Now before our episode begins, here's a quick word from our sponsors.
Hey there, good morning and welcome to Wake Me Up. I'm your host Tyler as always, and I'm thrilled that you're here to.
day because I'll be guiding you through a mindfulness practice that you can use every day.
It's designed to help you cultivate self-awareness and gain insight into your physical,
mental, and emotional states. By setting aside this brief moment each day, you'll have the
opportunity to check in with yourself, understand your thoughts and feelings, identify areas
of stress or tension, or places where you may want to make changes. So let's go ahead and
begin. Start by finding a comfortable position and if you're still in bed I do recommend that you
at least roll over and sit up. But that's simply so you don't fall back asleep. The truth is,
you can do this in any way you'd like. You can be sitting in a meditative position or you can do it
while going for a walk or on your commute. It really doesn't matter. But wherever you are, let's take
a couple of deep breaths to help settle in. So inhale, fill all of you.
way up through your chest and your belly, hold, and then exhale, release.
Once more, inhale, filling up even deeper this time, hold, and exhale, release.
And if you'd like to close your eyes for this, now's a good time to do that.
And we'll begin this mindfulness practice by checking in on our physical state with a body scan.
So bring your awareness to your body.
And starting from the top of your head, slowly moving down.
Notice whatever you're feeling in each area of your body.
And as you do this scan, here's a few thoughts for you to keep in mind.
Do you notice any discomfort or areas of tension?
Are there any pleasant sensations?
Whatever you notice, simply acknowledge what you feel in your body
without a need to judge or label or assign a cause.
We're here to observe and to take note.
I'll give you a little time to do that now.
So now that we've checked in on the body, let's turn to our thoughts.
Again, without any need for judgment or labeling or finding a cause,
simply take one minute to observe what's happening in your mind.
What thoughts are coming up?
Are there any specific thoughts or patterns that are recurrence?
and just allow them to arise without trying to change or suppress anything.
Again, we're just here to take note and observe.
We're collecting information.
And as you do this over time, you'll begin to notice trends.
You'll begin to see how some days your thoughts are a little bit clearer,
while other days they're a little bit messier.
And that's fine.
What's useful is knowing that.
Fantastic.
Now that you've had a moment to observe your thoughts, let's check in on our emotional state.
And again, I'll give you about one minute to notice any emotions you're feeling right now.
It's quite possible that there may be more than one emotion that's present,
perhaps even conflicting ones.
That's totally normal.
As we did with thoughts and the body, just take notice.
There's no need to judge or suppress anything.
Collect information.
You're doing great.
Let's take a moment to look forward.
So reflect on the day that lies ahead.
At least what you're expecting from it.
Consider what's in your plans,
the things you're looking forward to,
the things you might rather avoid,
and the many more things that fall somewhere in between.
What would you like to accomplish today?
and when you're lying in bed tonight,
what would make you feel like this was a good day?
Great.
Now, let's take a moment to set an intention for the day ahead.
And that can be any intention you'd like.
There's no rules or rhyme or reason.
Just consider what you can do to make this day meaningful and fulfilling to you.
And try to set an intention around that.
It can be as simple as relax or focus.
Or it can be something a little more complex,
like remaining calm when times are hard.
So take a moment now to set that intention for yourself.
Fantastic.
Well, we've got one more step to do here.
And that's to finish with a moment of gratitude.
So simply appreciate this opportunity.
opportunity to check in with yourself, to gain some self-awareness, and to make positive changes
in your life. Appreciate your body. No one's works perfectly, but they do so much for us. Appreciate your
mind. It is so smart, such a good problem solver when used properly. Appreciate your relationships.
the love, support, and community that they offer
and appreciate that you have the opportunity of this life.
It's something we too often take for granted.
Let's finish up with a nice deep breath.
So inhale, fill all the way up, hold at the top.
And then exhale, release.
Just let the air fall back out.
And if you had your eyes closed,
then now's a good time to open.
them when you're ready. Well, my friend, I hope you enjoyed today's check-in, and I hope to see you
back here tomorrow. The value in this practice is the repetition. By coming back every day,
you'll begin to see recurring patterns in each of these areas of the check-in. And over time,
you'll develop a really deep sense of self-awareness. You'll start to see things that are causing
routine problems in your life. And on the flip side, things that are routinely positive.
This will help you make important changes to yourself and to the choices you're making in life.
And that will help you make the most of this journey. Thanks so much for tuning in.

a fantastic day.
