Hi there, and welcome to Wake Me Up, the podcast where morning people are made. I'm Tyler, and I'm so glad to have you here this morning. Throughout life, we all have different pressures put upon us,
Starting point is 00:00:42 by our jobs, our family, our friends, our society, and even ourselves. Was there ever a time where a pressure that was on you suddenly was released? Do you remember how great that felt? What if we went through every day like that? released from all of the pressure, all of the expectations. How good would that feel? Well, today's meditation is designed for exactly that purpose. So, let's get right to it.
Starting point is 00:01:24 Whether you're joining from bed or you're up and about already. Let's all pause and take a big breath in. Hold it for a moment at the top, and then exhale. If you are still in bed, then go ahead and roll over and make your way to standing up. There's a wonderful day full of opportunity lying ahead of you. And trust me when I say that after this meditation, you're going to feel free and excited to accomplish everything you hope for. So don't waste another moment lying around in bed.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Now that we're all standing, let's quickly prepare our body. bodies for meditation with a quick stretch. And we'll do one that you all will know well by this point. So stand up straight. Take a big inhale and reach your hands to the sky. Reach all the way out of your shoulders as far as you possibly can. And on your exhale, fold forward at your waist. Let everything hang towards the ground.
Starting point is 00:02:53 And just relax for a moment here. You can sit still or sway. from side to side. Take turns bending one knee and then the other. Do whatever you'd like. This time is for you. All right, now slowly begin to roll all the way back up to standing. And once you get there, roll your shoulders up and down.
Starting point is 00:03:31 All right. So hopefully your body is nice and relaxed now. Let's find a seat and get started with our meditation. Today's meditation uses simple rhythmic breathing. combined with a visualization to guide us through releasing all of the pressures and expectations put upon us. Here's what you'll do. You'll breathe in and imagine the various pressures you have, collecting with the breath. And then as you exhale, you'll release them, seeing them leave your body and freeing yourself of that weight and that burden. So by now, hopefully you've found a comfortable seat that you can meditate in.
Starting point is 00:04:31 And make sure you're sitting upright, but try not to hold on to any tension. Allow yourself to relax. Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, close your eyes. Take this first moment just to settle in. Let your face soften, let your jaw relax, and let your shoulders settle down. you can breathe at your own pace for now, and just follow your breath for this first moment or so, allowing it to draw you deeper and deeper within. Okay, now that you're settled in, I'll begin to guide you through this breath and visualization.
Starting point is 00:06:02 So just follow my lead. We'll begin by inhaling, filling deeply into your belly. hold it for a second and then exhale let it all go again inhale and this time visualize the air collecting inside of you pause at the top and then exhale visualizing the air leaving your body releasing it to the outside world okay inhale again and this time visualize a pressure and expectation that you want to get rid of collect it with the breath and then hold the breath at the top bawling up that pressure
Starting point is 00:07:02 and then exhale releasing the pressure from your body just see it floating away let's do that again inhale collecting the pressure hold at the top bawling it all up and then exhale releasing it
Starting point is 00:07:29 send it floating away into the outside world inhale this time collecting another pressure that you want to be free from. Hold it and ball it up and then exhale, release it. Again, inhale, collecting that pressure, that expectation, hold it and ball it up, and then exhale, release it, send it far, far away. All right, now you've got it. So keep going on your own. Collecting pressures from all kinds of sources, your work, your parents, society, whatever you may be feeling pressure from.
Starting point is 00:08:36 Collect it, ball it up with the breath, and then release it. Maybe your mind is collecting all different kinds of pressures. Or maybe you're focused on a particular one that's really been bugging you. It doesn't matter. Focus on whatever you need right now. As you keep breathing, collect. Ding pressure and releasing it. Maybe you notice yourself feeling a little less stressed.
Starting point is 00:10:06 Maybe you release some of that tension from your face. Or your shoulders. Maybe you feel a bit lighter. A bit happier. A bit freer. Keep going with a few more breaths. And then we'll wrap up. Let's do our last breath together.
Starting point is 00:10:59 So inhale. collecting any last bits of pressure you feel. Hold it at the top, ball it up, and then exhale, releasing it for good. Wonderful. Now begin to bring yourself back to the room. Notice the chair beneath you. Feel your feet on the floor. Maybe give your fingers and toes a little wiggle.
Starting point is 00:11:46 Let's take one final breath together. So inhale, and as you exhale, open your eyes and just take a second to gather yourself. Well, my friend, I hope you're feeling a bit freer and more in control after that meditation. Though you can't always choose whether outside forces will place pressure or expectations on you, you do always get to choose whether you allow them to affect you.
Starting point is 00:12:31 You always have that choice. You don't need to spend your life trying to appease what everyone else wants from you. Of course, you can appease others if that's what you want to do. But I hope you consider whether that's what you really want in every situation.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Because your life is yours alone. So I encourage you to release whatever might be keeping you from what it is that you really want. And simply do whatever makes you the happiest. Well, that's all for this episode. Thank you so much for tuning in
