Hello, everybody, and welcome to Wake Me Up, the podcast where morning people are made. I'm your host, Tyler. Today, you'll reach beyond the bounds of your normal life.
Starting point is 00:00:42 You'll find comfort in leaving your comfort zone. And you'll enjoy that sense of wonder that we all know from childhood. So, let's go ahead and jump right in. If you're joining from bed, then take a deep breath in, roll over, and as you exhale, stand up. you've been given the gift of another beautiful day. So don't waste it, just lingering around in bed. No matter where you find yourself, let's all pause together
Starting point is 00:01:25 and take a couple of big, refreshing breaths to start the day. So inhale, filling all the way up, hold it at the top, and then exhale, just letting it all go. No need to use any force. And let's do one more just like that. that, inhale, filling all the way into your belly, hold it, and then exhale. Great. Now, a moment ago, I mentioned that sense of awe and wonder that children have. Do you remember that? How everything seemed exciting. How you were always curious, always wanted to explore more, to try new things,
Starting point is 00:02:22 how you could jump into a pool a thousand times and each time it felt like the first. We all know that feeling because we were all once kids. But we don't have to lose that sense of wonder just because we're older now. We can cultivate that sense of passion, that sense of play,
Starting point is 00:02:47 and in turn take our lives farther than they ever would have been. And it all comes down to one very simple idea. Encouraging yourself to do new things, to find new experiences, to meet new people. You see, everything was so exciting and full of wonder when we were kids because everything was new. We had so much to learn, so many experiences to enjoy for the very first time. Like the taste of a cold ice cream cone on a hot summer day, or playing a sport, or musical instrument.
Starting point is 00:03:28 We were all ignited by these things because they brought new sensations, new ideas, and new ways of seeing the world. Now, we have a bit more experience under our belts. We still enjoy our hobbies and a cold ice cream cone, but we know what to expect from them. We've been there and done that. And even though it's enjoyable, it's not new.
Starting point is 00:03:55 so that sense of wonder that keeps us searching for more begins to fade. But we can rekindle that sense of wonder by simply stepping out of our normal routines, by trying something new, and by going out into the world just a little bit farther. So today, choose to expand your world. Take the time to do something new, even if it's just trying a new restaurant or a new flavor of ice cream. Take your normal hobbies and turn them upside down. Approach them from a completely new way. Maybe it'll work. Maybe it won't. But why does it really matter anyways? Just have fun with it. When we were kids, we used to do things simply for the
Starting point is 00:04:52 enjoyment they brought. We didn't care about getting rich from them or how they were going to help our resume or our relationships, we didn't have a secret agenda. Our enjoyment was pure. So release the need to do things perfectly. Care less about the result and more about how much fun you're having. That's how we can become better people and live better lives by going further, by exploring this world and this life even farther. You all know I don't claim to be all-knowing. In fact, I'm so far away from that. But is this not why we're here? To explore and adventure and try new things. We've been given the gift of a mind, a body, and a world at our hands. If we don't use them and explore all that we can, then what's the point? Why bother?
Starting point is 00:05:56 And this doesn't mean that we should push ourselves to the breaking point. No, it just means to reach a little farther each and every day. Because this opportunity is precious. Every second our clock is ticking. Are you going to waste the whole game sitting on the sidelines? Or are you going to get in there and play your heart out? So my friends, I encourage you to take that step today, that one that feels just a little out of the ordinary,
Starting point is 00:06:28 a little beyond your comfort zone or your norm. And tomorrow, do the same thing again. Soon enough, you'll end up going farther than you ever could have imagined. Well, that's all I've got for today's show. Thanks so much for tuning in, and I hope you enjoyed that bit of motivation.
