reach.
So much about our self-perception is determined by how we talk to ourselves.
You know, that little voice in the back of your head.
If you talk yourself down, then you'd better believe
you're going to feel down.
If you talk yourself up,
then you'll feel confident and sure of yourself.
And the best part is,
this little voice in the back of your mind
is trainable.
So today, we'll do a very simple meditation
specifically designed to encourage this kind
of positive self-talk.
Before we get started,
I want to give a big shout out to Jennifer,
who just joined the Wake Me Up Patreon
community. Thanks so much, Jennifer, for your support of the show. All right, now let's get started.
If you're joining us from bed, then take a deep breath and on your exhale, roll over,
and go ahead and stand up. It's a fantastic time to get a fantastic day started. And before we
sit down for our meditation, let's take a really quick stretch. So stand up and reach your
hands as far as you can to the sky. Reach all the way out of your shoulders. And then on your next
exhale, fold forward at the waist and just let everything hang towards the ground, nice and easy.
All right, now slowly begin to roll all the way back up to standing. And when you get there,
roll your shoulders up, back, and down. All right, so go ahead and find a comfortable seat.
And that can be anywhere in your home. Just don't sit in bed.
Today, we're going to do something really simple.
And again, it's designed to help train that little voice in your head
to be more supportive and encouraging.
We'll simply repeat the mantra, I can, I will.
And by doing this over and over,
a positive belief in your own abilities,
in your own worth, will become ingrained in your mind.
So by now you should be in a comfortable seat,
And let's just take a deep breath in.
And as you exhale, close your eyes.
Let's take another deep breath in together, collecting any tension or thoughts.
And then on your exhale, just let all of that go.
You can breathe at your own pace now.
Allow yourself to relax.
Let your face soften.
And your shoulders drop down.
And just follow that rise and fall of your own natural.
breath for a moment while we settle in.
All right, now that you're settled in,
begin to mentally repeat the mantra,
I can, I will.
As you inhale, think, I can.
And as you exhale, think, I will.
I can, I will.
And just stay with your own natural breath,
repeating that mantra.
And remember, at some point, your mind may wander off.
And that's perfectly okay.
It's totally normal and expected.
When you notice that's happened,
simply return to the mantra.
I can.
I will.
Okay, we'll go for about one more minute here.
So just stick with that mantra,
returning to it whenever you get distracted.
I can.
I will.
Okay, now you can let go of the mantra
and slowly begin to bring yourself back to the room,
noticing the chair beneath you.
Or any sounds you might hear,
you can wiggle your fingers and toes,
and then take a deep breath in,
and as you exhale,
open your eyes,
and just collect yourself.
So I encourage you to come back and repeat this meditation a couple more times
because the repetition of this positive mindset is crucial to ingrain it in your way of thinking.
That little voice in the back of your mind is fed by all kinds of things.
Everything you hear, your parents and your upbringing, your friends, the content you consume,
and even comments you read on social media.
And while it's important to still hear negative feedback about ourselves,
we don't want to feed that into our own mindset and our own self-perception.
Yes, we've all got faults and we all make mistakes,
but that doesn't mean you shouldn't believe in yourself,
that you shouldn't believe in your abilities
and your own potential to change and improve your life.
so make sure you're feeding that voice with supportive ideas
because you deserve love and support,
especially from yourself.
Well, that's all I've got for today, friends.
Thank you so much for tuning in and joining me here.
