Starting point is 00:00:27 in Apple Podcasts. Thanks so much for you. for listening, and I hope you have a fantastic day. Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Wake Me Up, the podcast, Where Morning People Are Made. I'm Tyler, and as usual, I'm your host. I'm so glad to have you here with me this morning. Today is a special episode, and it's for anyone who's going through or recently went
Starting point is 00:00:59 through a breakup. It can be of the romantic kind, of course, but this one is a special episode. but this will also serve you well for work breakups or friendship breakups. Really anything where you've separated from a part of your life and left it to the past. And I'm doing this episode now because I've had an unusual number of requests from all of you. So I'm not sure what's going on in the world, but it seemed like now was the right time. Let's go ahead and get started. As usual, we'll begin by opening our eyes if you haven't done that already.
Starting point is 00:01:45 Take a big, full, deep breath in. Hold it at the top for just a second before releasing it and just letting it all flow back out. Go ahead and start to get loose in bed a little bit. Wiggle around, stretch anything that you'd like. Just want to take a second here to get some blood flowing. Now, presumably you're playing this episode because you've parted ways with a friend, a romantic partner, a job, or maybe even your own lifelong dream. They often bring about similar feelings.
Starting point is 00:02:35 Loneliness, stress due to the changes in our daily life, worry about the future, or wondering whether you made a mistake. I'm sure you'll feel all of those. and probably more. It's important to remember that all of this is okay. These feelings are your mind and body processing these big changes to your life. So try not to run away from them. Instead, sit with them and examine them.
Starting point is 00:03:15 This is the fastest way to move on. And it's the most effective way too, because what the brain is really trying to do is learn. It wants to learn why you feel this way. How did I find myself in a situation that made me feel like this? How can I avoid it in the future? If you really examine those questions, you'll find yourself much, much better off going forward.
Starting point is 00:03:48 If you're going to feel that pain, make it useful. And don't forget that life goes up and it goes down. If everything was static, you'd feel the exact same way every day. And that would be really boring. You have to have sad to have happy. You have to feel lonely sometimes to feel cherished. So don't run away from this. Because if you do, you'll run away from the best times in your life, too.
Starting point is 00:04:27 Now, I know breakups of all kinds can leave us feeling mopey and lacking in it. energy. But it is helpful to keep going. And you don't have to do anything big. We don't need any more massive changes right now. We'll start with something simple. So if you're feeling a bit down and you want to feel better, then commit to yourself that today you'll do the little things to pick yourself up
Starting point is 00:05:01 and get going again. And we can start that right now by taking a deep breath in. As you exhale, roll over in bed, swing your feet around, and make your way to standing up.
