Good morning, welcome to Wake Me Up and to this bit of morning motivation.
This week, we've been talking about creating a great day every day.
It's a wonderful goal to aspire to, but it may seem out of reach on a daily basis.
after all, we don't control everything that happens.
But with a simple mindset shift,
we can consistently create great days,
no matter what the world throws at us.
And that's what today's episode will help you do.
So wherever you are,
and whatever you're doing,
just pause for a moment.
Bring to mind something that almost always puts you into a good mood.
Maybe it's a hobby or an activity.
Maybe it's spending time with a certain person.
For me, it's playing some music.
But whatever it is for you, visualize that for a second.
See yourself doing it.
Being happy.
Being completely focused and absorbed in it.
See how it enhances your mood.
Now take a deep breath in, filling with appreciation.
Hold it at the top.
and then release nice and easy.
Once more now, deep breath in, filling all the way up,
hold it at the top and exhale.
All right, feel free to go about your morning now.
Make your coffee or tea.
Have a stretch.
Go for a walk.
Whatever you like to do.
And while you're doing that,
I'll talk about some simple mindset shifts
that can help you turn every day into a great day.
You see, if we think back, our best days aren't necessarily the days that something great or exciting happened, such as a celebration or a career success.
Usually, they are the days when we feel really good about ourselves.
Those days we grew mentally, physically, and even spiritually.
Days when we connect with someone.
Days when we help someone.
Days when we try something new.
where we challenge and push ourselves,
the days when we do our favorite activities.
If these are the things that consistently create great days,
then our focus should be on building them into our daily routine.
We don't need a promotion at work every day,
a birthday party or a big event to make life feel deeply fulfilling.
It's the daily process of doing what we love,
the culmination of those little things that put us in a good mood
that make us feel like we are truly experiencing life.
But this goes against our natural inclination, doesn't it?
Typically, we want to focus on big goals because they're noteworthy.
There's something to add to our personal resume.
And that's not to say we should ignore big accomplishments altogether.
But if we want happiness daily, then we can't expect.
to get that from big accomplishments.
Because big accomplishments don't happen every day.
They wouldn't be that notable if they did.
So how do we create happiness on a daily basis?
Well, by building a daily routine
that prioritizes the things that encourage us to grow mentally,
physically and spiritually,
prioritizing those things that make us feel connected
and truly living life.
This means setting aside time for those activities and people who truly make you feel alive.
Getting some exercise, playing your musical instrument, painting, whatever it is for you.
And not doing it with any specific goal in mind all the time, but simply for the pure pleasure it brings.
Having deep conversations with people you care about.
Trying new things.
exploring new places.
Consider how you can build some of these
into your daily habits and routines.
And here's a little trick that I'll offer.
Try to schedule something before the day begins,
before the world has a chance to throw you off track.
And here's the best part.
By building a routine and habits that reward happiness this day,
you will inevitably find yourself moving more quickly
and effectively towards your long-term goals.
Because when we're happy, we're more productive,
we're more energized, we're more alive.
We reach farther and we love harder.
Those things compound when they're nourished on a daily basis.
So by focusing on the day-to-day,
we actually do better in the long-term.
You'll get to look up in a year or two
and find you've accomplished much more than you ever knew was possible.
The other mindset nugget to offer here
that will help you create a great day every day
is living each day like it's your last.
And it doesn't need to be some sort of grandiose shift.
Think about it like this.
If today was your last day,
you'd deal with problems and annoyances much differently, wouldn't you?
You probably wouldn't get frustrated
if you messed up playing your favorite sport
because you'd be playing just for the love of the game.
You wouldn't be worried as much about popularity
because you'd care only about spending time
with the most important people in your life.
You'd find creative and inventive ways to have fun
and make the most of every moment
using the opportunities you've got right now.
Now let's finish up with some affirmations
to help these ideas sink in.
So repeat after me,
I create a great day every day.
I make every moment matter.
I am grateful to be alive.
I welcome each day with love and appreciation.
I prioritize the things that make me happy.
I make time for my favorite things and people every day.
I don't let problems and annoyances affect me.
I do things purely for the enjoyment they bring.
I seek deep and meaningful connections.
Today and every day, I am blessed.
I'm open to what the day brings.
Today is a chance to live my best life.
I am exactly where I should be.
I create my future with confidence.
Today could be the best day of my life.
I appreciate the little things that make each day special.
I attract great things and great people.
Nothing can stop me from enjoying this day.
I make each day better and better.
I will create a great day today.
My friend, I hope that today and every day
you prioritize those things that make you happy,
that make you feel like you are truly living life
because you deserve to live the best life you possibly can.
And it's up to you to make sure that happens.
That's all for now.
I hope you enjoyed this motivational bit.
I'll talk to you next week, and until then, go out, prioritize yourself, and create an absolutely fantastic day.
