Good morning and welcome to Wake Me Up, the podcast where morning people are made.
I'm Tyler, and as usual, I'm your host.
This morning routine will help us find meaning and enjoyment.
Out of the mundane things in life, the things that often take up most of our time.
Now, let's go ahead and get started.
We'll take the next few minutes to get out of bed.
And you can just listen to my voice and follow along while we do that.
First things first, open your eyes if you haven't done that already.
And just enjoy this moment to relax in bed before anything else in your day has started.
Now take a deep breath in, hold it for just a second, and then exhale.
Now you can feel free to move around or stretch, loosen up in bed.
you can do anything that feels good for you.
Then we'll just take a couple more minutes here
to help ourselves wake up.
Everything we do in life is a process of something.
Like right now, we're in the process of waking up.
These are our routines and habits,
and they take up most of the time in our lives.
They occur on the small scale,
like the process of getting ready for bed
or getting your work done.
and on larger scales, like the process of getting a degree,
raising a child, or building a company.
Over time, it's natural to get a little bored with the process
because it tends to be repetitive.
It's hard to stay interested in sending an email
when you send 10, 20, maybe even 100 every day.
But the process is what we do with our time.
The results of the process are usually held in a single moment or experience.
And it's because of this repetitiveness that we can find ourselves bored in life.
Bored with the things that used to bring us happiness and meaning.
Well, today, let's focus our energy on trying to find new and interesting things
in the simple routines that take up most of our day.
It can help to have a sense of curiosity and wonderment toward these seemingly mundane things.
Sending the 50th email of the day might feel a little less boring
when you appreciate how new and unique email is.
The vast majority of human life on Earth couldn't have even fathomed sending an email electronically.
But you do it multiple times a day.
And that's kind of cool.
So as you go about your day, if something feels boring or mundane, take a second and think about what makes it special and unique.
You can always find something to admire.
And if you can admire it, then all of a sudden, you've made that process a bit brighter and more enjoyable.
Now, on that note, let's go ahead and get up.
Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, roll over in bed, place your feet on the ground and make your way to standing up.
