We'll take the next few minutes to wake up and begin the day that lies ahead. There's a world of opportunity at your doorstep this morning.
Starting point is 00:01:53 So you can just listen to my voice as we get ready to seize it. If you're still in bed, you can roll on to your back and open your eyes. Take some calm, deep breaths, inhaling, filling your belly, pausing at the top, and then just letting all of that air flow back out. There's no need to use any force or just getting some fresh oxygen to the body. So take a few more breaths like that at your own pace. If you're in bed, bring some gentle movement to your body. Listen to what it wants and just do whatever feels good. as you're beginning to wake up now,
Starting point is 00:02:56 I want to share some words from Steve Jobs. This is what he said. Everything around you that you call life was made up by people who were no smarter than you. And you can change it. You can influence it. You can build your own things that other people can use. Once you learn that,
Starting point is 00:03:23 you'll never be the same again. I hope you take these words to heart because they are absolutely true. I would know. It's this idea that is part of what inspired me to make this very podcast. So let's get this day started. Take one more deep breath in and exhale.
Starting point is 00:03:56 If you're in bed, roll over, and make your way to stand up. Feel your feet on the floor and the blood beginning to circulate through your body. If you'd like and you're able, you can take a gentle stretch. Again, whatever feels good, just keep it nice and easy. And now that you're beginning to wake up, let's transition to a brief meditation. You can grab a sip of water if you'd like and make your way to a comfortable, seated position. And as always, you can sit anywhere you want.
Starting point is 00:04:42 Just don't sit in bed. And while you get situated, I want to circle back to what Steve Jobs said. That everything around you in this thing called life was created by people who are no better than you. Now, we may all have different strengths and weaknesses, but that doesn't mean you're not capable of changing the world, accomplishing your goals and becoming the person you dream of being
Starting point is 00:05:18 the greatest empires and the greatest businesses all started from zero yet they've gone on to shape the course of history so even if you are at zero right now you should still believe in yourself be confident in the work of your hands
Starting point is 00:05:43 and the thoughts in your brain. You have everything you need to create the life you want. To get that promotion, to be that good friend or significant other that you strive to be. You can solve big problems. You can overcome any obstacle. You can create something that others need or want. Yes, you can change the world.
Starting point is 00:06:13 All you have to do is believe. believe in yourself and take constant and consistent action. Now, I can't help you with the latter, but I can help you remember to believe in yourself. So that's what we're going to do today. And on that note, let's begin our meditation. As always, we start by focusing on the breath. Easy, slow, and steady breaths. Draw them deep into your belly, hold them at the top for just a moment, before exhaling slowly.
Starting point is 00:07:03 And try to make your exhale a bit longer than your inhale. This triggers systems in your body that calm you down. It's also a great trick if you're getting nervous or anxious. So keep breathing like that at your own pace. And if you get distracted, just gently bring your tension. back to the breath. Sometimes it can help to focus on a certain point in your body while you breathe, like your belly, your chest, or the tip of your nose where the air passes by. Keep watching your breath in this way, allowing yourself to draw deeper and deeper.
Starting point is 00:08:28 If thoughts arise, it's perfectly fine. Just let the thought go. and re-center yourself. There's no need to get frustrated or annoyed. We're just practicing being present. Now that you're finding a calm and deeply relaxed state, remember a time when you accomplished a goal or did something and it made you feel proud. Proud to be you.
Starting point is 00:09:41 It doesn't have to be anything important. Just a time when you were glad and proud to be yourself. And then you can just bring yourself into that moment, reliving it through your memory. Notice all of the details in this moment and what you were doing, anyone else who was there and how you felt. Now, pay particular attention to how you're standing, how you're holding yourself in this memory.
Starting point is 00:10:58 Notice the confidence that you have. What does it feel like to hold yourself in that way? What is your posture like? And how does your body feel? Notice how your inner self responds positively to seeing you with this sense of confidence. There might be a sense of being lighter, like you have a bit more energy and sureness in your step.
Starting point is 00:12:06 And as you relive this memory, noticing the confidence with which you're holding yourself, you begin to feel that same confidence in your body right now, starting in your chest and spreading down your abdomen, past your hips, down your legs, all the way to your toes. and then it rises up your back, elongating your spine, rounding over your shoulders, down your arms, to your fingers. And finally, up your neck to your head.
Starting point is 00:13:16 As you watch this memory and feel the confidence from it infusing your body, you might start to feel that same lightness, that same energy. that same trust in yourself that you remember having in that moment and once you've allowed this memory to completely fill your mind and body you can just let it begin to drift away fading back into the filing cabinet of your brain
Starting point is 00:14:02 always there to remind you that you are proud that you are brave that you are worthy and that you are enough. Once that memory drifts away, you can begin to come back to your present surroundings. Feel your breath move in and out.
Starting point is 00:14:39 Feel the sensation of sitting in the chair with your feet on the floor and hear any sounds in the room. You can begin to bring some gentle movements to your body and when you're ready, slowly open your eyes. Now, it's time for today's send-off. In this final portion of the podcast, I share a bit of positivity to motivate you for the day ahead. And today, we're going to do this a bit differently.
Starting point is 00:15:24 So find a mirror and go stand in front of it. Preferably, you want to see as much of yourself as possible, but any amount will do. If you don't have a mirror, you can use a reflection in a window. And if you don't have that, it's still perfectly fine. The exercise will work great. So standing in front of your reflection, place your feet firmly on the ground, about hips width apart, or maybe a little bit more. Make any adjustments so that you feel comfortable and stable. And then place your hands on your hips.
Starting point is 00:16:03 So you're now in the classic. superman pose. Take a deep breath, remembering that memory you just recalled. And as you exhale, stare yourself down, right in the eyes, and maintain that eye contact with yourself while you repeat after me. I am a good person. I am worthy of a good life. I am a positive being. I am aware of my potential. I'm aware of my gifts and I'm grateful for them. I can overcome any obstacle. I can accomplish any goal. I have everything I need to live the life that I want. I alone determine my self-worth. No one else can determine my self-worth. I believe in myself. I know that I can do anything I put my mind to.
Starting point is 00:17:56 I commit to loving myself unconditionally. I am on the path to becoming the person I want to be. I am confident. You can relax now and let go of that pose and feel free to repeat those affirmations as much as you want. The more, the better. And remember, the world has been changed. shaped by people just like you.
Starting point is 00:18:38 Whatever it is that lies ahead, you've got this. That's all for today, friends. I really appreciate you listening in. If you're enjoying the podcast, I would encourage you to subscribe, leave a review, and share it with a friend. I'd also love to hear from you. So send me your feedback at wakemeuppodcast.com. I'll talk to you tomorrow morning.
Starting point is 00:19:08 And until then, I hope you have a wonderful day.
