Hey there, and welcome back to Wake Me Up.
As always, I'm Tyler, your host, and I'm so glad that you're here.
This week, we're talking about rejection and how we can reframe it as something positive,
a way to see new opportunities in life.
Overcoming rejection is really important
because it can be a difficult and painful experience.
It can hold us back
by causing feelings of inadequacy,
worthlessness, and low self-esteem.
By overcoming rejection,
we can learn to let go of negative emotions
and beliefs about ourselves
and move forward in a positive and healthy way.
This can help us maintain our mental and emotional
well-being, as well as pave the path for our future successes and achievements.
As we discussed yesterday, rejection is just redirection.
A no to one thing is a yes to another.
And I know I've said this a thousand times before, but I'll say it again.
You can do anything in life, but you can't do everything.
So in that sense, rejection is helpful.
It saves us time and energy, but the things that do serve us.
Now, in today's meditation, we're going to be practicing a tool that you can use any time you feel rejected.
It will help you to reframe that rejection as a redirection, as a yes to a new and better opportunity.
So let's dive right in.
Go ahead and find a comfortable position anywhere you'd like to meditate.
As you probably know, I recommend that you meditate sitting up,
but you can do this in any way that works best for you.
And once you've found that position,
just take about 10, 15 seconds to settle in,
let go of any tension you're holding on to,
and allow yourself to relax.
You've chosen to take this time to do this meditation.
So just mentally, put everything else to the side for now.
It'll be there when you're done.
Take a deep breath in, fill all the way up, and as you exhale, close your eyes.
Now typically when we close our eyes, it's really common to have a bunch of thoughts start popping up.
That's okay.
That's perfectly normal.
Your mind will follow the state of your body.
So to help your mind relax, allow your body to relax.
and a few things that can help with that
are softening your face,
releasing those muscles,
dropping your jaw,
and relaxing your shoulders down.
And as you settle in,
just follow that rise and fall of your breath.
When you do that,
you'll slowly draw deeper and deeper within.
All right, now that you're nice and settled in,
we're going to start with a positive visual.
What we're going to do in this meditation is bathe our rejection in a positive light.
So the first thing we'll do is create that positive light.
And you can do that by imagining yourself in a peaceful, serene place, anywhere you'd like to go.
Maybe it's a meadow that you played in when you were a kid.
Maybe it's a secluded tropical beach
Or a peaceful forest
Maybe it's your own front porch
Wherever it is
Allow yourself to settle into this place
There's nothing here that's going to bother you
Or cause concern
So envision peaceful surroundings
And there's a warm, cozy light
It's that kind of light where you almost feel a sense of love and acceptance to it,
that warmth that you want to dive deeper into.
And as you continue, relaxing in this peaceful place that you've created,
feel that warm light surrounding you, this warmth, this light, it's always there.
It never leaves you because it is your light.
your own light shining everywhere you go. And as you continue relaxing in this peaceful place
where there's nothing to bother you, and that warm light is filling you up, bring to mind a
situation in which you're facing rejection, either now or sometime in the past. Maybe it's a job you
applied for and didn't get.
Maybe it's a relationship that didn't work out.
It can be anything.
And as you see that situation,
notice any feelings or emotions that come up,
that bubble to the surface.
Don't try to push them away.
It's perfectly fine to feel upset or disappointed.
But when those things come up,
focus on the light.
shine that light on those emotions, on those feelings, on that rejection itself.
Imagine yourself handling that rejection with grace and poise, knowing that you're strong
and capable of moving forward, even in the face of rejection, turning that no into a yes
that's something even better.
Then let that rejection,
and as it does,
notice how that warm light
and that peaceful,
serene place,
they're still there.
They haven't gone anywhere
because they are within you.
They're in your own heart,
they're in your own mind.
And as long as you believe in yourself,
as long as you do,
trust in yourself.
You know that this light will keep shining.
Anywhere you want to shine it, and there's no person or thing that can ever turn off your
light.
All right.
Now you can let all of those visuals go and just let your mind wander for this last
30 seconds or so before we wrap up.
All right.
It's about time to wrap up our meditation.
So begin to bring yourself back.
Notice any sounds going on in the room and the air on your skin.
Feel the support of whatever you're resting on.
Whether it's a chair, the floor, or anything else.
Take a deep breath in, the deepest one yet.
And as you exhale, slowly open your eyes and gather yourself.
Okay, so I hope you enjoyed that meditation and that it's helped you remember
your innate ability of resilience.
My friend, you are exactly where you need to be.
Every no you receive is meant for you
because it means you're meant for a yes to something else.
So don't get beat down whenever you face rejection.
Come back to this meditation, reuse this tool,
and remember your light.
You can shine it anywhere and everywhere.
and there's nobody that can stop you.
Well, that's all for today.
Tomorrow we'll be back for a series of positive affirmations
that will help top off the idea of reframing rejection.
So I hope to see you back here tomorrow,
and until then, go out and have an absolutely fantastic day.
