Hey there, and welcome to Wake Me Up.
As always, I'm your host, Tyler, and in this episode, we're going to talk about how you can
use the power of your emotions to reach your goals.
I know that by the end of this episode and the other episodes this week on the same theme,
you'll feel more optimistic about your own personal potential
and you'll feel secure in your ability to navigate emotions
that may have interfered with your goals in the past.
Now let's go ahead and get started.
Before we dive in, just take one moment to pause.
It's possible that today's topic gets your mind stirring
with all of these goals you have
and all of the things you want to do in life.
But just try for a second to come back to the present moment.
Remember that the most productive thing you can do
is keep your mind clear as the day begins.
To set a focus and some priorities.
So just take a deep breath in and release.
Visualize your mind unwinding like a knotted ball of string.
Each breath detangles it just a little bit more.
So one more breath in, filling all the way up, and then exhale, release.
And now, feel free to go about your morning routine, whether that's making coffee or tea,
having a glass of water, a stretch, or even a walk, whatever it is that you like to do.
And while you do that, let's dive into this concept of using your emotions to achieve your goals.
See, it's not uncommon to feel stunted in reaching your goals,
and typically a big portion of that resistance comes from our own emotional blockages.
Subconscious limiting thoughts about your ability to be successful,
and the fear of stirring up difficult emotions can all lead you to avoid your goals,
or even worse, self-sabotage them.
And that's totally normal.
We all have limiting beliefs and fears.
So how can we work past them?
Well, you might be surprised to hear that focusing less on the end goal
and more on its process and your emotional drive to get there
actually makes you more likely to achieve it.
Many psychologists and researchers emphasize focusing on the behaviors
that bring you closer to your goals instead of the goals themselves.
In other words, the solution is to be process-oriented.
When we focus solely on the outcome, we hinder our ability to take highly effective actions.
Focusing on goals alone can create strain, fear, and worry that you might not succeed.
That's because our goals require us to become a better version of ourselves.
And subconsciously, nobody likes change.
so it's easy to stay frozen or paralyzed in that tug of war between your conscious and subconscious
minds.
Just think about when you've been in a flow state before.
Maybe while creating art, working on a project, or exercising, you would have been fully immersed
in the enjoyment of that activity.
You became so present in the process itself that you weren't thinking about what you might or might
not get in the future. You were focused on that behavior and you were less attached to the outcome.
When people talk about falling in love with the process, they're really telling us the key
component of success. So what's actually involved in that process? Well, it's a combination of
behavior's consistency, continuously tending to a positive, resilient mindset, and remembering
your why, that reason you want to achieve your goal. And what do emotions have to offer us in this
process? Well, of course, we're driven by passion and enjoyment, but in the process of creation,
a lot of subconscious beliefs about our own capabilities come to the surface. When you can remember
to take a step back from those emotions and be the observer of your own mind, then you can expand
beyond those beliefs and overcome them.
Each emotional response we have
tells us something about our subconscious beliefs
and our current needs.
That shows it's important to consider
what our goal is driven by.
So let's think about that for a moment.
Being driven by a sense of purpose?
Or is your goal something that you're less passionate about?
Are you seeking something
because you're afraid of what will happen
if you don't. Does your ambition come from the seed of your own soul, your own desires,
or the desires of someone else? Questions like these show the roots, the emotional basis of our goals.
They can often be hard to answer in the abstract. But our feelings and emotions can help us figure
them out if we learn to use them productively. You see, our emotional responses
reveal whether key needs and desires are being met.
So when you notice yourself having an emotional response in pursuit of a goal,
consider what it's telling you and what action it's inviting you to take.
For example, seeking a goal out of fear doesn't necessarily make it a bad pursuit,
but that is something you should be aware of.
Getting out of a fearful situation is certainly a worthy goal,
but it might not give you lifelong fulfillment.
Another example is frustration.
It can tell us that we need to be more creative with our approach.
Perhaps we need to change the process
in order to more effectively and enjoyably reach our goal.
On the other end of the spectrum,
joy, eagerness, and anticipation tell us that we're on the right path and to keep going.
So my friends, stay in touch with your emotions as you drive towards your goals.
Don't run away from them.
They can help you navigate the many twists and turns of life.
Sometimes, they'll tell you to stay coarse and push through.
Other times, they may tell you to change it up.
Our emotions are simply information about our subconscious mind.
Use that information to your advantage.
Allow yourself to evolve.
Let your goals change.
And when something feels uncomfortable along the way,
have an honest conversation with yourself.
Ask what you need more or less of
so that you can feel your best at every step of the process.
My friends, you are allowed.
to have desires and to want the best outcome.
And when your desires and emotional responses change, embrace it.
No feeling lasts forever.
But the ones that you come back to are the same ones that feed your fire.
The more mindfully you approach the process of goal attainment,
the better you'll understand exactly how to move forward.
The success of your goals is a direct reflection.
of your daily behaviors,
which stem from the quality of your mind and your emotions.
So nurture yourself.
Dig into your emotions and don't run away from them.
And as a result, you'll reap the rewards of resilience, confidence, pride,
and ultimately happiness and fulfillment.
Well, that's all for now.
Thank you so much for tuning in.
I hope you're feeling inspired to listen to yourself
and to use your own emotions
to achieve your deepest desires and goals.
We'll be back tomorrow morning
for a series of affirmations
that will help to seed these ideas
even deeper into your mind.
So I hope to see you there.
Until then, go out and have an absolutely fantastic day.
