Good morning and welcome to Wake Me Up.
This is the podcast where morning people are made.
This is episode 10, another morning routine.
And today is the first part of what will be a two-part series that's inspired by Beyonce and how she used the moniker
Sasha Fierce as a tool to develop herself into someone she wanted to become.
In these two episodes, we will use the same tool for ourselves.
Now, the way these morning routine episodes work is rather simple.
Turn one on while you're starting your day, even while you're still in bed.
All you have to do is follow along.
As I guide you through a refreshing morning routine, that's sure to leave you relaxed and excited.
about your day. To have consistently great mornings, you really just need to have a regular morning
routine. And that's why wake me up works. By tuning in consistently, you'll become a morning person
in no time. And you'll find that if you consistently win your morning, you'll consistently win your day.
If you're enjoying the podcast, make sure you leave a review. This is still a really new show.
So your reviews are extremely helpful for others trying to find a podcast like this.
And of course, be sure to subscribe and follow Wake Me Up.
So you never miss a great day.
Now let's get started.
If you're lying in bed, you can roll onto your back and open your eyes.
Notice the calmness of your body here in this moment before your day has begun.
You can begin to bring some slow.
and gentle movements to your body.
Appreciate this moment where a blank canvas stands before you, a brand new day,
and you can paint whatever you want.
There are no limits except time itself.
Will today be the day that changes your life forever?
Or will it just be another day like the one before it?
The choice is all yours.
I encourage you to reach a little farther today than you did yesterday,
and tomorrow you can do the same.
Massive change and big accomplishments don't happen overnight.
They're the product of showing up and putting in the work long term.
Reach one inch farther today, and tomorrow go another inch farther,
and so on every day.
It may seem slow in the moment, but in hindsight, you will see that your growth was exponential.
Most of us have an image of the person who we want to become, a dream life that we want to live.
If you're not already on the path to becoming that person, you'll start on it today.
And inch by inch, step by step, day by day, you will be able to be.
become that person. So this life you've dreamed of starts right here, right now. Take a deep breath
in and exhale. If you're still in bed, roll over on your side, place your feet on the ground,
and stand up. Feel the energy flowing through you and enjoy this moment where you have the ability
to shape your day into whatever you want.
If you'd like, you can take a gentle stretch.
Just listen to your body and keep it nice and easy.
And now that you're beginning to wake up,
let's go ahead and get prepared for meditation.
Have a sip of water and make your way to a comfortable, seated position.
Just don't sit in bed.
And while you're getting situated,
I'm going to talk a little bit about how Beyonce used an alter ego
called Sasha Fierce, to become the star we know her as today.
Maybe you know that, long before she was a household name,
Beyonce grew up singing in school and church choirs.
Much more innocent, quiet, and sweet
than the fiery idol we see today.
When her time with Destiny's Child was finishing up,
Beyonce was going to become a solo artist.
But there was an issue.
The fiery person,
personality we see now isn't who Beyonce was.
How was she to command audiences and grab attention?
So she created an alter ego called Sasha Fierce,
a person who was everything Beyonce wanted to be on stage.
And by creating this alter ego, she was able to step into it
when making music or stepping up in front of an audience.
She became Sasha Fierce.
in those moments.
It allowed her to be the artist that she dreamed of
while at the same time protecting her natural personality.
Over time, it became easier and easier
for her to put on the Sasha Fierce act.
It became second nature.
And eventually, Beyonce was Sasha Fierce.
It had become a part of her personality,
and you can do the same thing
to develop into the person you dream of being.
Who do you want to be in one, five, or ten years?
It may not be as grand a change as becoming a pop star.
It might just be having a home,
or being a better parent or a significant other,
starting your own business,
or climbing the ranks at your company.
Whatever it is, you can do it.
The first part, though, is figuring out who that person is, who you want to become.
So let's start right there.
You can make sure you're comfortable and seated in a relaxed position.
And as always, we'll start by taking a deep breath in.
And as you exhale, you can gently close your eyes.
