Now before our episode begins, here's a quick word from our sponsors. Hey there, good morning and welcome back to Wake Me Up. I'm your host, Tyler, as always. so thankful that you're here today. My friend, we all know that life is unpredictable, chaotic even. One second, you think you know exactly where you're going, and the next, the rug is yanked out from under your feet.
Starting point is 00:00:47 Sometimes we find ourselves wondering what happened, and like we can never catch a break. Things just refuse to line up like they're supposed to. How are we supposed to keep direction, peace of mind, and clarity in a world that seems devoid of stillness? Well, the answer is much more straightforward than you might think, and it's easily accessible, because the answer is inside of you. And this week, that's what we'll be working on, finding peace within when there is chaos all around. and one of the most important aspects of this skill set is staying present. So let's put that into practice now before we dive into this episode.
Starting point is 00:01:39 Just take a moment to pause. Really allow yourself to slow down and focus on where you are and what you're doing right now. I'll get out of the way for a second so you can do that. Inhale and hone in on that sensation of air entering your lungs. hold and then exhale and release any thoughts that are grabbing for your attention. You don't have to give them your energy. You can just allow them to float away. Once again, inhale, hold, and then exhale, release.
Starting point is 00:02:46 Hopefully, you're already feeling a little bit more directed, more centered, more focused. Now, you can go ahead and carry on with your morning, doing whatever it is that you like to do. And while you do, I'll dive deeper on this idea of finding peace in a chaotic world. There's no doubt about it. The world can be a stressful place. It's easy to feel like you just can't keep your head above water. I don't know about you, but I often find myself saying, I'll be able to relax when, fill in the blank.
Starting point is 00:03:32 Ease and clarity of mind can sometimes feel conditional. We might not feel at peace or content because our job is so demanding. Or maybe our living situation isn't ideal. There's a thousand reasons. Whatever it is for you right now, life always finds a way to keep us on our toes. So finding clarity and calm,
Starting point is 00:03:56 can feel like mission impossible. So here's a hard truth. If you're waiting for that perfect moment to line up so you can finally find some peace, you won't ever find it. Life will never be still. And if it is, that means it will soon be chaotic again. That's simply life's nature.
Starting point is 00:04:19 There will always be something to worry about or something to gnaw at the back of your mind. You won't be granted the perfect conditions on a silver platter, so you have no choice but to find stillness within yourself when the rest of the world just won't stop. I promise you,
Starting point is 00:04:38 even on your busiest day or on the most crowded of streets, a moment of calm clarity is more than possible. And here's the key. Keep it simple. Focus on what you are doing and what you can control in the moment.
Starting point is 00:04:56 Be intentional. It might help to slow down physically, whether slowing your pace of walking, taking a seat, or just keeping your breath steady and easy for a moment. If you're struggling, try removing as much stimulation from the outside world as you can. Turn down the radio if it's playing, even if it's your favorite song. Dim the lights or even shut your eyes. Try and focus your thoughts. on one thing at a time, reminding yourself that there is no rush.
Starting point is 00:05:32 You don't have to be swept along with the current of chaos. You can be strong and still within yourself. Like most things in life, cultivating inner stillness is a practice, one that gets easier with time. At first, you might find it best to schedule a time to practice. A few uninterrupted minutes all. all for yourself. Think of it as a time out from the demands of your day. Even a short mantra, like I'm here now, can go a long way. Simple is almost always better. And if anything comes up that's
Starting point is 00:06:14 bothering, don't worry about it. Just notice it and let it drift away without getting caught up in that idea. This might be difficult at first. We're so used to letting our thoughts in the urgency of every day, run us. But I promise, with time and practice, it will become easier and easier. And before you know it, even when it feels like the world is crumbling around you, you will be able to conjure inner peace, no matter where you are. My friend, those who are calm in chaos are those who will weather the storm. By taking time out of your day to practice being still, you've added an invaluable tool. You've added an invaluable tool. to your skill set. So often we're ruled by the stresses of to-does and daily responsibilities, the stress
Starting point is 00:07:11 keeps piling on until it feels impossible to stay afloat. But by learning how to create your own piece, you get to be the master of your own day. No more waiting for things to calm down. You get to decide when you have a moment for yourself. And in doing so, the world begins to feel. feel less out of control. You see, the ability to conjure stillness is an unbelievable superpower. Immediately, you remove distractions.
Starting point is 00:07:45 You prioritize. You become more grateful and appreciative. You allow restoration when the days have drained you. My friend, when we are overwhelmed, it becomes too much for our nervous systems. and we go on autopilot. We end up living in a constant state of stress, a spinning wheel, like the world keeps moving around us
Starting point is 00:08:11 while we just try to keep our heads above the water. But when we begin to foster moments of stillness, even if they're just here and there, it's almost like the waves calm down and the shoreline is clear. We become present and powerful in that process. presence. You can be your own center of gravity in this chaotic world, but you have to make the time for it. You won't be doing yourself any favors if you keep waiting for the perfect moment to relax,
Starting point is 00:08:45 for everything to line up so that you can live life the way you want it to be. You have to take charge and create the moment for yourself. And remember, above all, the peace, the stillness. the happiness and fulfillment you're looking for are already within you. You just need to make the space for it. My friend, the moment for finding peace in the chaos, is always right now. Well, that's it for this episode. I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope it encourages you to find moments of calm throughout your day.
Starting point is 00:09:32 I'll be back tomorrow with a wonderful meditation that will put these ideas, into practice. It's a great meditation for all levels, so I hope to see you there.
