Good morning and welcome to Wake Me Up, the podcast, where morning people are made.
Friends, how we talk to ourselves makes such a drastic impact on our mood,
our self-confidence and what we accomplish in life.
You know that little voice in your head?
The one that sometimes says great stuff, but other times says all kinds of crazy things.
Maybe even makes you feel bad or guilty.
Well, that's your self-talk.
And today, we're going to make sure that voice is a positive one.
Let's start right here and right now just by taking a few deep breaths.
So inhale, fill all the way into your belly.
Hold it at the top.
Exhale.
Let it all go.
And we'll do a few more, but now think of something you're grateful for.
A friend, the weather, something exciting on your calendar.
And once you have that thing in mind, inhale and fill yourself with gratitude for that thing.
Hold and exhale sending appreciation back out into the world.
Once more, think of something new.
inhale, filling with a sense of gratitude, hold, exhale, sending appreciation back out to the world.
Now that we've centered the mind on something more positive, it's a perfect time to get this beautiful day going.
So if you're in bed, then take a deep breath, and as you exhale, roll over and make your way to standing up.
All right. In the interest of time, we're not going to do a stretch today. So if you'd like to do that,
you can press pause or do some stretches afterwards. Instead, we're going to go right into our
meditation. So find a comfortable seat. Anywhere in your home will do. Just don't sit in your
bed because you don't want to fall back asleep now that you're up. And if you want to grab a sip of
water or use the bathroom along the way, then by all means, please do so. Today, we're going to use
a mantra or a phrase that you just repeat over and over. And this is a really powerful way
to affect your thought patterns. The mind tends to wander when we meditate, and that's normal.
That's totally expected. By using a mantra, we have an anchor. We have a re-centering force for the brain.
so that when it wanders to something,
regardless of whether it's positive or negative,
we can always return it to what we want the mind to focus on.
And a really common one is the universal mantra,
Ome.
But today, since we're working on self-confidence,
we're going to use the mantra, I can.
So hopefully you've found a comfortable seat by now.
And you want to be sitting upright and supported,
but try to release any tension.
Take a big breath in and on your exhale, close your eyes.
Head and just get settled here at first.
Relax your face.
Relax your jaw and soften your shoulders down.
And now that you're settled in, begin to repeat our mantra for today.
I can.
Nice and steady.
There's no need to rush.
I like to pace it with my breath,
but you can do whatever feels right for you.
So for me, that feels like inhale, I can.
Exhale, I can.
And just keep going like that,
bringing your mind back to that mantra
anytime it wanders.
So if you find that your thoughts have wandered off,
that's perfectly fine.
Simply bring your mind back to repeating our phrase.
our mantra, I can.
And as you do this, slowly and repeatedly, this powerful phrase will begin to root itself deeper and deeper in your brain.
All right, friends, you can let go of that mantra now.
Just come back to your breath, feeling that rise and fall for just a moment before we wrap up.
Okay, it's time to close out of that mantra now.
our meditation now. So begin to bring yourself back to the room. Notice any sounds going on around
you. Notice your feet on the floor, the chair supporting you, and maybe you want to give your fingers
and toes a little wiggle just to bring some movement back to the body. Take one final inhale,
the deepest one yet, and on your exhale, open your eyes, and just collect yourself. So,
We're going to finish today's episode with some affirmations.
And to get the most out of these,
I recommend that you stand in front of a mirror,
looking at yourself while saying them out loud.
But if that's not for you, that's totally okay.
You can do them silently in your head and wherever you want.
Whatever's best for you will work just fine.
Repeat after me.
I believe in myself.
I have unique strengths and skills.
that nobody else has.
I always have something special to offer.
I can accomplish anything I want.
If I give it my all, I am valuable.
I am worthy.
My future is bright.
I deserve to be successful.
I deserve to be happy.
I deserve to be fulfilled.
I'm proud of what I have done and what I will do.
I can do anything.
that I put my mind and effort to.
Fantastic.
I hope you're feeling excited to be you.
You truly are a unique person.
Nobody on this earth is exactly like you.
Nobody has your exact DNA and all of your same life experiences.
Don't forget that no matter the situation,
you always have something valuable to offer.
So, that's all for this episode.
I hope it's got you excited to make the most of this very special gift called Life.
Now go out.
Remember that you can do anything you put your mind and effort to.
And have an absolutely fantastic day.
I really hope you enjoyed this episode.
A good morning is such a gift, isn't it?
It's the key to a happier and more productive day
and ultimately a better life.
And that's why I make this show.
So if you're enjoying it,
why not send one of your favorite episodes to a friend?
You never know.
You might just make their day and change their life.