Keep taking those slow and steady breaths at your own.
pace, draw them deep into your belly, hold them just for a moment at the top, before exhaling
slowly. And you can just let the air go, there's no need to force anything. As you take these
breaths, allow your attention to draw inward. Notice what each breath feels like. What does it feel
like in your body to breathe. If thoughts come to mind while you're sitting, that's perfectly
fine. Just let them come and go freely, each time bringing yourself back to watching the
breath, and each time allowing yourself to draw deeper and deeper within. Now, visualize what you
look like sitting there and meditating right now. You can just float up out of your body and look at
yourself. Notice what you look like sitting there in this moment. What does the room look like
around you? And as you do this, you notice that you can move forward and backward in time.
you can move along your lifetime line
and so you fast forward along this timeline
to around a year from now
watching time zip by below
and once you get to that time
you just look back down at yourself
and you find that you're quite proud of who you've become
in just a year's time
it seems like your life is becoming quite ideal
Notice what you look like.
What seems different about you?
What stands out?
It might be pretty obvious.
Or it might be rather subtle.
But just pay attention to what's different about this version of you a year from now
versus the one you just saw meditating.
Notice what you're doing, how you're spending your time,
how you hold yourself physically and any other people that are there.
Now, you're beginning to feel quite enthusiastic about who you've become.
So you decide to look farther into the future,
and you fast forward again along your timeline,
watching time zoom by below you,
until you land about five years from now in the future.
and you begin to watch again.
This time, you're even more surprised at the person you've become.
You're living a life you almost couldn't imagine.
It's that great.
Again, you soak in all of the details going on in this vision.
What you look like in this life.
What has changed about you that's allowed you to reach this point?
You notice how you spend your time.
and any other relationships or other things that are a part of this future life.
And notice what it is about this life that is so appealing to you.
And as you dig deeper and deeper into the details of this future self,
you realize that this person you want to become really is just you.
It's the same person you are now.
but with five years of growth and evolution.
You realized that this person was always inside of you.
You just needed time to allow them to become fully expressed.
And this realization brings you a great sense of happiness,
of self-love, self-acceptance, and self-worth.
And you have a brand-new enthusiasm
about your life.
You allow those sensations
to fill your body
and to energize you.
Now having collected all of the details
from those future moments
and enjoyed the feelings from them,
you begin to rewind
along the timeline of your life
coming all the way back
to the present moment
where you find yourself again
sitting there in this room
meditating
and in that view of yourself
you see your future
you see your past
you see all of the versions
of who you are
and you're proud of them
you're proud of who you've been
who you are right now
and who you will become
And with that thought, you begin to drift back down into yourself, noticing the feeling of your body.
Feeling your breath move in, and you slowly begin to come back into the room, hearing any sounds,
wiggling your hands and feet.
Take an inhale and an exhale.
And when you're ready, open.
Open your eyes. Take a moment to collect yourself and remember what you just saw.
And while you do that, it's time for today's send-off.
In this final portion of the podcast, I share a bit of positivity to motivate you for the day ahead.
Think back to five years from right now.
Where did you live? Who did you hang out with?
What were you doing in life?
For most of us, five years ago can seem like a completely different life.
You've seen and grown so much that it's almost hard to recognize yourself as the same person.
But you are the same person, just grown and evolved a bit more.
That's the exponential value of consistent action over time.
You were one version of yourself, and now you're a completely different version.
Let go of any judgment about whether you're happy about or approve of who you've become.
Because the only thing that matters right now is who you will become from here on out.
So think forward about who that person is.
Think about the version of yourself you just watched.
one year from now and five years from now.
I encourage you to write down the details of those visualizations.
What did you notice about yourself?
How did you spend your time?
What was different about your physical appearance?
All of it.
Write down all of it.
The more detail, the better.
Because we will use those details in part two of this series
to craft a personalized mental training tool
that will wire your brain to become the person you want to be.
It's a really powerful technique used by people like Tony Robbins.
In other words, write down the details of your alter ego.
Who is your Sasha Fierce?
Just be sure that it's something which makes you happy and fulfilled on the inside.
We all need something to chase, something to look forward to.
growth gives us meaning in life.
And I think Matthew McConaughey said it perfectly
when he talked about his hero being himself in 10 years.
Here's what he said.
Every day, every week, every month, and every year of my life,
my hero is always 10 years away.
I'm never going to be my hero.
I'm not going to attain that.
I know I'm not
and that's just fine with me
because that gives me somebody to keep chasing
so I ask you
who's the version of yourself
worth chasing
well that's all for today my friends
I really appreciate you tuning in
I'd love to hear the future version of yourself
that you want to chase
so please send it to me at wakemeuppodcast.com
part two comes next week
And until then, I hope you have a wonderful day.
