Starting point is 00:00:28 Thanks so much for listening, and I hope you have a fantastic day. Hi, everyone, and welcome to Wake Me Up, the podcast where morning people are made. As usual, I'm Tyler, your host. Thank you so much for tuning in this morning. In this episode, we're going to wake up and get ourselves in the mood for a great day, and we're not going to worry too much about the results or what happens along the way. We so often try to control life, only to be reminded that life cannot be controlled. Instead, we just have to let things happen and learn to work with them.
Starting point is 00:01:16 This is something that I learned from one of my favorite inspirations, Bob Ross. So I think you're really going to like this one. Let's go ahead and get started. We'll begin like usual by opening our eyes if you haven't done that already. Take a deep breath in. Hold it at the top for just a second. And then exhale slowly. Just let it all go.
Starting point is 00:01:53 Keep taking some deep breaths like that. And maybe you want to stretch out in bed or do anything that feels good to you right now. We're just going to take a moment to slowly warm up to the day. And of course, I should mention that if something in this show isn't accessible to you, whether you physically can't do something, or even if you just don't want to do something, that's okay.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Do whatever works for you. This is your morning. And though I may guide you through it, you're the one who makes all of the decisions ultimately. That's a freeing thought, really. Knowing that this is your morning, it's yours to have and you own it. That said, you don't control it. Your morning, like everything in life, is subject to things outside of your control. Like your neighbor's barking dog, your kids waking up early, or even the weather.
Starting point is 00:02:59 And really, this is true for everything in life. We have to practice working with all of these uncontrollable things. Sort of like a surfer riding a wave. The surfer can't control the wave, but they can anticipate it, ride it, and enjoy it by accepting the fact that they can't control the wave. The surfer can make the wave work for them. Now, that doesn't mean all of the surfer's problems are solved.
Starting point is 00:03:33 They can still mess up. They can overshoot the wave or misread it. But sometimes a misread wave might turn out to be the best wave of the day. you never really know. And that's why we have to just enjoy what we do. And care a little bit less about the results. After all, our mistakes and errors often lead to some of our best moments and insights. Now, I'm a musician and I can honestly say that many of my best musical ideas
Starting point is 00:04:07 were not what I had intended to play at the time. It's helpful not to view me. mistakes as mistakes, but rather as happy little accidents. We can work with these little accidents and make something beautiful from them. So on that note, if you're with me and you want to make today a great day, then take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, let's go ahead and get up. So roll over in bed, take a big stretch if you want to. and stand up.
